Difference is I think Brown can be a 1 tech who offers some pass rush and could possibly also play some 3 tech.

Don't know if they see it that way or not.

But I think he would be the highest rated player on the board of the ones mentioned.

i agree but i feel the cowboys dont feel that way.Shariff floyd was even more athletic and they didnt draft him .i think Brown is terrific against the run and he can really push the pocket and commands double teams but the cowboys want somebody like Leonard williams who is equally good against the run and pass in the first rd.

Take Brown. He has some pass rush and abs don't like to be rush up the middle. Brown, Crawford, Hardy, and Lawrence would be a very good line that would make our CBs better.

Really, I would be happy with any of them and the only one that doesn't make sense is Erving, and he's a very good player.

If I had to choose, I'd probably say Brown first.

Then Kevin Johnson.

Then Gordon.

Then Dupree.

And finally Erving.

Dupree is a terrific athlete but I worry about him as a football player. Not terribly instinctive.

Both Johnson and Gordon will be very good, IMO, and so will Brown.

Just an opinion but I don't think they viewed Floyd as a 3 Tech at all and not a pass rushing threat at 1 tech at all.

He has 6.5 sacks this past season....Floyd had 4.5 in his last two years in college.

In order of preference:

Brown
Dupree
Gordon
Johnson
Erving

Really don't want us to spend another 1st rounder on CB given our recent success. I think DT is a much bigger need anyway.

Brown, only other consideration on my behalf would be Dupree.

Brown then Dupree here as well. You win in the trenches, a push up the middle is key, a speed rush guy is also a 'wouldbe' solid move.

Over the last decade the NFL has changed so that the game relies on safety and time for your QB to stay upright, more than ever before. It would be beneficial to remain ahead of that curve. You can pick the best DBs but if Rogers has all day unmolested to find his WRs- we're sinking in the same boat as 2014.

A) DE Bud Dupree
B) RB Melvin Gordon
C) DT Malcom Brown
D) CB Kevin Johnson
E) C/OT Cameron Erving

Dupree
Brown (He has pass rush ability and can play in the Nickel, IMO)
Johnson
Erving (I'm letting need influence me because this might be the best player in the list. He is really underrated, IMO.)
Gordon - Trade Down if possible

Dupree for me. He needs some technique work, but with Hardy and Dlaw here, this year he can focus on that and not be depended on as much.

I don't think Brown and Shelton are in the same boat as a Goldman or Phillips. Shelton probably won't be an elite sack numbers guy, but he should provide plenty of disruption and push into the backfield. Brown provides more pass rush, but struggles against double teams. I think he's more of a hybrid 3T/1T in this scheme and will be pulled on some obvious run downs.

I like Brown, from this list as well. However, I am not convinced that we will consider a DT in the first this year, based on the players we currently have signed. I think we might have what we will go with as a starter on the roster now. Who are we cutting if we draft Brown?

I don't love Johnson as much as some so if I had to pick somebody from this list, I guess I would go with Dupree.

I don't think Dupree or Brown will be there at our pick so it is probably moot anyway.

Prior to signing Hardy, I was not really high on OO. I didn't think he was the guy we could bring in and get immediate sack/pressure production out of. However, now that we have signed Hardy, I'm wondering if we might not reconsider a player like OO. He can be a contributor as a strong side DE right now, IMO but he may be able to develop into a Weakside pass rusher as well. That's something that would be a bit of a gamble but with Hardy in the fold, it might be something that you could take a bit of a gamble with. If it worked out and he could become a Weakside Rush DE, you could then move Hardy to the strongside and you would have a really nice set of DE's who could apply pressure. I'm kinda warming up to that idea a little bit. No idea if this is what the team might think or not but I'm starting to kinda like that idea.

Future of OO and Lawrence?

Looks like they are bringing in OO...one of the few DE or Dlinemen for that matter that have 1st round grades that they are bringing in.

Yeah. I'm actually hoping Hardy as well on the strong side but Lawrence and OO on the rush side would be sweet. You could move Hardy down to 3tech and OO or Lawrence over to Strong Side in pass rush sitos and be really tough.
