Playoffs defenses

The NFC is a catastrophe, may the AFC put the symbolic lamb upon the altar and burn it as an offering.

Watching the Chargers, even when they don't get pressure on the QB, you can at least see their DEs and OLBs being RELENTLESS getting after the passer. You can literally see the effort.

When our guys get blocked they just stand there and choose to hope for the QB to come right to them instead of fighting through the block and getting after the QB.
According to Canty, that's what they're told to do.

Yet BP, in several of his PCs, talked about how he wanted more pressure from Canty and Spears.

While I agree regarding pressure, there's a couple other things I saw on every one of these playoff defenses.

1) They swarm like madmen-they're all very active and quick defenses. Sure Alexander would break a couple runs against CHI, but even then there were 3 guys taking him down. More often than not, he was getting hit by 5 guys at the line of scrimmage and the tackles were always dogpiles. I'm not sure how else to describe it, but somehow Chicago's defense was always in the right spot at the right time on almost every play....and they were throwing hits.

2) They had a swagger. Every time they made a play, they were congratulating each other and making a scene. They wanted everyone to know who was the boss.

I just didn't see much of that all year from Dallas.

Did it really take watching playoff games this weekend to realize we need to get pressure on the opposing QB? That, and for the 4th year in a row, we need to seriously upgrade our OL.

The last thing we need is a puppet BP home boy DC. My anger level just skyrockets when I think about how our coaches misuse the talent we have. There is no way most of them belong in the NFL.
