Pic of McFadden run against Vikings

mattjames has been rooting for Randle to fail, so OF COURSE is he going to pick out 1 play to support his agenda. Randle could have done better on this run, but Randle has made something out of nothing or a lot out of a little many times, so its really a mute point.

I'm not "rooting" for him to fail. I praised him in the San Fran game and thought he did some nice things.

And no, I didn't pick out one play. I said he missed an obvious hole that would have shown the coaches something and would have not only sustained the drive, but made his night look a little more productive with his limited touches. I also pointed out that he was bad in pass blocking, which I and many others pointed out. Something that is disappointing because he actually looked good last year with his blocking.

I'm not rooting for him to fail, if he comes in and is a 1,000 yard rusher for us; I'm happy. If he's in a backup role and he produces like he did last year in a limited amount of carries, I'm happy. I'm simply saying, this is how you lose a battle for the starting job. McFadden capitalized on his opportunities. He's already known to be a great pass blocker and he showed the other night that he has some juice left. If he stays healthy, that's a whole other discussion.

Randle just provided us evidence that he's not ready for the starting job.

Please be good to each other in the thread here, guys. There's no reason for animosity. This was a good play for the Cowboys in a game that didn't count; we should all be happy.

Last time we saw a hole that wide, the ball was fumbled.

Ugh bad memories lol

Is it me or is it like watching Randal in slo mo on his 11 yard run after watching McFadden's two longer runs?

Wow he can move....and at that size. Impressive.

Randle seemed indecisive last game, regardless of the blocking.
He didn't seem that way last year so here's to hoping it was not the norm.

I think Dmac and Randle will be fine. Here's the thing, everyone is saying Dmac 12-14 carries per game. If he is absolutely tearing it up with big runs how the hell do you limit him to that? I personally think he is in for a big year...IF he stays healthy, but I have been saying that since we first signed him. All he needs is a crease and it's off to the races. Seems to me he will also be great on draws down near the goal line.
They'll go with the hot hand.

lol But, you are asking a 110 lb kid to block a 260 lb? He at least tried...

Oh pshh, You can tell Beasley was throwing 110% of every pound of himself into that block.... in a pre-season game. THAT is the kind of effort that shows up on film that the younger WRs will see and hopefully emulate

You are being overly critical and unrealistic.

What RB could live up to these standards?

Murray was really good at the point of contact on his pass blocking but don't act like the guy didn't miss an assignment from time to time.

And don't act like he didn't have a fumbling problem.

And don't act like he didn't miss holes.

Everybody would love to have Emmitt Smith who was perfect at everything but those guys are few and far between.

No doubt about it McFadden has more speed that Randle. How the carry situation works out who knows but I think if McFadden can stay healthy he has a chance to turn things around in his career.

I feel like Randle can pick his way through traffic better.

If the play gets blocked right I want McFadden to have the ball because he will punch the gas and be into the secondary in a split second.

If there is a lot of trash I feel like Randle has the patience and vision to pick his way through it.

So far we have seen McFadden have 2 really nice runs in our zone scheme. We haven't seen him do much running the power plays.

I'm surprised McFadden didn't stop and bask in the glory of a running lane.............

What is unrealistic here? That a guy doesn't screw up on the 6 carries he gets? That's not asking much. No one is saying he should have ran for 100 on those carries.

I have never once stated Murray was a good blocker, Murray had a stint of games he fumbled and then went what, nearly 200 carries without fumbling? Yeah, he most likely did miss a hole a time or two...he carried the dang ball nearly 400 times.

But Murray broke a record on his first start in the NFL, he proved he could be a 1,000 yard back, he got into the record books in 2014. You don't bench a guy like that because he's not an elite blocker. Dunbar has shown to be average in nearly every part of his game outside of being a change of pace back.
