Play the Saints with a vanilla playbook

who cares about that? Belicheat won 3 superbowls with a 7th round qb. Bobby Carpenter was a 1st rounder.

He does not look like he will win one this year. By the way Garrett nor Wade had anything do with Carpenter being drafted and 2 he does not play offense.

Saints fan here. I think the Saints/Cowboys game will be a great game, but both teams do have some work in the next 2 weeks.

Anyway...

You're not too accurate in your assessment of the Saints this year. They do some 5 step drops and empty backfields, but they also run way more 3 step drops, screens, draws and shotgun formations, and they even max protect a good bit. Honestly, they aren't as much of a "spread" team as say, the Patriots.

They are also 5th in the league in rushing, and both Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell are pretty physical.

If there is a way to beat the Saints offense it is mixing up pressure...Brees does not like pressure up the middle, he likes to step up in the pocket. Jam recievers, try and get Brees to step back or to the side, and limit the running game. I don't think it really can be done, but that's what I would do I guess.

...i think what the Saints exposed in NE was the Welker RAC phenomenon...iow, throwing short and expecting bigger gains...he only averaged ~5 yds per catch on his 6 grabs [32 yds]...with Moss double-covered it seemed that NE had little else to offer on offense...without his one 47 yard grab, he averaged 10 yds per catch on his other two catches...fantastic job considering the cornerback situation...incomprehensible actually...if someone had told me before-hand that McAllister and McKenzie would do that type of job as minutemen off the street i'd have called them crazy...

...the Saints might SEEM finesse but they've run the ball 5 times more than they've passed this year...348 - 343 iirc...a Parcells disciple, Payton learned his lesson well about a balanced offense and running the ball...

...the Cowboys might be talking about the Saints but WWL-870 out of New Orleans has'nt whispered the word Cowboys even once, not while i was listening anyways...all the talk is about Indianapolis and Minnesota...Dallas is'nt even in the conversation...

...one of the best ways to stop the Saints offense is to have an effective offense of your own...one that can run and sustain long, clock-eating drives...the fewer possessions the better...

oh ok. I didn't know draft status only matters for the offensive side of the ball. :laugh2:

It does when we were talking about the offense and Garrett. He is so predictable yet 8 teams despite the so called prdictablity lost to us. Only thing predictable is people thinking they know how to run the offense. Garrett currently has the 4th ranked offense in the NFL I think he has a clue as to what he is doing despite the experts at this sight. Does this mean he is beyond mistakes or beyond being question on certain calls? of course not

only 1 of those 8 teams has a winning record. heck most of those teams are bottom feeders. we'll see what he's made of over these next 5 games.

Yeah Dallas is the only one who has played bottom feeders. Some of those teams had winning records at the time we played them.
