Here’s the conventional wisdom you’re bound to hear in the coming days, as the Cowboys begin their preparations for Washington.

Inexplicably, the 3-8 Cowboys are technically still alive in the NFC East – largely thanks to the mediocrity of the division as a whole. The Commanders currently lead the division standings at just 5-6, having defeated the Giants – now also 5-6. The Eagles, now 4-7 after getting thrashed by Detroit, are in a freefall almost as bad as the Cowboys.

Taking all of this into account, the common logic says the Cowboys need to play their experienced starting quarterback, Matt Cassel, to hold the reins in place ofTony Romo. Cassel has 11 years of NFL experience, he led this Dallas offense for a month during Romo’s first injury and he has been a part of playoff races before.

Wonder if they are warming the fans up to the idea of Him getting starting time after we are officially mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

If it were Mickey doing the article I would say it is going to happen but we will see.

don't know anything about this Kellen Moore other than he's a young prospect. That's the exact thing we need and despite mathematically being in it, I say he starts the remainder of the season. See what potential he's got cause I'm pretty sure the potential of this team this season is unfortunately known.

This is obviously a bit much, but he really impressed me in college, and reminded me a lot of Drew Brees.

I don't understand why he hasn't gotten a shot at all. I'm not saying he will be a HOF QB, but I like his game, and feel he can compete at a high level. His size has always been the issue, which was Brees' issue as well. Granted Brees was a 2nd round pick and Moore was UDFA I believe.

I was kinda disappointed when I clicked over to the article, checked out the comments section and didn't see any from Floaty. :(

At this point I don't see what harm it poses to start Moore. He could end up throwing a perfect back shoulder throw that's dropped and kills a potential game winning drive just as easily as Cassel can.

I can't see him as a scheme fit at all.

He's got a noodle arm. Like a left handed Ken Dorsey.

Everything we do is so long, drawn out, and downfield.

No harm in giving him a shot. I believe Cassell will be here next season, and is a solid back up. We need a future starter though, and Cassell is not that. Let's see if Moore has it, or not. It will let us know if we go after a QB within the first two rounds of the draft.

And everyone wants to see Moore and what he has....why...?
I want to see what he has too, but not until the final game or 2.
Has people really thought he can be a future QB, then why is he still on the PS. I don't say that to say he is a bum. But why have other teams needing QBs too, not have tried to sign him.

But there is a reason Parcels kept Romo on the active roster. So is there a reason that why Moore was not.
Isn't that why they kept Vaughan last year. And look what happened this year.

Regardless, I still want to see Moore play. As we never know, but I think it will be later than sooner before we see him on the field.

Has he even been activated yet? Not trying to knock him at all, but can't have wholesale changes to quickly, especially at QB..

Honestly, I'm not one that's normally prone to throwing any backup out there just to see what would happen, but if you think the guy can play, I'd bring him up and give him a shot as soon s Cassel struggles this week. Just like we did with Romo and Bledsoe back in the day. If Cassel can beat the Commanders on his own, great. But if we're struggling to put up points, yank him and give us something to root for for the next 5 weeks.

Oh I've already got that. I'm rooting for the high draft pick.

Dustin Vaughan is probably available. Lets get another look at him since the proposed plan is apparently to tank.

There isn't a QB alive who fits in this scheme.

I wonder if Cassel gets hurt we see Moore and then Showers. It would be just like 1988 all over again.

Moore did his development under Linehan when in Detroit. Moore was a luxury more than a need over there. They must have thought something of him if they kept him there for several years and extended him.

I am not on the "let's tank for a draft pick" bandwagon. Actually the thought of that disgusts me as a fan. But I have watched Weedon lose 3 in a row and Watched Cassel lose 4 in a row. And the last game by Matt C didn't look any better than the first game he played in, so no progression even with the longer time in the system. I say play the kid. He might bring that X factor that we don't know about. If he can throw the ball 15 yards that would be deeper than Brandon did so his noodle arm will be just fine. I have no confidence in Matt to win a game at all.

Ehh, I still have some confidence in Cassel. Thought he put us in a place where we could win a couple games. I think he'll at least keep it closer and give us a chance to win.
