I hate to do any evaluations after watching highlight reels because you never see any of their negative plays like hesitation in the hole or missed blitz pick ups. With that being said the kid looks to be a pretty solid back.

He's not a home run threat by any stretch of the imagination but he seems to know his limitations and uses pretty damned good vision to make up for his lack of top end speed. It seems he is pretty good at working in traffic, though he won't see some of those same horrible angles taken by the defense in the NFL. Another thing that stands out is the fact that he seems to have pretty damned good balance. This kid isn't going to get arm tackled at any level of football (college or pro).

I don't think I'd categorize him as a either a burner or a bruiser. Just a solid back. I wish there would have been more footage of him catching the ball out of the backfield as this was one of the things that I heard was a strength by posters when he was drafted. Not a bad pick at all, though. It will be interesting to see him in camp and pre-season.

funny how Randle is every bit as good as Felix was coming out of college except that Randle actually had huge numbers to back it up....Felix goes in rd 1 and Randle in rd 5. Similarly, Demarco was actually tons better (with eye-popping stats and highlights) than Felix and goes round 3. Can already say Demarco turned out way way better. I'm betting Randle is significantly better pro than Felix also.
Believe someone was lecturing me about how the team is so much smarter than me for picking players to fit their system over my objections to just take the best possible player and the Felix pick is a great example of how the couch scouts get things right as much or more than our war room does, sadly.

Remember, Felix shared with Run DMC. Felix had that unbelievable yards per carry. That said, I wanted someone else instead of Felix that draft.

I like the Randle pick.

Well there was also Ray Rice and Mendenhall.

Mendenhall turned out to be just as much of a dud as Felix. I'd probably still take Felix over him.

Ray Rice and Chris Johnson would've been nice though.

When it's all said and done I think Rice will be the best of the lot and what was he a 5th rounder?

Some teams say you should take a QB almost every draft, I feel that way about a RB. Even in today's pass happy league a good back is imperative, ask San Fran and Baltimore - I know those teams built great lines through the draft but Gore in the 3rd and Rice in the 5th are incredible value.

Long time OSU season ticket holder. Watched him in person for 3 years - very good all around back. Great hands - catches virtually everything. Gundy had mentioned in 2011 that Randle never drops a pass in practice. Best description I can give is he's a glider - makes guys miss, then finishes the run.

He's not a power back, but can lay the wood if he needs to. Hits the hole very fast. Previous posts were correct in that he's alot like Murray without the breakaway speed. Very good body lean - he's always leaning forward and getting as much as he can.

He was nicked up a few times and missed some games here and there (ankle I think), but overall pretty durable. He needs to work on ball security (which is obviously fixable) - he's had a couple of games where fumbling was an issue.

Loved watching him play.

Thoughts?

not sure why Dallas added another RB who is most similar to their starter (murray). I thought idea was to alternate a RB who kept defense off-balance with different style. Teams now can prepare for just one running style.

That was one of my favorite things about him, too. They throw to him a lot, and not just dump-offs, and he has good hands -- very natural.

Plus he's a good blocker. I bet he starts out as our third down back.

I remember a few guys on this board wanting Mike Hart from Michigan. They said he would be the best of the bunch because he had the biggest heart(no pun intended) and was a fiery leader.

One of my favorite picks in the draft. I really like Randall I think he and Murray will make a heck of a combo.
