Please do not try and defend Romo today

Now that he is gone we can go back to a civil discussion, thanks mods

We fell behind early, .. but we had regained the lead and the momentum.

Then we stopped them on offense, and had a chance to extend the lead before halftime and we would have gotten the ball to start the second half.

That's when Newman dropped the punt and gave the momentum back to the Lions.

Instead of going in at the half with a lead of 1, 4, or 8 we go in down 6.

That was a killer.

If we don't give them that score, we are kicking a FG at the end.

But losing the momentum was the worst thing.

Even with all of the problems Romo had, he drove us 99 yds for a TD late in the 4th qtr in what should have been the game-winning drive.

If the defense holds at that point we may have been able to run out the clock with Barber.

Don't worry, the OL decided not to defend Romo either today.
Maybe the OL sucks, they can't defend anyone.

I know when Romo came in he was a spark, right now if our D does't get fixed it doesn't matter who is at QB, (excecpt maybe Troy and Roger) they won't be able to lead us to the promised land.

He gets no help, at all. I can defend him when the runningbacks arent doing a damned thing, the defense is getting murdered by John Friggin Kitna. Expecting your first year starter be your sole provider of offense is suicide.

So you can defend 4 fumbles and 1 INT and say that he had nothing to do with todays loss? He is blame free in your eyes?

Bad stuff happens when your QB is 11 yards behind your leading rusher. No offensive line help, no help from your defense, nothing. Today was Tony Romo vs the Detroit Lions, his teammates diddnt come to play.

So all 4 fumbles and the INt were all someone elses fault? can you explain how?

Ironically, he posted a thread last night apologizing for personal attacks.

Keep screaming "four fumbles." Keep doing it.

One arguably wasn't a fumble. Another was recovered and Tony made an incredible play. A third was recoverd by the offense (no harm, no foul). At best you can fault him for one fumble that cost the team points.

His one bad fumble cost the team 3 points.

Apparently, Tony is a victim of circumstance. Just like Roy is a "victim" of a bad pass rush, or so the story goes.

Drops? Bledsoe had 9 passes dropped by halftime vs Tennesee verified by Parcells and the announcers.

That was the Washington game.

I doubt you're talking about last year. Bledsoe had no Flozell or JuJones for half a year and no guy named Terrell Owens for the whole year. But for 3 field goals (2 chip shots) Bledsoe was a 12-4 quarterback. His Cowboys of '05
also had a 9-7 record and the strength of schedule was at least 10 notches tougher.

I'm talking about this year.

The defense was far better under Bledsoe this year.

The running game was far better under Bledsoe this year.

Even if you want to say that the pass protection was equally as bad under Bledsoe as it was Romo, Romo had far less to work with this year than Bledsoe did this season. And last year's defense played far better than this year's defense under Romo. Plus, Romo had 14 drops in the 2nd Giants, Saints, Falcons, and 2nd Eagles game.

Bledsoe's legacy here gets worse as the Romo hype rolls on. The spin is way out of whack and the blurred vision exists even after today. Amazing.

So Bledsoe was great this season?

I don't get your point. If Bledsoe played today instead of Romo, we probably lose by 30 points.

Romo was a yard short of a potential game tying TD. I dont know what you are on, but he kept us in it until the end with no running game, a bad offensive line and a defense thats spending the night in the burn unit.

Yards from the QB spot- 337

Yards from everyone else- 42.

Thats not going to win football games.

BDF I quite often agree with you on a variety of topics... AND I agree that Romo was sloppy... Way, way too sloppy.

And he deserves part of the blame but it was a total team collapse.

This team has looked like crap for the last month.

I do expect Romo to improve. I think he'll give us a heck of season next year.

I wish I could be as confident in the defense.

I'd just like to see your list of the plethora of QB's that would perform much better than Romo did today with lousy pass protection, 58 rushing yards on 21 carries, and a defense that made the Lions look like the Greatest Show on Turf.

The issue isn't Romo and he certainly didn't lose the game for us. Give me average defensive play, running game, and pass protection and Romo plays a whale of a game. Give me poor defensive play, running game, and pass protection and you'll be lucky to see many QB's that are able to keep you in the game like Romo did. But I guess you're supposed to just hold onto the ball and take a sack, even if it's in the end zone.

Good grief.
