Fabini sucks. I'd much rather keep Petitti because he's young and has potential. What's Fabini bring to the table after this year. Nothing.

Does anyone think that Petitti might make a transition to guard? He would have the athletism to get out in swings much like Kosier. I hope Rivera is 100%, but I think Petitti would make an excellent guard in the future. Maybe that is why Parcells is thinking about keeping five tackles?

I'm in NYC and know all about Fabini. I brought it all up last year, and was shot down because just the fact that he "may" be a Cowboy makes him above ridicule.

The guy is a false start machine. Jet fans are laughing at us for taking him off their hands.

Rob Pettiti is a professional. He knows jobs are won and lost on a dime. He knows he has to work his arse off just to be on the team, and he'll have to work harder to win back the starting RT position.

The NFL is Darwinism at it's greatest. Rob knows this and will do all he can.

Best of luck to whomever wins the RT spot. It'll only make us better.
It's about time you started posting again.

How is Rob's weight these days? has he muscled up as much as I've read? Are his feet quicker? that's the key is his footwork....

rob will play at 325-327 lbs again this year, however he is alot more musclar and powerful than last year. he has improved his footwork, but i think the area of concern is his hand technique, the position of his hands while pass blocking. seems like a small thiink, but i guess it's very important.[/quote]

Is Rob getting the necessary help from the coaching staff concerning his hand technique or is he having to work on this on his own?

Also, Demarcus Ware has mentioned that he watches tape on some of the best pass rushers in the league. Does Rob watch tape on anyone in particular?

Thanks, in advance, for your response.

True!...that's why five straight to the Yankees feels vaguely satisfying, and watching Jason's penalties mount up last year were so much fun. :D

On a side note...What do Red Sox fans and Daylight savings time have in common....

i've been a little quiet, but that goes along with the uncertainty of rob's situation.

Unfortunately... we had a number of fans on this board worship the Fabini signing like we just picked up Orlando Pace.

But anyone that has watched this guy over the years could tell you he was barely average before he started aging and having injury problems. What we've seen this preseason is classic Fabini. He just doesn't have much in the tank. We pretty much flushed 1.7mil down the toilet on that signing.

Not to make you feel any worse, but I think it was $1.75 M :)

This thread is hilarious.

Some people who may not be completely sold on Pettiti are being thrown under the bus as being classless, yet the Fabini bashing is non-stop. I wonder if the general opinion would be reversed if this was Fabini's dad? Fact is, both are Cowboys. If you are going to play the whole "Don't you dare say anything that could be construed as bad re: a Cowboys player", then at least be consistent. Hypocrites.

This discussion has gone so far as someone saying they would be "pissed" if we traded Pettiti for a 3rd rounder. Pissed??? Are you kidding me??? I like the kid, but let's keep everything in perspective.

Good luck to Rob and Daddio. I wish nothing but the best.

Well, then let's qualify it as doesn't need to play RP as much as he needs to play Colombo and McQ.

It sounds to me like Bill and Sparano are working with Rob on elements of his game they have already identified, and can do that in practice. If, as the dad says, it's about the hands...I am sure the combined efforts of the coaches and dline can come up with instruction and repetitions in practice.

It might not be the ideal scenario, but I have no trouble believing, considering the limited number of preseason snaps, that Bill is making a sound decision as to whom is more in need of the live action.

We don't need to get our "swing tackle" big time reps at LT?

Given what went on at RT last year?

That doesn't fly for me.

How many reps does he have vs 1st string opposing D's?

Now keeping RP if he could play some OG too would be a thought.

However, Houck's not here and BP's guards don't look like that.

Keeping 5 tackles isn't the worst idea given our issues the last gazillion years there.

Thanks!

I think I'll just go jump off of our tallest building... It's only about 6 stories so it may not hurt much.

Actually I think we should just collect it from all the folks on this forum that wanted to sign the guy. :)

Sorry, ... that's being one.

How so? It's only the truth. Hell, there were probably about 75 tackles last year that were better then Petitti. He was a rookie 6th round pick thrown to the wolves. He played EXACTLY as he'd be expected to play. It doesn't mean it's gonna define his career.

It's important in the NFL where every DE/OLB you face is extremely talented. I know he faced some good ones at Pitt, but not all those guys are in the NFL.

If I were Rob's dad I would have been in jail right now for choking the life out of some of the classless posters on this forum.

:hammer:

If Fabini's dad were posting here all these guys bashing Fabini would be kissing so much butt that chap stick would be sold out everywhere.

And there is something wrong with this?
