Picken annoyance part 2

Since you brought up Jimmy.......he once was asked, and I'm paraphrasing too......A reporter asked Jimmy if he would treat his star QB, Troy Aikman, the same way as a third-string linemen, if he caught both sleeping in the team meeting?".........He replied, "Absolutely not, one gets cut immediately, and Troy would be asked if he needed a cup of coffee." Translation: Production accepts tolerance. Low production means you get cut, embarrassed and get no tolerance. It's that simple. Let's not make more out of it than necessary. This ain't his journey in Pittsburgh.

Since you have Dak in this......without Pickens, I agree that Dak's numbers would be lower. Where we going with this?
Agreed on Jimmy and his stance. Exactly what I was driving at

As for your last paragraph
Not bashing Dak just being honest. So please yobwocs etc, don't turn this into another Dak discussion. Just making a point that having more weapons helps everyone including and especially the QB
I thought this paragraph pretty much explained my stance.

To be fair to Pickens this is kind of what you get with WRs these days. A lot of them have that diva mentality and focus more on their personal battles with DBs than the scoreboard.

The worst thing I ever saw a Cowboys receiver do was Antonio Bryant in 2002. Dallas was losing 37-0, he grabbed a touchdown, and slammed the ball over the goalpost and celebrated as if he just scored the game winner in the Super Bowl.

I feel like you don't remember Irvin very well. Almost every time he got a first down, he did that weird stretching squat, reach the ball toward the end zone thing. Back then, that was seriously showboating.
You're thinking about Bill Bates whenever he would make a special teams tackle.

I made a past post about Pickens and his tomfoolery during games were dallas is getting stomped and fellow fans jumped down my back about it.

I am continuing to stand on it. The guy yet again found a way to taunt during another uneven game that didn't include the cowboys on the high end, only this time it drew a flag.

I dont care how good he is, make your play and get back to the huddle for the next.

Imagine dallas actually being in a game and stupidity like that actually cause them the game (example, a flag actually knocking them out of winning FG range or some other crazy situation that can effect game outcome.

He wants to do things like this on a your where the league is super strict on taunting. If this was two years ago then ok, but not in 2025.

The guy is an idiot with talent....in a nutshell.
Have you watched any Steelers games the past few years?

I agree.....just don't know why Dak was mentioned regarding any behavioral concerns for Pickens. He's entitled to have a moment, (I think) just like CD was once Meltdown Lamb for a moment who certainly helps our QB and in kind the favor gets returned.. I think we're good and in agreement about Pickens.

My favorite all time example of this was in one of Campo’s 5-11 seasons Darren Hambrick, yes the famous Darren Hambrick what do voluntary mean, got a TFL in the last game of the season and he started dancing. We were getting completely blown out and even the game announcers were saying “just go back to the huddle, you’re getting blown out on a 5-11 team”. I was like wow I’ve never heard the announcers say something like that.

Darren Hambrick, so many memories
He was hilarious. Remember how he would always tackle someone and then help himself up by pushing down on their shoulder pads? I remember a Giants player scored touchdown and then kneeled down in the end zone with the ball, Hambrick stares at him for a few seconds and then walks up and knocks the ball out of his hand as he still kneeling. He was a nut. I hated seeing him go.

And then he went to Carolina and said he didn't get a game check when he did so they mailed a duplicate out and then figured out what happened and cut him.

Wow I didn’t know about the Carolina game check incident. What an idiot. Don’t throw away your career over that.

Gotcha

I don't think Dak and Pickens attitude are connected at all. Agreed there.

I basically was saying I want Pickens on the field because he's a good weapon and I'm willing to deal with a little side stuff like the taunting foul (as long as its rare) because the guy moves the needle and makes our team tougher to defend

I appreciate the concept, but bro, let's stay focussed on the defense if were talking about identifying our biggest problems. This is minor.

If Murray and LBs didn't look like they were lost or on roller skates and the secondary wasn't blowing coverages all game, we could enjoy some occasional taunting, take our 15-yarder like a man, and still go get a W.

Our real problem is we've had a bunch of soft JAGs playing defense and getting dog-walked up down the field. I'm sure Pickens will grow up sooner or later.

Hopefully, the incoming defensive troops get the train back on the tracks after the bye. But Pickens? Last time I checked he's #3 in yards and #4 in TDs. Let a player taunt every now and then. He's top of the food chain.

I agree with most of this......not sure why Dak & Pickens attitude can be surmised since that would be conjecture or subjective, from where we stand. We need to ask them. I've been saying the same about Pickens on the filed......just differently and not concerned about past Pittsburgh transgressions. I don't require Pickens to be enjoying milk & cookies out there. And I actually like guys that play with passion and performance (see my avatar) that need to be reined in vs having to be.pushed, pampered, or coddled, come game day. Now if emotions are causing too much of the wrong things or hampering production........we are having a problem. But we know how that goes sideways, off course, stopped, or considered a detriment on this board sometimes. I definitely don't prefer a player that checks out, taps out, "quits", or exhibits being mentally done. All good BoysForLife......all good. Go #3.

If I was a player and I scored a touchdown or made a big play I would get so sick and tired of the ref staring me down. It's just creepy. And I don't know why they banned CD from doing the nose wipe gesture. What harm does that cause? I will never understand that.
the nfl, mainly goodell, wants to maintain what they think is a wholesome image.
Anything that offends or is tacky they will get rid of it,other stuff which many of us might not like, they will allow or even encourage.
they want female viewers more than male viewers, and that is why anything that might offend them they will get rid of.
Thats why they dont showcase cheerleaders anymore.
One thing that irritates me is their add type brodcast , where they have 100 cameras and bounce from one to another showing stuff I dont care to see, and not enough of what I do want to see. Sometimes they barely get back to showing line when ball is snapped !

Pickens isn’t the issue at all. Honestly the offense is better when Pickens is the WR1

It’ll never happen but a smart team would see if we could trade CeeDee. Have really never been impressed with him and certainly less so this year

Can't all be boyscouts. Especially WR's. You're gonna have guys that get animated. It's an aggressive sport. I love Pickens and hope hes extended and becomes a Cowboy for life
Absolutely agree. I love fire and passion out of my players and I can live with one or two er.. over zealous penalties in exchange for massive production. As I said, my fear with Pickens is the number of times I see him half assin his route when he knows the ball probably aint comin to him. On one play he was supposed to be clearing out for the underneath throw to Turp but he barely jogged 7-8 yards off the ball so when the throw came to Turp there were three defenders right there waiting for him. I do think Pickens CAN grow out of some of this stuff.. but people probably said the same thing about Antonio Brown.. Some guys never progress beyond that knucklehead stage and you just put up with it as long as they are great players. See the Cowboys with Dez..

I agree Soupcan, these players today seem to want to celebrate every successful play. Forget about the other 10 players that had a part in it, look at me. I swear I see players exhibit more energy getting up from a tackle, than trying to avoid being tackled. Every successful play is not worth a flex, scream, or running 20 yards down the field. Old school fan over and out
If you weren't going to sign every player that did that you wouldn't be able to fill your roster.
