Pickens is worth the gamble!

We're gonna be so dangerous on offense. We haven't had receiver talent this peaked out since the Irvin days.

You can say Amari. But Lamb is more developed and Pickens is just entering the prime of his career. Factor that in with an improving Tolbert and we suddenly have a top 3 WR room in the league.

-Just 24, with zero injury concerns
-He is comp eligible, meaning worst case, if he leaves in 2026, Cowboys would receive a pick back.
-Will be motivated, playing on a contract year.
-Excellent complement to Lamb, where teams will think twice about doubling Lamb on every pass
-He could easily step into the #1 WR role if Lamb ever went down with injury.
-Late Day 2 pick isn't a big cost, considering his age and production. There won't be a better receiver to draft in the 3rd rd.
-Dak/Lamb just signed big extensions, it will be up to them to keep Pickens in line.
-Jerry always does an extensive background check around the league about the player.
-He has never been an off the field problem with the law, is well liked, where he simply needs to grow up.
Well said. But many fans refuse to allow themselves any joy whatsoever. It's like metaphorical flogging of themselves or penance for the last 30 years of failures. Many have become eternal doubting Thomases. Many refuse to credit the Jones boys when they do anything halfway decent. Even an obvious great move like this one. It's tragic in a sense. We gotta find our fandom again. Get our good juju back. We do this by acknowledging successes, and having a belief in the team , even when many lost faith. We need to speak it into existence. Have faith my brethren. We are in the process of a rebirth of sorts. It's about to get real interesting! Love this trade! Great off-season. A for effort.

Got to score points in today’s game as the rules are heavily favored for the offense. Defense today is about forcing teams to kick fg’s not scoring td’s. You need a defense that can get to the qb and create turnovers, hold up against the run..
That's my point.

We don't hold up against the run. Pass rush is spotty. Defense has trouble getting off the field as we have been bad on 3rd down conversion. There will be games offense won't score much and you have to win with defense and we haven't been able to do that

One thing about the comp pick is it's dependent on the next contract he signs and if he does in Dallas what he did in Pittsburgh I don't think teams will be lining up to give him a big contract.

There's a very real scenario where you gave up your 3rd round pick for one season of a malcontent.
I haven’t heard anyone mention this possibility? If he plays up to his potential/ expectations and has no drama, can’t Dallas franchise and trade him for a #1 instead of a 3/4 comp?

I wanted to fix their run defense and get more explosive on offense. They accomplish the offensive side, but there run defense remains the team's biggest weakness.

I think their plan is to have a ball controlled offense that keeps their defense fresh on the sidelines. This worked for Washington last year and they were even worse against the run then we were. Here in Philly, they struggled against the run, but were always playing ahead on the scoreboard that allowed them to just rush the passer. Buffalo has used this formula as well.

Our offense/defense were horrible in the red zone last season, if they can just move to league average they become a playoff team. Defense can give up the yards, but have to tighten up in the red zone to be successful.

We have been begging this front office start taking some chances and they do exactly that and people are still upset. Makes no sense.

Yes, if he's that good. But that's not why we traded for him, right? We're not going to contend for a SB this year, so a one year rental makes no sense. What was their plan when they traded for him? Because the Cowboys aren't paying two WRs 33-35M a year.

Yup. We have our Lamb/Dez duo.
BTW this may sound crazy (it definitely does) but I hope Dez, who players love, will talk to GP and tell him the mistakes he made in his career. They are the same guy.

Have to take chances in hopes of improving your roster, talent level. His upside is immense and the downside is just a late day 2 pick
Yes and it's kind of crazy right espn the ones that we truly hate hearing from like Dan OrLovsky said that this move alone elevates our offense to a point where we become hard to stop IE will alone imporve the run game not being able to load the box, ,

and He stated The Cowboys just elevated from my fringe team that may have not made the playoffs to a playoff contender one move it is important and I don't care about next year this man being under a contract year and a lot to prove he's going to want to prove his haters wrong we're going to benefit from that even if we can't keep him it's a great move..

I keep hearing this defense fresh stuff. its all about 2 minutes of time difference. better offenses control the clock about 32 minutes. we have averaged close to 30 or above. its not like an 8 minute difference.

secondly, everyone puts the onus on offense...how about defense getting better and getting off the field? we have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league on 3rd down conversions allowing the other team to continue drives.... that's on the defense, not offense. and tiredness of the defense comes into play in the 4th quarter. we have been sucking in the first 3.

I don't care about playoffs. I know you have to get in to have a chance, but 30 years and similar moves and we have been one of the absolute worst teams in post season. making the same move, get into playoffs by luck. and fizzle out. to what end? this was a one year move (obviously) and not a long term build a team move. this puts arses back in the seats and keeps cowboys on TV and people talking about them.

I wanted a defensive HC that ran a 3-4 scheme. My research discovered teams who played in the 3-4 scheme who had big personnel were the teams that were the best stopping the run. Unfortunately, they basically have reverted back to the Quinn/Marinelli scheme. When the scheme works it is excellent stopping the pass, but it is very suspect stopping the run.

Would of taken either Grant or Harmon over the Guard at 12. Wanted Ty Williams or UCLA LB at 44, but both were long gone, even Collins from Texas was off the board. However, we have to understand that this defensive scheme doesn't value a true NT and wants to create quick up the field pressure. Reason why we saw them showing more interest in 3T's.

Eberflus version of Marinelli's scheme has been better stopping the run, he always has valued the Linebacker/3T positions which are the key to his scheme. His nickel corner is a big part to his run defense as well. I think have to see how Eberflus scheme does first before overhauling the run defense. Zimmer made some adjustments that helps schematically, let's see if Eberflus can do the same. One of these year's we will hit with one of these late NT's.

Worry about next year when it comes, let's see if the trade can improve our offense now and for the upcoming season!

I agree. Also, Calvin Hill has always worked with these type of players.

Picken pickup is great just because of one and only one thing. Vouch mentioned it in his youtube video: Dak can throw it everywhere pickens will catch it.

And if there is one thing and only one thing dak is good at is throwing the ball everywhere but not where the receiver is.

It's not going to end well with Pickens. He is a head case, but Jerry succeeded in hyping the fan base.
