Before you jump all over me - IT'S THE DEAD PART OF THE OFFSEASON! All questions are on the table as we wait it out.

So, I ask: would you make a play for Plaxico Burress? He's no longer a #1 or #2, but as a third man in a 3WR set (in the slot, or outside with Austin in the slot) he could be useful.

Come on...you know Jerry would (he's probably itching over it right now :D ).

So...would you?

Discuss ;)

I think between the 5-6 youngs we have, we will be okay at wr3-5.

I don't think Plax fits the Right Kinda Guys prototype that JG looks for.

There's a marked difference between being just okay and being a Super Bowl contender.

With all the bodies we have competing for the #3 WR spot none of them strike me as the kind that command double teams or pose mismatch problems.

And if we suffer injuries like last year, and these guys have to step into the #1 or #2 role, I'm not feeling good about that.

I'd be more comfortable with a veteran manning the #3 WR spot.

People seem to get caught up on adding a big name when in fact we may already have a better talent that hasn't been given his chance yet...I would say let's give the talented young guys their chance. I'm anxious to see what Coale, Beasly, and Andre have.

How about we sign TO? At least he plays all four quarters. /sarcasm

Plaxico only plays when he feels like playing. He might be in the game, but he sure as hell isn't giving an effort 100% of his snaps.

No and no. We might end up adding a vet but it won't be him.

Which vet do you think might come available?

I don't like Burress, but he brings his game and does so in big games.

That's what I want - anothee veteran among the WR ranks who can bring that, and maybe teach Austin and Bryant how to bring that.

He's not a RKG. Garrett won't have it.

Q: Would you?
A: Nope ... not even.

Q: Would Jerry?
A: By all that's Dallas Cowboys holy, I sure would hope not. Don't see it happening.

Well said. I have nightmares of Miles or Dez going down this year... Than what?

If Garrett is here another five years and has some hardware to show for his tenure, I think personnel moves like this won't be so absurd.

Look at the Cheatriots. Think of all the disgruntled players they've taken in over the years. It's worked for them because they've had a system in place, a system bigger than the disgruntled player. So the disgruntled player is never at an advantage to disrupt the system.

Here in Dallas, it hasn't been that way since Jimmy Johnson. So I say we stay away from the disgruntled types until we get a system put down.

You adding a tall long strider in Burgess. We have that in Holmes who is faster and cheaper.

I'd like to have an experienced receiver in the third spot, but if these young guys can step up I'd prefer that.

Sort of how Victor Cruz came on for the Giants.

A stupid question is a stupid question, no matter when it's asked...

Hell no... the guy's a pure, dyed in the wool sociopath...

Give yourself a triple uppercut for even suggesting something so profoundly idiotic...

And no, I don't know that Jerry's "itching over" signing Plax the Punk... in fact, I'm pretty sure he's serious about not drafting or signing knuckleheads any more...

Gimme an RKG who's good for 30-40 catches over the locker room cancer who might give you 50-60 catches...

Are you seriously suggesting that signing Plaxico the Punk would make us "Super Bowl contenders"?? How did that work out for the Jets last year??

I'd be more comfortable with a veteran manning the #3 WR spot.

Happily, the days of the Cowboys signing out of work sociopaths appears to be over... get used to it...

I swear, some people in here would sign Satan if he ran a 4.3 40...

Who, that's a huge load of horse manure, right there...

Last season, in five losses to playoff teams, Plax put up the following AMAZING stats:

Baltimore, 10/2-- 3 receptions, 33 yards, 0 TDs...

New England, 10/9-- 3 receptions, 42 yards, 0 TDs...

New England, 11/13-- 3 receptions, 39 yards, 1 TD...

Philadelphia, 12/18-- 1 reception, 9 yards, 1 TD...

New York Giants, 12/24-- 3 receptions, 34 yards, 0 TDs...

So, in five pretty big games, Plax racked up all of 13 catches, for 157 yards and 2 TDs... particularly damaging were those last two games, when the Jets were still fighting for a playoff spot-- 4 receptions, 43 yards, 1 TD... anyway, if you extrapolated his stats for those 5 games across a 16 game season, you'd be looking at 42 catches, for 500 yards and 6-7 TDs...

You call THAT "bringing his game in big games"?? Child, please...

And if you looked at his stats against teams that post a .500 record or worse, you'll find most of his best performances-- we're talking games against the Cowboys, Raiders, Chargers, Bills (twice), Broncos and Dolphins... in those 7 games, he caught 28 passes, for 406 yards and 6 TDs...

The only logical conclusion is that Plax put up numbers against bad teams, but was largely ineffective against good teams... and this is a receiver who will turn 35 in training camp, so it would be illogical to expect him to suddenly turn things around...

All Burress can teach Austin or Bryant is not to take a gun to a night club... I hope they already know that... but on pure talent, Plax the Punk can't carry either players' jock straps... mayvbe when he was young, but not now...

Dude, chill. I think you're taking this thread a little too seriously. Don't lose sight of the point that we're inexperienced at WR starting with the #3 spot. We're one WR injury away from seeing how thin and inexperienced we are. You're wrong if you don't think the front office has not discussed EVERY free agent and potentially soon to be free agent as veteran depth at WR.
