What makes it’s a premier job? It’s actually a poor situation which is why the top candidates will not be interested. You are the premier franchise in pro football. Despite not even getting close to a championship in 30 years. THIRTY YEARS.
Go and get one of the best coaches in all of football by any means possible. Trade for Mcvey or O’Connell. Get Vrabel. Or Belichick. Quit monkeying around with these questionable hires at head coach. And then let them hire their own assistants
1. Incompetent GM for life. Why would any top candidate want to be saddled with Skeletor and his syncophants?
2. Meddling owner that happens to be the GM. As the HC your voice will never be the final say and everyone in the org knows that. How many other GMs or owners have press conferences after every game? Zero.
3. Cheap ownership when it comes to paying staff. JJ is talking about incentive based pay. Which top coach is agreeing to that when you’re saddled with JJ the GM who has no accountability?
Even the Jets job is more attractive as the new coach will have a say in the QB direction and there will be a real GM in the mix. Also the Jets have low expectations so you’d have a longer leash. New coach gets Dallas to 12 wins JJ will take the credit. They don’t and the coach takes the blame, regardless of the roster put together by GM JJ.
I’ll bet they put out feelers, don’t like what they hear and run it back with MM.
