That happened to me in 1988 at the Superdome. I was obviously pregnant at the time, too. Saints fans are a close 2nd to Eagle fans.

Huh. I was at the Saints game in 2009 when the Cowboys went in and surprised them, and credit to all the fans around me, they were really nice. Good conversation, good natured ribbing but overall we were there to enjoy the great game of football.

Chiefs
Seahawks
Bills
Patriots
Bears
Packers

There is a list very quickly of teams that traditionally have a great home field/crowd advantage without the reputation described in this thread.

EDIT: Oops forgot about the Bears stabbings. Chalk that one up to the Raiders/Eagles style.

Still - it is possible to have a great home field advantage and reputation without creating an environment that families couldn't enjoy.

There was a local story on the news here in Buffalo that said it was a potentially "dangerous" place for visiting fans, especially in the parking lots. I can attest to this after the Monday night Dallas game. A cop asked us to please take our gear off walking to the car.

But -- enough of the negatives. Please...please...please every fan who reads this - if you ever want to have the greatest away game experience go to San Diego. It's indescribably beautiful with perfect weather all the time and the people are great - mostly because half the stadium (and I'm not exaggerating) is Cowboy fans.

One of the greatest trips you could ever take. Please put it on your list.

The fact that some animals were pouring beer on kids is disgusting. I would fear for the safety of any guy pouring beer on a kid if I saw that mess.

Otherwise great game to be at! Must be nice to see the X get thrown up quite a handful of times :)

Didn't 2 people get stabbed at the Cowboys Bears game ?

As far as the beer pouring / throwing I am not suprised a bit and stated that would be expected if seats were on the upper level and people wear Cowboys gear.

I would bet that there are drunken fans that throw beer at plenty of stadiums in the upper levels.
That's my thought.

I'd never take my kid to that place because we'd all be going to jail for sure if they through beer on my kid. I'd definitely fight the person(s) who did that kind of bull****.

Happened to me and my dad who is a decorated nam combat vet. I was 11 - the beer cups and pretzels rained down on us and there were a dozen insanely drunk guys spoiling for a fight. Luckily, they doused some equally belligerent guys in the row behind us and it turned into a melee. Can't be a tough guy with a kid in that situation.

I was in some million dollar box on Sunday and the 2 kids (sons of the box's owner's clients) that initially wore Cowboys jerseys somehow "lost" them or got wise by the 2nd half.

The good thing is, after a loss, they all turn into self loathing puppies and it's fairly safe to leave the stadium.

I wish it were man, but no they actually did. I was amazed, i saw it on my way out at the half. Group of idiots probably 20-30 of them all hammered, whats the poor kids father going to do? Get up and fight it would have been a death wish.

I believe you - been to 5 Philly-Dallas games in Philly and have seen things that would make your stomach turn. Completely classless and ignorant fan base with a rapid jealousy of the Cowboys. I'm always particularly appalled at how they treat kids at those games.

FYI I never wear the jersey to the games. Call me a coward but I just don't want to deal with the BS.

The Eagles fans pride themselves on getting obliterated in the parking lot and showing up just in time for the kickoff with a maximum buzz. The lines at the gate at 8:15 were insanely long.

Home safe and sound from Philadelphia. Had a great time. If I could sum up the trip in one word. I'd say it was entertaining. Every city obviously has bad apples, but wow Philadelphia fans for the most part were not that bad. I was sitting literally in the worst part of the stadium with my cowboys jersey on. I got heckled yeah, but nothing too bad. I thought I was in for a good time. Until halftime. The feeling I had in my stomach told me to get out of their immediately. That is when the fans turned into the classless bottom feeding rejects we have all heard about. Pouring beer on kids wearing youth cowboys jerseys, throwing footballs at cowboys fans (me) . Then. Literally every single time the refs called a penalty completely going off and losing their minds saying jerry paid them off it was easily one of the quickest turn around I've ever seen at a sporting event. Would I go back? Not to watch the Cowboys play. Met some excellent people mostly cowboys fans ate a great cheesesteak and had a good time with my friends, saw some amazing architecture and beautiful brownstone mansions the hotel staff were awesome just that damn toilet of a stadium was not a good experience at all. Next year I'm going to Dallas. Too watch a real team play and meet fans that care about the sport more about their own hatred.

I attended the game as well. A good friend of mine owns a a beer distributor and often receives tickets from the manufacturers as incentives - sometimes they're box seats, sometimes they're nosebleeds, and sometimes they're in the Eagle's Nest (where ours ended up being). Everyone in the Nest was slightly aggressive in their heckling prior to the game but kept it mostly civil. There was only one other Cowbro there who cheered through the first three scores with me. We then decided to stop being so demonstrative with our glee before everyone got all stabby on us.

I would say the major shift in body language and general atmosphere came midway through the third. Like you said, there was loads of ref-blaming, followed by Romo name-rhyming, followed by heckling. Luckily I'm a larger guy (6'3, 255lbs) so no one really came up to me with their garbage talk. But they made sure to shout it at me every 10 minutes or so when I would walk past them or from across the Nest. The other Cowbro I had met there (smaller guy) was actually being followed and heckled everywhere by an older Philthy fan, and came to stand by me to be left alone.

On the way out of the stadium I had fully covered up and had none of my blue visible - thank god I brought that extra jacket. I saw everything from throwing beer (and beer cans) at Cowbros to sitting behind their cars so they couldn't leave the parking lot. The Subway (that's right... I took SEPTA) ride back was equal parts depressing and hysterical. The depressing part came when the one visible Cowboys couple on my car was verbally bullied off at the first stop - how that guy made it off that car not swinging with what they were saying about his girlfriend/wife is beyond me. The hysterical part came during the downward spiral of game analysis and introspection during the ride.

"THOSE REFS WERE IN JERRY'S POCKET!!!"
"WHATEVER....AT LEAST TONY WON'T EVER WIN ANYTHING..... LOLOLOL!!"
"I wish we had their OL though....."
"FLETCHER IS HORRIBLE.... OUR WHOLE SECONDARY BESIDES JENKINS IS HORRIBLE!!!"
"They've actually quietly drafted role players well and built up a great base...."
"WE WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING WITH CHIP WITHOUT AN ELITE QB!!"
"CHIP SHOULD BE ON THE HOTSEAT RIGHT NOW. I COULD SEE US DROPPING HIM!!!"
"MCCOY NEEDS TO STOP DANCING AND ACTUALLY GET UPFIELD!! WE MIGHT WANNA START SPROLES!!"

The emotional unraveling was comically quick. I just sat there laughing maniacally in my head.

Comments: Lincoln Financial is a pretty stadium with great character. It's hard to not be jealous of the fight song being played after every score while the entire stadium sings along and fireworks go off. While the general climate of the fanbase is dark with a chance of torrential ******-baggery, I did meet several Eagles fans who were pleasant and just wanted to chill and talk football and NFCE with me. I wouldn't go back, and I would advise all Cowboys fans visiting to only wear their jerseys in the stadium or away from their vehicles. Be a gracious guest in their home and take what they with a grain of salt and you should be fine. My favorite recommendations for are at either Steve Prince of Steaks or John's Roast Pork: Pat's, Geno's and Tony Luke's are all severely overrated albeit local icons.. Also, if you get the chance, try a roast pork sandwich (loads of places offer it). It has been an up-and-coming sandwich of the city for over the last decade that many consider better than cheesesteaks. While I don't agree with that specific sentiment, I will agree that they are damn good!

I wouldn't call that Coward I would call that smart. You have to live in the philly area to understand the level of hatred toward Cowboys. You really are putting yourself in danger by wearing cowboys jersey at Eagles game. It only takes one drunken eagle fan to single you out and then its on. I have seen it get very ugly at games. My cousin runs construction company in philly suburbs and his workers talk freely about their violent run in with cowboy fans. They wear their bad reputation like a badge. My advice is go to Dallas to see a game...much better stadium, team and fans.

So, let me get this straight.... An eagle threw a football at a cowboy?

Your dad showed some great self control there. That's good.

Best one I've had has been at DiNic's at Reading Terminal Market. Good stuff!

Southwest airlines flies from Buffalo to Dallas, and Rochester to Dallas. Between now and then, you could probably get a "wanna get away" deal for the flight. Just a thought.

Yeah I wanted to see a dallas game though. Won't be until next season my man.
