As soon as its contract with the city would be up it would be the Los Angeles franchise.

Wow, do I detect some repressed anger from some Mavs fans towards SA?

Truth be known, SA will never ever get a team unless one moves there. Jerry Jones and the Houston owner will fight tooth and nail to keep a team out of their back yard. Besides, LA would be a more lucrative venue for a new team, and as we know, it is all about the money.

True, "bulldogs, panthers and jaguars" are juvenille names, but they don't instantly inspire you to kill the mascot unlike copperheads, rattlers, etc. If a team ran out on a football field led by some guy in a snake outfit, my first thought would be to grab a big stick and beat him to death with it.

Hate snakes.

:)

ah - got your point now. so i guess i shouldn't tell you in jr high school i'd go into what was called "snake run" in central florida chest deep in water and go snake hunting, should i?

fyi - i have no desire to do such things these days but that and trapping wild racoons was kinda fun. even with homemade traps.

I think it's HIGHLY unlikely the NFL would even consider the nickname Bulldogs for the next decade at least.

When I was 7 or 8 and before the desire of hunting left me, I did some 'coon hunting. No trapping though.

Everything other than "Stallions" or "Copperheads" sounds pretty stupid, that list looks mostly like NBA and AFL type team names like "Magic", "Heat" "Voodoo", "Force" and "Jazz", really stupid names IMO. The NFL should do better than that!

Nice historical reference. Point taken. :)

EDIT: Of course, that snake was shown as being cut up into sections or colonies. :D

Nah, that was the "Join or Die" Snake. The Don't Tread on me Snake was whole. :)

all of those names suck

If San Antonio got a team....I would want one of these to be the name

Venom - (Metallic Red Scorpion on the helmet)
Toros - (Bulls in spanish) was the name of our first team way back when
Gunslingers - I loved the logo and the colors of our USFL team...although I doubt anything related to Guns will be acceptable nowadays
Outlaws
Banditos
Armadillos

In all seriousness.....being a citizen of San Antonio my whole life....this is how I would like to see it

NBA - San Antonio Spurs
NFL - San Antonio Toros
MLB - San Antonio Missions - get rid of our AA team, but keep their name and uniforms for the MLB version
NHL - San Antonio Penguins - love to steal them from Pittsburgh
WNBA - San Antonio Silver Stars
AFL - San Antonio Venom
Minor League Hockey - San Antonio Rampage

the only way SA gets a team is if an existing ones moves there, i doubt very seriously the NFL will give an expansion team to SA. only LA would recieve that, and that might not ever happen.

lastly im still pissed that Houston chose Texans, im born and raised in Texas thus a Texan, now all of the sudden we have a team called the Texans...get my drift? they shouldve just been the Oilers again.

Bud Adams still owns the rights to that name and there is no way he would let Houston have that name.

are u sure...could have sworn when he left Houston, he had to leave the name Oilers behind.....similar to how the Ravens have to leave the Browns in Cleveland.
