Playing an NFL game with only 3 days rest is a disgrace

and I've been saying it for years. Yeah, some of us were disappointed with the Oline today or Dak in the first half but these guys aren't cyborgs fer crissakes even though they look like one. So how did Buffalo and the LIons look today? Pretty sloppy overall and the Bills jerked around and almost lost so....there ya go. But seriously, making these guys play with 3 days rest is borderline inhumane.

I've always thought it was a horrible thing to ask of the human body. Especially older guys.. I will never forget Howie Long talking about when he knew it was time to retire.. He said his first 2-3 years in the league he was sore the day after a game but was good to go by day two. From years 4-7 or 8 he was sore Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but by Thursday he was good to go. Then it went to where it took until Friday or Saturday to start feeling right.. He said when he realized that he was still feeling the previous game right up to kickoff of the next one.. he knew it was time to hang 'em up.

We should have got our guys more rest last week
I love thanksgiving games but physically for the players it’s tough
But then again you get extra rest after the game and it’s the same for both teams

Actually, it's now a tradition. Also, I think the Cowboys really appreciate the late season "mini-bye".

Successful Cowboys teams always use that ten day period after Thanksgiving to fine tune their December run.

Bbbut, Goodell is really concerned about Player safety. I wish Jerry was smart enough to make a pitch to rotate out of the Thanksgiving game.

Pretty much every team does it now so it’s all a wash
I think he's talking about the toll it takes on the players bodies and health. Not just the ones on Thanksgiving, but everyone who plays on Sunday, then Thursday.

Maybe the answer is to only play Thursdays after a bye week?

Agree. Their bodies cannot withstand that type of punishment. I’m surprised the players don’t try to eliminate when they negotiate. As others on this thread .. money. Which is unfortunate because it’s putting their product at risk and hurting by the quick games

The NFL just cares about $, not the players - you are right it is dead wrong to ask these guys to play games on thursday after playing sunday. Then everyone wonders why so many guys get hurt, lol

Get your point, but it's 4 days, not 3.

While I generally agree, the Patriots and Vikings look pretty sharp.

The short turn around is tough and probably does play a part in sloppier play as technique is harder to execute when you're tired.

However, the Giants came into the game very short handed today so were technically at a bigger disadvantage than the Cowboys.

That's a great idea. Rotates the games through the league and eliminates the short swing. Get rid of the Thursday night games outside Thanksgiving.
