Player acquisition is a 365 day practice, Jerry needs to find a NT/DT to stop the run & no 1 WR

The best addition to this defense would be an offense to actually keeps the ball for a while
good Lord

In the playoffs there will be defenses that force three and out on this offense. The Cowboys needs to do the same on defense and prevent them from creating long drives by pounding them with the run game similar to the 49ers game and the Rams game.

That's nice but 1st you have to get to the playoffs

We have a DLine that loses on the playoffs. If you want to call that solid, OK, but that's not good enough for me.
Unless you added an elite player, which would be expensive in picks, then you aren’t upgrading what we have. Even a guy like Suh was out played last year by guys we had rotating and not actually starting

We have cap space and cheap draft picks already in house, there is no need to hoard draft picks when team can be positioned to win the SB for several years. Like 2018 Cooper trade a trade for DT will propel this team to elite status.

I wouldn’t mind trading for Denzel Mims. We tried to in the offseason and he’s literally not playing

What DT out there makes this a super bowl team?
And at what cost
Picks and cap space isn’t a one year commodity
It’s carried forward to cover the costs of the guys we have on rookie deals who are cheap now but Diggs and Parsons are gonna get very big contracts
Money and picks aside I don’t see that guy who makes this team a SB team from the DT spot.

Do you know how much the salary cap is going up by when the new TV contracts with the Amazon deal comes in?

I don’t
But that goes up for every team which also drives up the cost of players
Who is a DT that makes us a SB team is the question

Not true at all.

Eagles game, all but one of the big gainers were inside runs

With Philly you have to factor in RPO stuff. A Dline will play a team like that much differently than usual. I’d like a comparison over all the games to get more insight.

What about Daron Payne?

Tristen Hill and a pick for Payne?

All of our current DTs are in the low grades on PFF. Hill was never in favor in Dallas.

Payne would be way cheaper then Derrick Brown. And Payne is a monster up the middle

Thoughts

If this defense truly wants to be elite it must acquire a Veta Vea type of NT/ DT than cure achilles hill of this defense. On the offense the front office needs to sign OBJ or trade for Lockett from Seattle.

Jerry probably needed his glasses....he thought it said 36.5 days out of the year.

Starlite Lotulelei Jr. is not currently employed...

Mom always said ... or was it @RustyBourneHorse who stated NT was the most important position on a football team. NT more important than a QB.
Kids today ... they grow so fast and say the darndest things.

Derrick Brown would be a very good add. He wouldn't come cheap, but he is the DT this defense is missing. He is that Vita Vea type of dude.

WRs.... I don't know man. DJ Moore is the one guy who interests me, but the WR market went psycho this offseason, and the cost for a gifted 25yo with three 1100 yard seasons is going to be eye bleeding. Moore has a very similar resume to Amari Cooper when the Raiders dealt him to us. That took a 1st round pick + a $20M/year extension in a much cheaper environment.

The Panthers are going to deal Moore, cause why do they need him for a tank-out, and my guess is that he commands a 2nd rounder for a 9 week rental + a $30M/yr contract after the season.

......Because Jerry and the Cowboys have had such great luck trading for talented WR's. Who could forget the forgettable contributions of Joey Galloway and Roy Willams. They were practically free, only a combined 3 #1 and a #2 pick in the draft.

In the end, was Amari Cooper worth the #1 pick and subsequent salary?

You simply can’t trade for a WR in this market but NT is very obtainable IMO likely only costing a 4th-6th rounder.
