Always good for a laugh or two

NFC East
Philly 11-5
Dallas 9-7 (wildcard)
Washington 7-9
New York 6-10

Tony Romo #15 (behind Vince Young, Michael Vick Chad Pennington:eek: )
Brad Johnson-past his prime (big surprise there)
Witten #6 (Fasano top veteran prospects)
jujo#28
MB3 #29
TO #13 (behind Lee Evans ! Lee freaking Evans!) My favorite TO quote: "Terrell Owens put up big numbers in his first season in Dallas , but his value was muted by distractions of the field ."
Glenn #24
Gurode #6
Leonard Davis #11
Flozell #16 (no sign of Colombo)
spears-top vet prospect
Bradie James- top vet prospect
Ware #3 (behind Merriman  )
Newman #2 (finally some love from this rag only behind Champ)
Roy #8 (Sean Taylor is #5 somehow, do they watch the games ?)

Team grades
qb B-
RB B-
WR B+
OL C+
DL B
LBS B+
SEC B-
ST C+ (too low considering we have a pro bowler at one of the positions and a consistent vet in automatica)

Yeah, I picked it up myself.

The bias is painfully obvious and clearly illustrates why Pro Football Weekly isn't nearly as respected or popular as it once was.

The loss of Joel Buschbaum was huge.

But it's clear that if you want your 'ranking' to drop, just join the Cowboys.

How anyone can justify that there are 12 receivers better than Owens boggles the mind.....

When Joel was alive PFW's rankings were pretty damn good. Now that some scrub named Mike Wilkening is doing it, well the results are pretty mediocre.

in order for Romo to warrant middle of the pack rankings his QB rating would need to drop 15 points or so this year. i doubt a decrease of that proportion will happen.

OK, Romo at #15

These rankings are pretty solid. C'mon people, try some objectivity.

Lee Evans had 82 catches for 1392 yards last year.

I am the biggest Dallas fan there is, but I just don't think Owens had a great year in 2006. Sure, the stats look good, but he just wasn't great. Far too many drops.

Tony Romo has 10 starts in the NFL. A great 10-game start, but he can't be ranked in the top 10 off 10 games. No way. Have another year like that and Romo will be ranked No. 7 or something like that.

I have no problem with that whatsoever.

I have to cosign with this sentiment. People shouldn't crown Romo anything yet until after his first FULL season as the starting QB. T.O. had very good year by number but a closer look would reveal his lack of knowledge of plays... The drops were a non issue because of the hand injuries along with his prior history of drops but what WR doesn't drop passes?

I don't follow... because he has a history of dropped passes, it shouldn't affect his ranking? Because he had an excuse, it should affect his ranking?

Throw the numbers out the window. Owens season was good, not great. He just wasn't a dominant, game-changing player on a week-to-week basis like he was in previous stops.

He is what he is -- one of the better WRs in the league, but not a top 10 player at his position. At least in 2006. Let's hope he gets it back in 2007.

Everyone has their opinion. I don't agree with the rankings; luckily, that's why they play the season.

Who led the NFL in TDs? TO. And for that he is only 13? BS.
Vick better then Romo? MORONIC.
Sean Taylor over Roy after LAST year? IDIOTIC.
A Pro Bowl punter and solid FG man and we have a C at ST? DUMB.
15 better LTs then the Hotel? Who wrote this- Forrest Gump?
Anyone who cannot realize that most of this is totally wrong knows NOTHING about Football.

How in God's name can you throw numbers out the window when ranking players?

I would love to see the 12 WRs currently in the NFL better than TO in ability.

Now that would be classic.

I bet defensive coordinators around the league would have a REAL hard time listing those 12 WRs.

Who led the NFL in TDs? TO. And for that he is only 13? BS.

First of all, he didn't lead the NFL in TDs. Secondly, he also led the NFL in drops. He led the NFL in distractions. At times he was a very good player -- great even. Other times he was a non-factor. On the whole, it was very clear that TO was not the difference-making player he was at previous stops. He rarely dominated games.

And understand that a 13th ranking out of 64 starting WRs isn't terrible. TO is a very good, at times great, starting WR in the NFL. This ranking acknowledges that fact.

Vick better then Romo? MORONIC.

Maybe. Maybe not. Fact is no QB should be ranked in the top tier after 10 starts.

Sean Taylor over Roy after LAST year? IDIOTIC.

Newsflash: ROY didn't have a good year. His flaws against the pass are obvious. Again he is still ranked very high despite those obvious flaws.

A Pro Bowl punter and solid FG man and we have a C at ST? DUMB.

"Solid FG man?" What? Grammatica was on the street when he was signed. For a reason. He failed at several stops before having an OK few game stretch with Dallas. He's not secure by any means. Dallas drafted a kicker for a reason.

Dallas has no juice at all from its return game, question marks (again) at kicker. Pretty decent coverage units and the best punter in the game. PFW are tough graders across the board so a C is not unreasonable at all.

15 better LTs then the Hotel? Who wrote this- Forrest Gump?

I would agree Flo is probably in the top 12. He should be up a couple spots. A minor issue. He isn't a great LT anymore.

Anyone who cannot realize that most of this is totally wrong knows NOTHING about Football.

More likely, the fans who are crying about these rankings are ridiculous homers.

I wasn't clear. My bad. Throw the numbers out the window when assessing TO's 2006 season. The stats make it look like TO had an awesome season.

Dallas fans who are truly honest and objective know that isn't true. He dropped a couple TDs in the end zone. He dropped a perfectly thrown bomb against the Skins that would have ended that game. He dropped a 4th down pass as Dallas tried to rally behind Romo against the Giants.

He didn't totally know the playbook and too often was in the wrong place. He added his usual dose of pouting and team distractions.

Rarely did he catch a big pass or make a big play. The TD against the Falcons was one.

This is not to say TO was terrible. He was what he was -- a very good NFL WR in 2006. He still made some plays, caused some headaches and put up some nice numbers.

He has clearly slipped a notch, but he's still a top 15 WR.

frankly hanford, you are wrong. Sean Taylor ranked 3 spots higher then Roy.
And you think that is not totally screwed up? That makes Sean Taylor a top 5 Safety. After LAST YEAR?

Romo has shown more in 10 games then Vick has in 6 years.

As regards ST, obviously your lack of research shows. Check stats as regards KR and PR. Gramatica was up there as regards accuracy. WIth a Pro Bowl punter, and the other facts YOU need to look up maybe you will get the picture.

I am no fan of TO, but if you cannot see how bad that ranking is then you are totally lost. TO is at worst a top 10 WR. Leading THE NFL in TDs in RECEPTIONS is a very significant stat.
