Philip Rivers, anyone?

I seriously don't see anyway the Chargers part ways with Brees next season. He is playing outstanding football and it appears that he finally has come around and last year wasn't a fluke.

Philip Rivers can be had.

How much are you willing to give up for him, if any at all?

I'd part with a first round pick and a player, depending on the player.

I live in North Carolina and watched almost every college game he ever played, so i'm a big fan from way back anyway. He is very good. I'd love to have him in Dallas.

If Parcells and company decided to mess around with Henson's mechanics, what are they going to do with Rivers?

Probably just me because I value draft picks but I'd rather keep the first rounder/player and take my chances with Henson, especially since Rivers is green.

No thanks! Rivers is very unproven. Why in the world would we waste a 1st rounder on a guy who has basically been on the bench for two years since coming out of college? Just doesn't make any sense at this time.

Rivers throws sidearmed, just like Henson. Apparently that's unacceptable to our coaching staff.

I'd take him, but not for a 1st rounder. I dont know what I would give up. No jones Witten. They would not want any O linemen we have and any we have that are good we cant afford to trade away. I dont wanna lose anyone on the D, certainly not a Ware Spears, Canty or Burnett. Maybe Spears or Burnett. Glover or Ellis? What to give up though - thats the question. I suppose Draft picks are less attached sentimentally, but are they more valuable then a proven up and comer? I dont think so. I just dont know what we would have to give up and I am not sure I wanna give it up, whatever it is.

exactly.......Rivers has more of a side arm delivery than Henson ever thought about having.

No he doesn't.

He certainly throws sidearm, but it's not like he does it all the time, or even most of the time.

Rivers is a side-armer.

Henson is actually more conventional - he has more of a 3/4 release.

Negatives: Won't ever hurt you by running with the ball, but has enough foot quickness and hip swerve to elude the rush and throw on the move … Needs to work on his foot quickness in his drops, but has made steady improvement in recent years … Throws the ball with a sidearm motion, but he can improvise and make plays with his creativity … Will struggle with his long tosses, as the ball will sail and hang on him (his best way to get the ball deep is through an awkward wind-up delivery) … His unorthodox style sees him keep the ball at his waist, displaying a low release, but he has good timing

Maybe they are messing with Hensons Mechanics cause they suck. Maybe Rivers can throw a good side arm. Certainly it cant be a surprise to everyone that he throws side arm. The Giants knew before drafting him, SD knew before trading for him. Seems these teams dont have a problem with his mechanics. You think if Brees was sucking it up he wouldn't be playing? I have never seen him throw but I know hes better then Henson is. Is he better then Bledsoe, I dunno, but I think he will be better then ok, sidearm or not.

Bledsoe is starting in Dallas for at least 2 more seasons (THrough the 2007 season). I do not see them looking for another back up QB until maybe the draft/Free Agency period in 2007 to sign a guy to sit behind Bledsoe for one year or MAYBE two.

The reasoning to my recollection was that a sidearmed release makes your passes easier to swat down at the LOS, and the conventional overhead release provides better passing lanes, etc. Personally, I wouldn't have messed with Henson's mechanics, and according to Mosley they reverted him back to his old motion. Probably already ruined whatever potential he may or may not have had.

Here's a good article about it..

Lee worked with Henson on raising his release by about a foot and eliminating the sidearm motion that can weaken a quarterback's power and accuracy. Henson's "dropwheel" release often resulted in batted down passes, but his new technique will allow him to get rid of the ball higher and quicker.
