Philip Buchanon Cut

I'd def. pick him up just for returns:)

and he is fast, so I bet he's great at the CB blitz

That would be classic if the took him back...

I would say they could use him but from what I seen last night it would take 50different players and a different coaching staff to make a difference in Oakland

He struggled in Oakland and he didn't pan out at all in Houston. His coaches felt that his coverage skills were badly overrated and Oakland felt that he didn't have the cognitive skills to learn better technique. He is terrible in zone coverage and easy to fool in man coverage. In short, he's a bust. It happens to teams. He was much too expensive for both Houston and Oakland. He would not fit in with the cowboys as virtually everyone on the roster has more potential.

You may be right, but we have an open roster spot...what can it hurt? I'm not sold on Green as a return man...we are still in need there.

Like I said, I'd pick him up just for his return ability.

Its the losing teams first, but a guy can if I am right not wish or go to that team, he could demand more money etc. Not sure about that but sure someone will clear it up for me.

Yet, remember, when we were being shut down in 1st half, Buchanon was out there, then he got dehydrated or so to speak they say. Thats his main issue, he gets hurt or tired, is what I have heard.

I think if he is claimed he has to go to that team , but he keeps his salary whatever it is right now.
If he clears waivers thean he starts out fresh without a contract as a free agent..

I am guessing he is making quite a bit and would not warrant his current contract but thats where the Commanders may come in

I can't believe that Washington would be after him.

He is not a very good corner. And they have plenty of "not very good" corners already.

The only real value of him is punt returner. But Danny S. paid about $512 billion to the great ARE to return punts for Washington.

Ok thanks cowboyjunkie, wasnt sure about that.

I was thinking, if anyone knows Buchanon, wouldnt it be Aaron Glenn, didnt he play with him, the preseason, etc, his last year with the Texans, before he came to Dallas?

I am not 100% positive about that but thats what memory tells me and my memory isnt what it used to be...
Me myself I would like to get him for the cash of what an average NFL punt return guy gets but I think he is still on his rookie contract and he was a 1st round pick but again I could be full of it because the memory is the first to go.

Remember when some wanted him over Roy?

This just proves once again that physical talent doesn't mean much if you're a don't-get-it knucklehead. Buchanon is just a little richer man's version of Derek Ross.

No. Unless I am mistaken Buchanon's pick up by Houston was the reason Aaron Glenn was released by that team. Buchanon was invited to Dallas with other potential draftees before that draft but didn't make a good impression, as I remember.

He'll be a Commander by Thursday. :D

Maybe he will get a salary like his boys Santana and Clinton. The Boys from the U seem to get mad paid in DC.

Sign him up. Put him back to return punts. Do this NOW.

All he is the evil twin to santana moss, really small, really fast and elusive, but he can't catch or cover anyone, a perfect match for the Commanders. If the raiders didn't want you and the texans cut you maybe he can go back to the U and see if he has an eligibility left it looks like the Canes could use some help.

Zimmer loved Buchanan, one of the scouts and Zimmer got into a huge fight over it....can't rem why I know that...

I also recall he had a "bad" attitude on his visit and something about his T-shirt he wore to the visit, I think it was another teams t-shirt or something.

The trade that brought him to Houston is indeed when they let Glenn go.

would seem to make sense with Glenn getting up there in age and with our punt return problems.

But I agree with Shuttemdown41, the Commanders will be all over this guy immediately.

This is awesome news. He could shore up our secondary for some time. We wouldn't need to draft a corner next year.

I say sign him and release Nate Jones.

Marcus Coleman is coming in as a safety not a corner. I'd say Elam would also probably be released, and maybe resigned to our practice squad.

LCB - Newman, Glenn, Reeves
SS - Williams, Davis
FS - Watkins, Coleman, Davis/Buchanon*
RCB - Henry, Buchanon, Coleman*
