Pickens appears to be a poor risk

What isnthe deal with having to play the media game their way?

If you don't allow them to attack you or let them set you up....You're the bad guy regardless. Shedeur. Case in point. T.O., case In Point.

Why do you have to be their abuse subject. And if you don't allow them to attack you, you're the bad guy?

"Thats just the way it is"

I mean, media has time and time again been ruthless to players. And, I dont want to hear the good cop bad cop excuse...they are all one and the same when their producer/editor tells them to be.

Weird how players aren't allowed to protect themselves from media...and everyone is on the media's side about it. Hmm.

So. You signed up to play in nfl which has tv/network deals. So you have to answer questions in a certain tone and demeanor or you're a misfit?

And, I wasnt a fan of Belichecks ways with media back in the day
But I don’t think this guy was saying that. He was saying from Day 1 he wasn’t going to be nice and treated them as lesser beings. Sorry but if you get paid, be nice and play the game. Add it to his other antics and he seems immature.

Couldn't agree more. Listening to Matt Williamson on his podcast who works on/off for the Steelers he didn't doubt is ability but said no one in the Steelers organisation wanted to hang around with him.
Number 1 WRs hang out with QBs. Like CD's locker was right next to Dak until this season. So who, exactly, have the Steelers had at QB again?

Give the kid a chance. Tomlin is a old school, hard nose coach that is all about his defensive. Let's see how he responses with a more laid back environment with one of the QB leaders in the league.

Voch Lombardi & Broadus were gushing over him saying he was a # 1 type WR . I would not have traded for him if I couldn’t get an extension on the rookie deal otherwise next season you’re looking at WR again minus your third rounder . I think the other pick they gave up is the 27 draft , hopefully .
Worst case is they get a 4th round pick back. We could also get a 3rd or franchise him and trade for a 1st

If he works out, we could also sign him.

There's almost no risk.

If you followed what I was replying to, Dak.
Bahahaha.... im pretty sure they signed dak to a 60 million per year deal, and you think they will do what? Trade him? Can't, no trade clause. Release him? Not a chance. He's our guy for a while, like it or not.

But doesnt this move (along with Booker and Blue and New HC) allow us to evaluate Dak, WITH NO EXCUSES?
We either set a foundation for 2026, or we break it up, at which time we re-coup something for Pickens.
I guess it depends. For me Dak is 100% a known entity and he's not the answer.

Not only are we giving up a 3rd and a 5th next year but we basically are signing him for only one season. On a team that isn’t one player away.

His rookie deal runs out and why Steelers traded him as he seems unwilling to negotiate. On top of that he’s a head case. His emotions are difficult to keep in check.

He was fined for using an expletive on his eye black against the Cowboys. He also drew wide spread criticism in 2023 for what could generously be described as the attentive downfield blocking for his teammates.

Considering his volatility, the Steelers didn’t seem interested in signing Pickens to a contract extension running out of patience for the talented but mercurial former 2nd round pick. A 3rd and 5th looks like they found an anxious taker.
Keep in mind that a 3rd and a 5th next year is equivalent to a 4th and a 6th right now.

I guess you're unware of the 6th we get from the Steelers or the fact that we will get a comp pick back if he signs elsewhere. These posts about this trade are ridiculous.

Other teams have ditched extremely high contracts and came out alive. But Jerry being jerry... you could be right.

A controversial WR?

Not exactly unchartered territory for this franchise.

I would say the Cowboys have a unique talent for excusing poor behavior by a star receiver.

From Bob Hayes and Michael Irvin's drug problems to Dez Bryant stiffing jewelers to Lance Rentzel exposing himself to preteen girls to TO being TO......Am I scared of Picken's behavior?

Please!
