Odd. I could see retiring after he was released from the Cowboys, but he had signed a 2-year contract with the Colts.

lmao...welp, I was hoping he would stick around as a backup, but looks like the team was right and I was wrong.

Best of luck, Phil.

There was a time when he showed some pretty good promise. It's too bad that he couldn't stay healthy.

Wonder if he's got something more serious going on that would account for the marriage breaking off and retiring from football, both.

He's a marginal player who is going to make marginal dollars, at least as far as the NFL goes. Better off protecting his brain and getting a real job since he was never going to make retirement money off his current skillset.

Looks like he killed 2 jobs that pay well quick-football and wrestling.

I always thought he was a JAG at best. But I never had any doubt that he was doing all he could to make it. Just did not have the physical tools to do so. Still this does seem odd the way its going down. For those that keep saying that our coaches do not make mistakes here is an example of one that went on too long; and apparently he was able to fool someone on the colts as well.

But then look how long Barbie Carpenter hung around....

what makes this even more puzzling is that if he could have hung on this year he would have qualified for a NFL pension.

I guess Larry Allen and Nate Newton don't know what they are talking about. During the luncheon in 2011 in SF they both said they thought Costa was gonna be a very good center. I asked them during an interview during the show what they thought and that's what they said. After my wife and I walked outside with Larry as we were leaving at the same time( he was admiring my truck) and he reiterated what he thought of Costa. Glad they're not scouts! Lol great players and Larry is a nice guy.
