I agree. I think this game has meaning for them b/c the Rams are the weaker seed and weather won't be a factor in LA.
Just read an article that says they are going all out because they want the sixth seed. They think that is the best path for them in the playoffs because they'd either go to Tampa or LA instead of Philly.

“We’re going to go after it as hard as we can,” Quinn said. “The seeding portion of this is really important. ... We recognize having the 6 seed and going into the playoffs with that is a good thing, and so we’re going to fight like hell to keep that.”

That’s not how I roll. I believe in stretching the rules, but not flat out cheating!

Of course players should always play to win, but of course fans are different. We sit in the stands, or in front of our TV’s, with very little impact on the game( loud fans in Seattle for example can impact the game). If our team is playing a late season game with no chance of making the playoffs it is completely reasonable, as a fan, to hope your team losses a competitive game to get earlier draft picks. With earlier draft picks statistically there are more good players left in the draft! Why is this logic to complicated for some fans( I can see it being to complicated for Philly fans, but Dallas fans?).
It's not complicated I completely understand your argument I already said that getting a better draft pick in a lot of cases a higher draft pick get you a better draft pick I get it that doesn't mean it's guaranteed but I'm just telling you prior the last six weeks there's no way you ask a team to lay down and lose when one you're still mathematically in it and two the very fabric of sports and sportsmanship is you play every game to win because you can't lay down look Washington most people say needs this game right for playoff positioning is it fair to their opponents that other people they're fighting for spots to come in and have a team basically forfeit a game so they can get an easier walk into the playoffs?

Most teams are organically going to lose when you're bad anyway we're losing games because we're not good mostly because of injuries but other reasons as well losing doesn't feel as bad when you know you're gonna get a better draft pick you can accept losing but you can't accept losing on purpose we're gonna organically lose this game anyway so asking everybody how they feel on whether they would wanna win or lose it's kind of odd we all know the circumstances we're probably gonna lose anyway.. But as far as keeping the integrity of sports intact you cannot go into a game and do what fans invented a word called tank you can't tank there's no such thing as tanking in the real world of sports...

So yeah if we lose this game not a big deal we get a better graphic but I just think that you don't realize that you're asking the fan base when in reality there isn't a single player on our team or a single coach on that coaching staff and really for the most part the ownership that wants us to lose on purpose tank but the great thing for you is we're bad enough to lose this game and Washington is gonna want it more than us and we're probably gonna lose anyway it's not complicated...

I completely understand it but why don't you tell the other fans the giants lost their number one overall spot last week because they played and they won their first game in 10 weeks but you know what the fan base may want a better draft pick but that team feels pretty good winning that game this happens in the NFL I don't care how bad you are you can win some games that you're supposed to lose and it feels good actually..

I've seen a lot of teams that have nothing to play for but draft picks win last week or the week before they still seem to be fighting that's the thing though they lose a lot and they're gonna get whatever draft pick they deserve...

I completely understand your point it's not complicated but most of us are not sitting here wishing for losses just so we can get better draft slots because we've seen good players fall all over the draft not only in the first round not only in the top of the first round they're great players all over the draft and after the draft undrafted free agents there's some h....ere there's some pro bowlers in there...

But sure I get your point and right now it is the last game of the year and a loss would benefit the Cowboys a little bit so I'm OK with it I'm just not OK with going into a game and you expecting the players to lay down and lose a game because that's not how it works so us sitting here debating on what we want doesn't that was another thread right we don't have any control whatsoever of how the game's gonna go so when I sit down and watch a game I at least wanted to be competitive and I hope my team wins but in this case if they lose I'm completely OK with it...

We completely see your side of the argument man it's not complicated we're giving you the flip side we're talking about integrity of the game the fabric of sports that everybody should come out and have a competitive game because you should never lay down and offer your opponent which by the way is a big time rival a free win an easy pass.

So nobody should go out and lose on purpose and I get your point and in this game and probably really the last two games how you can almost guarantee the odds are against your winning would be to start other players and we get it you should probably start Trey Lance the last two games and we probably would lose and at the same time we get to see him play for whatever reason they don't wanna do that that's the point we have no control the the team's not gonna do it but I can't sit back here and hope we lose to the Washington dead skins that is not something it's in my DNA but I completely understand your point there's some dudes up there in the top ten that I would like to have opportunity to the draft but sometimes they'll slip like a good pass rusher and an interior D lineman they might all go in the top ten maybe 12 so maybe they'll be there like we got Micah Parsons at 10 and moved down to 12 and still got him and OSA there's still hope regardless of if we win this game or not some guys like Abdul Carter or I know there's another pass rusher or some of the interior D lineman from some of the better schools yes you're right a higher draft pick gives us more opportunities that doesn't mean if we lose out on those particular players there's not someone of equal talent just at a different position and you just have to go for that and hope you find a gym later in the draft like we have right in the past have you tried to tell me guys like OSA in the third Prescott in the fourth round or bland in the fifth round these guys were there these guys were all good and back to the first round we've been pointing out we got lamb at 17 we got Trayvon diggs in the second round look we just have to hope that when it's our turn to pick there's still quality players that can help our team there and I'm betting there probably will be some good players that can help I mean we need everything so I don't see how you can go wrong in this draft so even if we lose out on some of the names we had on our boards or very high on some of the mock drafts there's gonna be somebody else there maybe of equal value so let's just pray they pick the right player we don't need any tacos or any Mazis in this draft we need to pick very very well this is a very important critical draft I get it....

We have to hope that we hit in the first 3 rounds on every single player we pick as a starter they need to be ready as a rookie no more projects no more hope they better not pick a single player that has an injury history I get where you're coming from and it's better if we draft higher but that's just not how it works we can't hope for that it needs to just happen..

I mean I hope they start Trey Lance just so I can see him play a full game and if that means it might create a opportunity for odds that we would lose the game then that's great for you and both I right

I think Quinn keeps his starters in the whole game if it is close.

Hopefully, Jerry understands it is more important to give Lance some playing time, along with a few other young players, and getting the better draft picks, than winning this game.
So you had it right until you said draft I think you will organically lose and I agree they should play the rest of those backups and that would almost guarantee a loss but you can't look at it as trying to get a better draft pick but evaluating your younger players you organically will probably lose and that we can agree on I think the last two games they should have started Trey Lance the entire game but they didn't and again we have no control over that and it's a little too little too late to be looking for that because there are too many teams that are far worse than us that are way ahead of us in the draft...

Pretty bold statement considering the Cowboys draft history in the 1st round.
See first of all I agree with you and these people need to stop using statements like worst he is not the worst GM in football or we wouldn't be picking in the middle of the draft or at the bottom of just about every draft the last decade we have not been bad enough to consider our GM in the history of the game or even the worst right now that is so stupid look I get it I don't like Jerry either but as an owner he's been great as AGM he's been subpar but the word mediocrity comes to mind and yes I would put Jerry as a GM right in the middle there's no way you can consider him the worst have you seen the players or I should say the teams that are above us in this draft let alone all the other drafts and where we're picking compared to them and literally we've been to the playoffs 5 out of the last eight years when a team like the Cleveland Browns who have changed GM's who have changed owners how they even change cities and you know how many first I don't pick Steve had multiple first rounders I remember one year they had three first round picks and they still have not won a division since 1989 can we be realistic here and stop calling Jerry the worst GM he is not the worst GM he's just not one of the top front offices that are always better than us and then you see it on the field typically..

I just don't talk to the guy you're talking to because I must have put him on ignore years ago but just in case he's reading this Jerry Jones let me be clear is not the worst GM in the NFL there are too many bad teams to say that that don't even go to the playoffs when you go to the playoffs and you keep your team relative enough that the league keeps you in prime time games that you talked about all the time you're not the worst GM in football or we would have all these stars that are overpaid and signed these superstars that are on our team ended up on our team because of our GM.

And I'll say this so I don't get blasted here 'cause here comes a flame war Jerry Jones is not a great GM but he's also not the worst GM in football he's just not whenever people use the word mediocrity that's where he falls he does just enough to keep our team winning but not enough to be considered one of the top five front offices that on a regular basis do the whole all in thing which is very little teams in the NFL do that but yes Jerry's not as aggressive he doesn't make smart trades he's not a top front office guy but he's definitely not the worst....

Players always play to win. I have always said that.

Go Whiners, Colts, and Skins = Cowboys pick #11.

I’ll settle for pick #11.
We are a pretty talented team for possibly getting pick #11. We would have a shot at the top RB!

Don’t forget: The better draft picks give us more draft capital too! Trading down from pick 11 gives us way more draft capital than trading down from pick 16 or 17.

For example: if we get the 11th pick and drop down to the 17th pick we could possibly get an extra 3rd/4th round draft pick. That is huge!
Start all our young guys, and Lance, and get the11th pick organically!!

If we loss to Washington, the Whiners win one of their last 2 games( home vs Detroit, away vs Arizona) and Indianapolis beats Jacksonville at home we will have the 11th pick in the draft!!!!!

If we win vs Washington we could pick as high as the 17th pick.

Please, please Washington play your starters this Sunday vs US. Washington has no chance of beating us with mostly backups. The 11th pick in every round is statistically much better than the 15th-17th pick in every round.
Why would The Commanders play starters in a meaningless game for them?
Good lad, they are not as needy as other teams and fanbases are.

I said 2 months ago we will win the last meaningless game of the season because that is what we do. Washington will treat the game like a preseason game and Dallas will go all out to win. And who will care?

I'd play Trey Lance the entire game assuring the Cowboys will have no chance of winning.
Washington is not winning this game. If they lose, they'll travel to Philly to play a team they just beat, otherwise, they would have to travel to LA to play the Rams.. Losing would also hurt the Cowboys..

Washington is not thinking about letting us win so we get a lower draft pick. That’s crazy logic.

Washington would much rather take a 90-minute train ride to Philly (who they just beat) than a cross-country trip to LA to play the Rams..Having the Cowboys get a higher draft pick is just an added benefit.

Would you rather play in the cold. Or nice comfortable weather?

11th pick puts in position for Jeanty. Anything later than that, he’s probably gone.
I can see them sitting their starters in the second half or just sit them for the full game. They technically have nothing to play for other then not being swept vs us again lol.
