Playoff Wins Last 15 years, Cowboys 1, Texans 1

considering that this was also their first winning season, they could easily end up being a one year wonder.

Probably not, but possible

I'd be surprised, looks like they have some folks that can spot talent

I wonder how the current Cowboys team would do if they had to start their 3rd QB in a playoff game?

Defense/elite RB.

They also got the Bengals in round 1.

Imagine, if you will, the Cowboys being forced to play without Tony Romo or Demarcus Ware for much of the season.

And let's not limit it to this season. Imagine it at any point during the past four or five years.

The Cowboys might not win a game.

Definitely. They have a much better defense than we do. But they sustained a ton of injuries and still played at a high level. When Romo went down last year the entire team gave up. It doesn't matter what talent you have there, if they don't play with passion and intelligence, you're done.

It just feels as if we have a dumb (offsides penalties, false starts, receivers not knowing where to line up, DBs who don't look for the ball) team that just doesn't come out fighting when you would expect teams to do so.

The Cowboys didn't give up last year. Didn't they go 5-3 down the stretch?

I think two things go overlooked in the comparison:

1. Kubiak has been the Texans coach since 2006. And this is his first playoff game. And let's be honest, Houston is in the playoffs because Peyton Manning didn't play this year. Does anyone think the Colts wouldn't have taken that division had Peyton remained healthy?

2. Wade Phillips never should have been a head coach. But few doubt his abilities as a defensive coordinator. Blame Jerry for that hire.

Imagine 6 of the games on that schedule coming against this year's iteration of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans...

Texans deserve credit but let's not act like they won the South against Peyton Manning in his prime, Chris Johnson in his prime, and a scrappy but decent Jacksonville squad.

Every team except the Texans was devoid of talent in that division and they still barely made it.

Yeah, we would be terrible. But I think that's partly because we rely so much on our passing game/Romo whereas it seems Houston relies more on Foster. Our running game would be absolutely embarrassing without our passing game. Additionally, we would get about 0 pressure without Ware.

We have some really great players (Romo, Ware, Witten) along with trash that is just unbelievably bad.

Well, the same could be said of the NFC East this year, and we didn't win it with our star players playing.

Give the Texans some credit. They could have folded like a cheap suit, but they didn't.

They definitely gave up for those 3 (?) games last year before Wade's firing. I'm starting to think that they only started playing again because they lost their scapegoat.

And hey, Wade got us our only playoff game since 1996. What's sad is he might be one of the better head coaches we've had in a while. Jerry sucks.:

In fairness to your point, I should mention the Cowboys won five games last year without Tony Romo.

And let us not pretend that we didn't see the Giants struggle, the Eagles implode and the Commanders do their usual act and we still could not seal the deal.

They played the hand they were dealt. And I doubt we beat the Jaguars, Colts or Titans without Ware, Romo or Witten. Get over it.

They got it done. We blew a golden opportunity in a supposed rebuilding year.

If they took the woe is me attitude this franchise does when things get tough at the end of seasons, they would have.

The NFC East was terrible this year.

We lost the division to a team that went 3-5 in its last 8 games (and 2 of those wins were against us), and we got passed by a team that was 4-8.

And we got an Eagles team with a declining air-guitar strumming Donovan McNabb two years ago.

What is your point?

So we've established the Texans are a better and deeper team than the Cowboys. No need to belabor the point.

Absolutely correct.

You do not see our own division have a down year like this very often.

As bad as they were and as hard as they tried to hand over the title over, we could not take it.

That is the most unforgiveable part of this season.

It was there. Several times. And each time, we failed.

I don't know if it is so much woe is me, but rather an excuse to underperform once a star player gets hurt. It is like the house of cards collapses when one star player in Dallas gets hurt. Other players view it as a chance to lay down and underperform. That is inherently what is wrong with the DNA of this group of players.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Texans now have the same amount of wins in the playoffs as the Cowboys for the last 15 years.

Nice job Jerry! Things are going great. Couldn't have done it without you. :thumbdo:
Over 5 years since your first post? Welcome back!

Texans, let me know when you get to the second one. For your sake, hopefully it won't take another 15 years.

i wonder if you would have been making these comments about us if we won the east this year.

Rookie T.J. Yates has as many playoff wins as veteran Tony Romo.

Trent Dilfer and Tony Banks have more superbowl rings than Dan Marino and Dan Fauts..

what's your point ?

Peyton Manning just called and said he was sorry.
