What in the entire Dallas / Fort Worth area is very impressive besides the Fort Worth Zoo?

The Fort Worth Zoo, The Ball Park in Arlington, American Airlines Arena, and the new Cowboys Stadium. There isn't much else. Bass Performance Hall maybe?

EDIT: I got it, the enormous highway system in the area!

I have a lot of fun in downtown Ft. Worth everytime I'm down there. There are tons of places to eat and many bars in the area. It's really pretty nice down there.

El Fenix for Mexican and Spring Creek for BBQ, the prices are very reasonable, their food is good and always consistant.

Steak, Kirbys Steak House on lower Greenville is a good one. Expensive white table cloth, very nice.

UPDATE ON COLTERS! i was thinking the wrong bbq. spring creek is what i meant but was in a rushed moment of stupidity. the hot rolls at spring creek... WHOAH!!!

thanks silverstar - i wondered about the colters objections and now i must agree, spring creek buries most of the ones mentioned so far.

Here’s what I’d recommend:

Dallas has great Tex Mex food and there are tons of great places to go eat & drink margaritas, here’s my list:

http://www.primosdallas.com/ this is a happening place in a good area near victory park (http://www.victorypark.com/ ), so you could eat here and then head down the road to see Victory Park and the American Airlines Center (http://www.americanairlinescenter.com/ )

If you want to try some Mexican food with some good Cowboy history go to Mia's http://www.miastexmex.com/ Legend has it this is where Jerry and Jimmy met when Jerry hired him as head coach:

Another outstanding restaurant that isn’t quite Tex Mex is Veracruz (http://www.cafeveracruzdallas.com/ ) . It’s FANTASTIC!! I recommend trying the Pescado Almendrada. Be sure to have a frozen margarita, but be careful, they taste so good; they’ll sneak up on you and knock you on your ***.

After eating at Veracruz drive down the road to the Belmont hotel (http://www.belmontdallas.com/ ) and have a drink at their bar that overlooks the skyline of downtown Dallas. I’d highly recommend you stay in the hotel as well. It’s in a great location near downtown Dallas and the freeway that takes you to Texas stadium and it’s a really cool old hotel that was recently restored

Lower Greenville (http://w3t.org/u/84vo) is a great place for lots of night life and once again there are a couple of good Mexican food restaurants to eat and drink at. Gloria’s (https://gloriasrestaurants.com/home.php ) at 3715 Greenville Ave. and the Blue Goose Cantina (http://www.bluegoosecantina.com ) at 2905 Greenville Ave are my favorite. You can drive up and down Greenville Avenue to find other cool bars and nightlife.

The Taco Diner (http://www.mcrowd.com/tacodiner.shtm ) at the West Village is also a great place to eat and there is plenty of cool stuff to do in the West Village (http://www.westvil.com/ )

Mi Cocina (http://www.mcrowd.com/micocina.shtm ) in Highland Park Village also has great food and drinks and Highland Park Village (http://www.hpvillage.com/ ) is a great place to hang out

In case you can't tell, I like Tex-Mex and margaritas. This should give you plenty of options and keep you busy, but feel free to ask me any other questions you have.

If you want to splurge, as someone else said, Javiers is outstanding for upscale Mexican food. My two favorite steak houses are Capital Grille and Bobs Steak & Chophouse ( http://www.bobs-steakandchop.com/ ) at 4300 Lemmon Avenue
(at Wycliff) Dallas, Texas 75219.
The “COTE de BOEUF” (22oz.bone-in ribeye steak) is awesome, Get it with SKILLET POTATOs & Green Peppercorn sauce. Expensive (about $40.00), but worth it.

By the way here’s my story:

I’m 43 and have lived in Dallas my whole life. I was even lucky enough to grow up about a half mile from where the cowboys originally held practice and we lived next door to several players. We used to go knock on their doors and get autographed photos. We'd also hang out at the practice field and meet players after practice as well as peeking over the fence and watch practices. My Dad is a Cowboy fanatic and because of his influence and growing up so close to the Cowboys I’m one too. I live and die with this dang team and get depressed when they lose. I always say, I’ll get married the day I find a woman I love as much as the Dallas Cowboys, no luck yet…

I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm in for a game!

This is a chain restraunt, but Pappadeaux's sells a meal called Pasta Mardi Gras. As they don't have Pappadeaux's here in NYC, I stop by and have it everytime I'm in the DFW area. (I will be in Dallas this weekend and will be dropping by Pappadeaux)

I gotta second that. I love Pappadeaux's, and I've never had a bad experience there. If you like seafood, and cajun food, this is the place to go. And the Pasta Mardi Gras absolutely ROCKS.

The Sundance Square area is pretty nice, A lot better now then I remember it in the late 70's, earlier 80's.
