Pittdawg - any news for us?

Unfortunately... we had a number of fans on this board worship the Fabini signing like we just picked up Orlando Pace.

Since we're playing the game of hyperbole, we only wanted to see Fabini signed to a modest contract because we hadn't yet drunk the Rob Pettiti Is The Second Coming of Tony Bosselli Kool-Aid that was freely passed around in June because he improved on his benchpress.

Frankly, I haven't seen any indication we were wrong.

This discussion has gone so far as someone saying they would be "pissed" if we traded Pettiti for a 3rd rounder. Pissed??? Are you kidding me??? I like the kid, but let's keep everything in perspective.

As long as it's not a second rounder ;)

This thread is hilarious.

Some people who may not be completely sold on Pettiti are being thrown under the bus as being classless, yet the Fabini bashing is non-stop. I wonder if the general opinion would be reversed if this was Fabini's dad? Fact is, both are Cowboys. If you are going to play the whole "Don't you dare say anything that could be construed as bad re: a Cowboys player", then at least be consistent. Hypocrites.

Good luck to Rob and Daddio. I wish nothing but the best.
Great post. Pitt dawg throws a thinly veiled insult at Fabini, but anyone questioning RP is "classless".

I hope RP has a little bit of long-term potential, but to date, only one of the two has shown he can play in the NFL.

let's not forget that rob has as many reps as columbo, fabini or mcq. he has played one half in each of the exibition games. now he might not have gotten the same reps in practice before flo was sidelined, but he has told me he is much fresher than last year after camp ended.

But the half he played is interesting as well. I do give you credit for coming on here. I probably couldn't do it if it was my kid. I hope you don't take criticism too seriously around here.

I was curious about some of the comments you made earlier though. One of the reasons I was big on bringing in a guy like Fabini was that I thought he'd teach the young guys a thing or two about being an offensive tackle. Parcells practically falls all over himself talking about how well coached Fabini was.

However, your comments earlier almost allude to some animosity between Fabini and Petitti. Do they get along? Or are they competing and are on unfriendly terms as a result? Has Fabini been offering any advice to the younger linemen or just scratching to hang on to his own job?

Outside of Rivera, is there anyone Rob looks up to on the team?

Thanks!

I think I'll just go jump off of our tallest building... It's only about 6 stories so it may not hurt much.

Actually I think we should just collect it from all the folks on this forum that wanted to sign the guy. :)

I still say its a good move. He might still make the roster. Heck, he might end up starting although I'd say Colombo has the inside track.

When your tackles are a guy who hasn't been physically able to play the game in several years and a second year guy who struggled mightily last year, I'll drop the $1.75 million SB every time. Peanuts.

The arguments against it were just silly.

Absolutely!

I'll have a whole information-laden thread once the game gets a little closer. But mark it on your calendar! Tailgate starts 4 hours prior to kickoff... grill, beer, and DirecTV and plenty of fellow Cowboys fans... can't beat it!

And last year, we were even joined by Pittdawg and family for a bit.

i've been a little quiet, but that goes along with the uncertainty of rob's situation.

What does Rob say about going up against Spears, Ware, Canty, and Ellis in practice/camp and how they compare against some of the better passrushers he faced last year like Strahan, ect?

That is an excellent question.
