AZBOYZFAN;4566701 said:Why doesnt Costa call Stepnoski and learn how to play center as an undersized guy?
BAT;4566564 said:If Randy was on today's weight program, adding 20 lbs is commonplace. And even at 260, White could handle many 300 pounders with relative ease. A person's striking/punching ability is not about weight but about force.
And if you feel that White, at the tail end of his career, had nothing left, he still averaged more sacks in his last 3 years than all of last year's starting DL. Heck, even an aged and not as effective Randy White would have had more explosives than Spencer in his prime.
Doomsday101;4564344 said:I loved watching Randy White but this notion White would work over Costa? Over the last 2 years of White career he was not working over many people. Injury had taken their toll on him and his numbers started to fad.
No doubt Randy has experience he can pass on to Costa in combating defensive lineman but Randy playing days are well behind him and he is not beating Costa on any day. I know for many it is the thing to do rag on Costa but some are taking this to the extreme.
Randy is in great shape for a man his age.

Apollo Creed;4567621 said:He's a major advocate for NORML, and he was a part of the 90s squad which may have been the hardest partying team ever. If anyone wants details read Jeff Pearlman's book Boys Will Be Boys. It's amazing that team dominated competition on no sleep and basically hungover everyday. Makes it all that more impressive IMO.
And don't get me wrong most pro athletes like to party, but nobody threw down like the Dallas Dynasty boys.

MichaelWinicki;4566748 said:Because he's not really undersized.
Check the height/weight of the starting centers in the NFL.
In the weight dept, Costa is probably heavier than most at this point. And there are starting centers who are shorter.
His issue (other than the shorter arms) was his technique.
I also think the knee injury he had at the beginning of last season contributed to his poor start.
But Costa isn't undersize, nor is he understrength for the position.
AZBOYZFAN;4567739 said:See you just validated what I was saying Stepnoski had flawless technique as you need to to be undersized so Costa would benefit from having him tutor him.
Doomsday101;4567408 said:I watched White play his entire career and he was great but this notion that guys back then could strap it on and get down with todays players? Yeah right give me a break. Todays guys are bigger, stronger and faster just as White generation was bigger, stronger and faster than the one before him.
White is a HOF player no one can take that from him but like many who played the game injuries caught up to him
Technique White is using is not new any longer and other player use it as well, you are not brining anything new to the table that todays players are unaware of
Doomsday101;4567759 said:Stepnoski was 6'02" 269 that is a bit different that 6'03" 314 where Costa is coming in. Comparing Costa size to many center he is not all that small.
Heck Maurkice Pouncey is 6'04" 304
AZBOYZFAN;4568629 said:I guess you didnt understand what I am say. So here
Stepnoski was undersized and played with flawless technique
Costa played with bad technique
Costa should learn his technique from Stepnoski so he doesnt play with bad technique
CoCo;4567688 said:Haven't read the book. I assume you mean "some" players.
BAT;4568623 said:You are delusional. Technique and fundamentals do not change all that much. I still teach the basics of catching, blocking and tackling to my peewee team that I was taught when I played in the peewees. If yesterday's players cannot teach technique and fundamentals, then what the heck are all these former players turned coaches good for???
And Randy White in today's weight program would be a complete beast. He would be much larger and faster than he was when he was completely dominating the opposition.
