I seriously don't see anyway the Chargers part ways with Brees next season. He is playing outstanding football and it appears that he finally has come around and last year wasn't a fluke.

Philip Rivers can be had.

How much are you willing to give up for him, if any at all?

I'd part with a first round pick and a player, depending on the player.

I live in North Carolina and watched almost every college game he ever played, so i'm a big fan from way back anyway. He is very good. I'd love to have him in Dallas.

Forget Rivers. His mobility is so bad he would make Drew Bledsoe look like Michael Vick. His arm strength is a question and his throwing mechanics are garbage.

I will take chances on Henson or whatever QB Parcells drafts in the future.

Maybe you guys havent noticed but Bledsoe doesn't exactly have your conventional over-the-top release you would think he has.

We have no idea if this kid can play. SD hasn't given him any audition time against real competition, so he's a total crapshoot. For that reason, you don't give up the farm.

Maybe they are messing with Hensons Mechanics cause they suck. Maybe Rivers can throw a good side arm. Certainly it cant be a surprise to everyone that he throws side arm. The Giants knew before drafting him, SD knew before trading for him. Seems these teams dont have a problem with his mechanics. You think if Brees was sucking it up he wouldn't be playing? I have never seen him throw but I know hes better then Henson is. Is he better then Bledsoe, I dunno, but I think he will be better then ok, sidearm or not.

Go back and look at Henson 2004 vs. Henson 2005.

Henson 2004 threw a consistent spiral with excellent velocity and accuracy and was good on the run. His issues were reading defenses and locking onto his primary receiver.

Henson 2005 threw lots of ducks with significantly poorer accuracy.

The attempt to change his mechanics was a colossal failure and has been abandoned.

Bledsoe is playing better than Brees, and Rivers can't beat out Brees, you do the math

and if the CHargers decide to get rid of Rivers, instead of Brees, maybe that should tell you that Rivers just isn't that good...

bernie kosar threw sidearm and he did alright if memory serves correctly... that being said, no way I would ship a high pick for him and that huge *** contract of his.

Yeah, Kosar and Ken Stabler threw sidearm/underhanded, but look at the hundreds or thousands of QBs with that release that don't make it. Vince Young throws like that and in college when you are a man among boys you can get away with it.

No to Rivers.

Rivers to Philly - I'll pay half.

Bledsoe is starting in Dallas for at least 2 more seasons (THrough the 2007 season). I do not see them looking for another back up QB until maybe the draft/Free Agency period in 2007 to sign a guy to sit behind Bledsoe for one year or MAYBE two.
Bledsoe isn't signed through 2007, so this is wishful thinking right now.

didn't Bledsoe sign a 3 year deal, that could be voided to 2?
Actually, you are right, but the 3rd year is a balloon payment that the team will probably opt out on unless he signs a renewal with a cap friendly option. I've always considered it a 2 year deal because that is how it is structured.

Rivers might be traded to Tennessee if Norm Chow has anything to say about it. Chow was quoted as saying a couple of years ago that " Phillip Rivers will take some team to the SuperBowl in the near future", Chow was his O-cordinator at N.C. State for a little while. Then again Tennesse may be in position to grab Chow's other star pupil "Leinart.

Henson's mechanics should have never been messed with. It would be a shame to give up on his potential after he had a set back that the coaching staff caused. Rivers is more of a sidearm thrower than Henson ever was. As for as Bledsoe goes, we will never go anywhere but home early from the playoffs with him at QB. :bang2:

I am not ready to give up altogether on Henson but I would be willing to add Rivers for a 2nd and a vet player we could replace in the draft.

Henson's failures fall squarely on his own shoulders. He is a professional and either can play or can't. So far he can't regardless of mechanics. Thus far we are 7-4 on the season so the coaching staff is doing its job.

He was doing fine his rookie year and regressed after they messed with his mechanics. I wouldn't say this falls squarely on his shoulders at all.

Blame it on the brass.

I also watched Rivers in college and would take him in a heartbeat! The kid can flat out play football. He makes plays, he improvises, and he has outstanding touch on the ball.

He totally screwed himself by listening to his agent and holding out. He would have been the starter in San Diego since Brees had had a couple of sub-par seasons. By holding out, he forced the Chargers to start Brees and he stepped up big time for them. Now his chances of starting there are limited to an injury to Brees.

If he hasn't lost his confidence then he should still be a very good QB for someone next season. Unfortunately, I don't see him coming to Dallas despite my desire to see it happen. He doesn't really fit Parcells style that well and Bill doesn't like to trade away high draft picks, especially for a player who isn't likely to start right away.

Mark my words though, where ever he ends up he will be a good one.
