Most of what you say isn't that bad...however I cannot accept the fact that you are happy with "real progress and real opportunity". What the hell is that?

Before last year the team was set to take it all remember? Then last year they were suppossed to be crappy so expectations fell. When was that allowed to EVER happen in this city?

When was December wins a goal????????????? Think about what you are saying and ask yourself this. WHAT HAPPENS THIS YEAR IF THEY DON NOT GET TO THE BIG GAME...will you say the same things again??? If they get to the NFC Championship would that still be "progress." Welcome to low expectations is okay 101

well I see how you are interpreting my post there, but you are using my post to say what you want it to mean. For example: Much of my post is a speaking of past tense, about last year and year's past. If you asked me last year if December wins and a playoff win would be good enough for me, and I would tell you no, it is not good enough. I always want a superbowl appearance and I expect it every single year, but the difference I think you are pulling out of my post is that I know we are not going to the superbowl every year no matter how much I expect it or want it.

I have been around this pony ride long enough to know what is going to get us there and what is not. We were a very good team in the latter half of last year, and could of went all the way, just that Minnesota wanted it more and our boys kind of fell apart in that game. Was I angry during and after that game, yeah sure I was. We have had time to regroup our feelings and look back and yeah, it was a good season. Not lowered expectations at all, just expectations not met like most years, so I naturally formulate that and take that into account and see what is working, talent that is on the field, progress made as a team unit, etc... and in that I see progress and a "successful" season - not because they won in dec or had a playoff win but rather because in a year like many other years that they (along with 29 other teams) didnt make the SB, they come together as a SB caliber unit ready to make that leap and why I believe this year should be something great.

As much as I just love Cowboy football and with all I said above, when they do not make it and that goes for this year as well, I do not go cross burning or quit my job or anything like that. There does come another year and there are alot more important things in life than some football game. I think most diehard fans like myself will say the same.

Chris, if you, in your wildest imaginations actually think this team is not trying to win a Super Bowl then I suggest a lobotomy. Guess what ace, those things don't just happen. You don't have a birthright to them. They are rare and precious and wait for it...they require forward progress.

If you can't figure that out, then I don't know why you even follow sports. It seems to be a waste of time.

What a revolutionary idea, you have to move toward something in order to reach it.

i know that too...what my point is is that i feel too many are satisfied with just being "there" and NOT what you put in your 1st paragraph about December and Playoffs...hell even the owner celebrated taking monkeys off of backs...it runs downhill.

Longer for some teams. Are they not trying? It isn't an A + B + C = D solution. Sorry to get to basic common sense, but it's the truth.

Why did the ho hum? Because she forget the words.

There were some dark times, no doubt. These are not those times. You criticize people for holding on to past glory, yet you are unable to separate the negative past from the present.

The reality is that the franchise is in good shape to win in the playoffs and contend for a championship. Do you see that word, championship? People are happy with the progress we've made in recent years because we're in a position to make a run at a championship. We all want another Super Bowl. That completely flies in the face of the notion that fans are content with just winning a single playoff game.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp unless you're just willfully being dense.

Your line of thinking is the same that led to some fans suggesting that we needed to look for another option at QB, because Romo "couldn't" win the big game. It's moronic.

what?

you said we were going to go 5-11 last year.

how can a person who predicts 5-11 for "his" team then turnaround and be mad they did not make the superbowl?

and then in some bizzarro world runaround blaming one of the most dedicated fan bases in the league?

The 1977 season. We beat the Broncos in Super Bowl XII, that's 12 for you non Romans.

15 years later...1977 + 15 = 1992...the 1992 season. Super Bowl XXVII. That's 27 for you non Romans.

12 + 15 = 27

The math always works.

I suppose you're going to tell me that in the interim the Cowboys weren't trying to win another one?

You're spoiled QC, and not in a good way. You've allowed bitterness to push you to unrealistic expectations that cause you to demonize words like progress and forward. Comparing the Cowboys to the Eagles just further exemplifies why you just don't get it.

That's a real shame. Waste of good synapses to have such low thoughts manifest themselves.

b) bbgun doesn't stand for the status quo...I haven't read enough of his postings to check. I am basing what I say off what I read here. I am sure however if he disagreed with the status quo that he was bashed too because rose colored glasses seem to be a fashion accessory around arlington these days.

Hey, I'm all for change, provided there's some logic behind it. You seem to want us to emulate Philly, but in many respects, we already have. We've gotten rid of aging or expensive guys like Ellis, Henry, TO and Flo in recent years, so who exactly did you have in mind?

I already asked this.

He wants everyone to be pissed off that we lost to Minnesota and never see or appreciate forward progress because of that loss. That loss is the epicenter of bad karma gonna get ya.

If he wants to be loved, he should go back to shouting at Ed, Jen, or fill in the blank.
