I’m impressed how well versed you are on playoff picture before season begins.

I have no idea how it’s going to shake out in January.

Thats my best hopeful scenario. Obviously the season has to be played out, but I think, if we win the division, that's the most likely way it shapes up.

Hopeful scenario? If we win division ?

I’m not sensing the certainity you initially had and why I responded stating we are headed to NFCCG.

And I totally agree the season has to be played out.

Well, I think we should win the division. I've been pretty consistent this offseason guessing 12-5 or 11-6 being my predicted record for the Cowboys this season. The question for me then would be what's Chicago's record.

Right. Whatever process many are All In on this offseason has to deliver successful results at some point. And successful results means beyond anything we’ve seen this era.
In Jimmy Johnson’s second season as coach the team went 7-9. Although it wasn’t a great record, it was easy to see they were much improved from the previous season. You saw the talent improving as well as the on-field play and coaching.

I don’t know why now, we have to see this year’s team have results beyond anything we’ve seen in this era.

Under the same directive in 1990, fans would have given up on Jimmy’s Cowboys that year (His second season as head coach).

If the 2026 Cowboys are improved, we will know it. If they fall short of an NFCCG this season, there is no reason to think these coaches can’t add even more players to the defense and have a better year in 2027.

Speaking for myself, I’m thrilled that they finally put a coaching staff together the way I’ve been wanting them to do it. The last time it was done this way was indeed in the Jimmy Johnson era.

I am finally happy with the direction of the franchise, and I haven’t felt that way since I was a kid in the 90’s.

Was it Jerry that did it? No. But as long as it was done I’m happy about it.

And, considering we were 7-9-1 with a crap defence, now that we actually have a defence being fielded worth a damn, I think 11-6 or 12-5 is more the reasonable to expect. I think the NFC South winner will be about 9-8 at best. So, even if we do 10-7, we should still 1. Win the division and 2. Have the 3 seed at worst.

1) You assume the offense won't fall off.

2) You haven't seen the starters play a single down of defense yet.

I know, but I do think the offense should be good. And I get that about the defence, but I have no reason to think, from what I have seen with videos and what the depth was doing vs other depth, that they'll be as useless as last year. I think our defence should be at least average. As long as that's the case, I think 11-6 or 12-5 is reasonable.

Plus, like I've said, I'm bullish on our front 7. I love the way our dline is being assembled, and I like how improved our LB room looks after YEARS of crap linebackers. So, I think our middle should be much better defended. That will be crucial. That alone I think should give us a 3 win advantage over last year, considering the close losses/draw last year due to defence.

Some fans don’t need to see starters play in regular season. They have the incredible gift sensing success before it happens . It’s really incredible the instincts and foresight some fans have .

I must admit I’ve been touched by the Cowboys God. I feel like I’ve seen the second coming,

It amazes me how confident so many fans are with a 2nd year HC with a losing record and a DC in first year.

These fans have seen enough in August without the starters to claim we now look to be headed to NFCCG in January?

I must say they have some great extreme analysis and instincts. Very gifted fans .

I wonder if their instincts and insight roll over into other aspects of life and business or just with the Cowboys?
Jerry’s koolaid runs very deep my friend.
We got addics who don’t even realize it.

Coogs, I agree that is a good thing. But in my book until we WIN something with these new players, it’s hard to know “things are different.”
I don’t think results necessarily dictates if something is different or not. Things can be different and lead to either success or failure.

The cool thing about sports is that their are clear winners and losers.
Problem is we got fans who want to feel good so badly about the cowboys they stick their heads in the sand.
That doesn’t change our reality however.
We have become the Cleveland browns with slicker marketing

I mean, as someone that lives in Cleveland, I think a lot of locals would actually like to have had the McCarthy years we have. People here would like to run Watson out of town if it was feasible with the cap. And I do think we have a better team than we have in a few years. I think it'll be fun, if nothing else, to watch the team grow. I kinda see it (granted I wasn't born yet, but I'm going on what I've read) kinda as maybe a 1991 season. I think we're close, but I think we have a couple of big question marks. Plus, I don't know how quickly the players are going to come together. But if we can have a 1991-type season, I think that would be awesome.

I don’t know how to answer. :)

I like most of the decisions being made, trust the coaches and appreciate what I see as meaningful culture changes, but that doesn’t mean I think it will show in the playoffs. There are 31 other teams out there, our schedule is rough, and our defensive talent is below average.

I also see “Trust” and “Confidence” (particularly in results) as different things.

Confidence:
Coaching: Medium
Front office: Low

Trust:
Coaching: High
Front office: Zero
After Stephen stirring up drama today, I’m revising

Confidence:
Coaching: Medium
Front office: Low Less than zero

Trust:
Coaching: High
Front office: Zero Less than zero

Zero. I literally don't know why I still follow the team beyond me following them my whole life.
