If he's only going to return punts, ok. He should never be on the field in the secondary when the game is still in doubt though. A guy who is called P-Burnt(he has definitely earned it) by his own fans isn't a guy you want in the secondary.

Return man only, IMO.

A back nickle player at best, but Jaques Reeves and Nate Jones have that position covered quite well. I'd stick with our guys as back-ups.

But the dude has been spectaculiar for the big play. After further thought, since he would potentially be active for the return game, I might find some way to squeeze him in on the dime or nickle. The kid has made the big play on this level.

yeah, and he's given up alot more than he's made

he's a terrible cover CB, its why he doesnt see the field and why he just got cut

his NFL page has him at 5'11" IIRC on draft day they said he was too short to be a starting DB in the NFL I think they said he was like 5'8"

Everything about him has diminished since a solid statistical season in 2003. His punt return numbers haven't exactly been good these last three seasons.

I know the kid has had his issues but he was a 1st round pick and at one point was a solid starter in this league. Let's face it, how many will look good playing with the Raiders and Texans...

This could be a blessing in disguise... It could allow Buchanon to go opposite of Newman and move Henry back to his natural fit of Safety next to Roy... Henry has the size to play Safety and just maybe that move alone could be the missing piece to take the Cowboys into the playoffs and solidify the defense... Pat Watkins is very raw and we can not trust him to cover alone...

I don't know about this. CBs are a premiem position in the NFL. Good ones don't normally hit the streets. Buchannon is being cut from the second team he's played for. That says something I think. Besides, I don't love the idea of getting smaller at CB. Henry matches well with big WRs. Buchannon doesn't match up nearly as well IMO. Besides, Watkins needs the playing time if he's going to get better. Unfortunatly, that's part of playing young guys. You gotta live with there mistakes but in the long run, it will pay off.

I would rather see Henry helping out on Buchanon than Watkins helping out with Henry... Right now Buchanon is a better player than Watkins IMO... Again we are talking about the Texans here and the Raiders... When the Raiders went to the SB Buchanon was playing great with Woodson next to him... He had 8 INT's the first 2 years... If we don't someone will, don't expect to see this guy out there for long...

Now if the Cowboys were interested in Troy Vincent why not Buchanon...

All the more reason I wonder why he's out on the streets. I mean, a team can not have enough good young CBs on there roster. Why would one be availabe at this time of the year if there weren't more to the story?

I don't know how interested we were or were not in Vincent but I do know that Vincent played Safety. That's different then bringing in a guy to play CB and moving our starting RCB to Safety. I think there's more to this then what's being reported.

Yeah, he was part of that oustanding Secondary that the Hurricanes featured (Him, Reed and Rumpf) in their National Title Run.

Just couldnt cut the mustard at Cornerback.

I remember the Monday Night Game when Favre was playing just after losing his Dad. I just remember the Packers Receivers just totally working Buchanon that night.

Maybe thats why rector was cut because Skylar Green sure did not light it up returning punts and he scared the heck out of me with those off balance catches of his.
I've heard that Bill likes Skyler Green (and his arm). He had him lined up in the backfield Sunday, but what are the odds he'd let him chuck the ball?

Though, IMO, even if Green gives them that kind of option, Buchanan gives them depth in the 2ndary *AND* returns punts. We have depth at RB already. And you are 100% right...Green's returns were scary. I was waiting for him to fumble... didn't look any different than from pre-season

i would'nt touch buchanon with the thought of him being a regular or even nickle db. but as a return guy he has very good skills. so you have to see if he is affordable for just returns. someone may think he's better than what they have at cb and give him cb money. if so i would pass.he has been around long enough to know you can't depend on his cover skills

If I recall, the book on Buchannon coming out was great speed and quickness but technically, not as sound as he could be. Went for the INT a lot rather then covering. Could get burned in the NFL if not corrected. Also had discipline issues while at Miami. Size was an issue also. How stong could he be against bigger WRs or run support?

This is what I remember about this player coming out of college.

I think that Miami team was so talented that the extremely good players on that team elevated the play of the lessers among them.

No, its not. This guy sucks. If he gets any snaps on any defense, that team is in deep crap. Returner maybe, but not a corner.
