In most sports most big FA deals are failures. Big FA deals are deals to older players that are given out for what they've done in the past more then what they're likely to do in the future.

Nope, that's not it. They're failures because the players are awful people who stop trying after they sign the contract. Why blame age-related skills decline and increased injury risk when you can smear a person's character instead?

I thought he was a 2 time Pro Bowler?

Austin made the Pro Bowl after his breakout season in 09. Prior to that season he only had 18 catches for 354 yards and 3 TD's.
