i have a feeling that they got burnt last year when they telegraphed their interest in the 2 CBs,Defense still need major upgrades across the board.
We ended up with the best player in the whole draft. Plus Diggs turned out to be a great CB1. I don’t consider that burnt. Maybe they not as dumb as we all think they are and threw up CB smoke screens. I know wishful thinking.
On first reading that i'd say we didnt use a 'smoke-screen', as CB was the primary need in 2021.....but we trusted 'our board' and took the star, but had to double down at CB hence taking Joseph at 44 and Wright 99. Luckily Brown and Diggs stepped up which negated the need for Wright or Joseph to plug and play.
There are similarities this year. For Surtain and Horn replace Green and Johnson. Now there's a chance one of those doesnt fall to us (or a cant pass talent falls to us which we have to take), but unlike last year we dont have an alternative, there just isnt a viable LG on the roster.....and we saw how a deficient LG helped kill the whole line down the stretch.
Then again I havent heard that we're OTT high on either Green or Johnson and you may be right it could be a 'smoke-screen' fuelled by fans and media who put together the need with the value at 24??
Looking at Bruglar's Top 100 we may prefer Kinnard (42) or Salyer (49) both physique/maulers over technique which probably project them as Guards over Tackle in the NFL.
What I would guess, if we dont get Green or Johnson we definitely use at least one of our 5's to move up and ensure we get one of the alternatives in the 40's, or if we havent got a preference (and no high 1 Grade is available), i'm happy in this deep 2nd round to trade down.
For the first time in a long time I’m with the best player available regardless of position crowd. We have needs but not obvious needs. Pick 24 is way different than picks 1-10. Talent infusion is needed. But I think it’s going to come down to DE or OL…
I'm very interested in Green at 24.
On the face of it so would I, however, if there are 4 Guards projected in the top 50 , why take the player who plays a non prime-position, from a player that didnt do himself any favors in the combine (in my eyes that not a great concern) and where the likelihood is that the position could be filled later on in the 2nd round.
Totally get that line of thinking. But if he's higher rated than the others on the board, it's an easy decision. Can't worry about the other rounds, can only deal with the one you're in. I feel like thinking you'll get a similar player in a different round due to depth is a tact too reliant on hope, guesswork. Would rather not get cute and just take the guy that's there.
Kolar and the other TE AllenCould they be looking at Breece Hall from Iowa ST or would they be there for Kolar?
Not sure if it’s the most reliable source, but saw this…
“HuskerOnline also learned that the Dallas Cowboys are expected to bring in Jurgens for a private visit in the coming days.”

Would be very excited about this. Jurgens could possibly push for the starting C day 1. His movement ability at the C position might rival Jason Kelce.
Don’t ask me what this drill is but kinda fun to watch a 300 pound man do it
