This just shows you how difficult the draft really is. 100 votes. Only 4% got it right.

Close it.

my option isn't on there...stay @ #4 and draft Defense, unless Wentz is there...

Your option is 2. Only take a QB at 4 if it is your favorite QB

In other words, you're in the camp that would take a QB at 4, but it has to be your favorite one on no dice.

If you had said stay at 4 and draft defense (or any non QB)..period. It would be option 4

I voted three. However I rather do the first option, I just don't think it would take that much. I would give them our first and second and next years first.

The one that really surprises me is that 38 people already say that there are at least 2 QBs that they would draft with the 4th pick this year ahead of all other players in the draft.
That's a bit mind-boggling.
But that's what polls are for

QBs aren't like other positions because you have to have them and can't really get them elsewhere.

The fact that we've got a few years to develop any of the top three candidates explains why we can afford to take any candidate we think we can develop.

Yeah, I get that.
It's the use of a 4th overall pick or higher on QBs that would historically be ranked as mid-late 1st rounders is what gives me some pause.
I've said all along that if you strongly think one of these guys (or by some miracle 2 or 3) will be true franchise QBs worthy of a top 5 pick, then go for it.

I think maybe 6 or 7 of the last 9 SB winning QB were taken much later than the top 5. The thought that at some point you should use a 1st rounder, I think, is valid. The part that just because you have a top 5 pick and have at least some need at QB, then you must force fit a QB...that's bugs the hell out me.

But it all depends on what you feel about the players. Is this a mega star in the waiting? If so, grab him.

If you can trade down to 1/7...and pick up a 2nd....and still walk away w/ Lynch.....I think your stealing. Then I think I'm working the phones to get back up into the 1st and go and get Shaq Lawson.

I'm kind of surprised so many would even use the 4th overall on their 2nd choice at QB.
That's pretty desperate!
Interesting poll so far!

I think it speaks more to how people value the QBs. As for me....I have Lynch as my top QB prospect. I think his ceiling is higher than Wentz and Goff.

Lynch and Lawson would be a nice early haul.
But I think Shaq has good odds of going before Lynch. Could see Lynch going as high as 15, or I could see him not going until the end of rd 1.
But I realize that you like Lynch, so why risk it if you like him that much

Rumor is San Diego likes Lynch. I think you could see the Chargers dealing down w/ the Eagles.....(they take Wentz)...and then the Chargers take Lynch @ 1/8. Chargers are having a private workout w/ Lynch this week.

So it looks like the QBs are rising.....like they always do.

So if your going to get the QB.....looks like you had better stay in the top 7;)

Cast your votes!

  1. Trade up to 1st overall to secure your favorite QB. (Assume cost is approx. 2016 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 2017 1st)
  2. Stay at 4 and take your favorite QB ONLY if he falls to you
  3. Stay at 4 and take a QB if he is one of your top 2 (so basically, take one no matter what)
  4. Stay at 4 and take your favorite non-QB player ...so BPA non QB
  5. Trade down to 7th ( Dallas gets a premium ..say approx. 1900 instead of 1800 on trade chart. ex is maybe Dallas 1st and 4th for SF's 1st and 2nd)
  6. Trade down to 15th ( Dallas' gets a premium ..say approx. 1900 instead of 1800 on trade chart. ex is maybe Dallas' 1st and 4th for SF's 1st and BOTH 2nds)

trade chart reference (not in stone, but try to stay within 5% to keep it real)

I'm in the trade down camp. Although I wouldn't be too disappointed if we stay at 4 and select Bosa. He should be solid 5-8 sack a year guy and great against the run. He might even be Watt 2.0 very similar combine results but will he have Watts drive ? Ramsey should be gone but if he falls to us select him. Think he can be a pro bowl CB even if he is better suited at Safety. Romo should play at least 3-4 more years and personally I hope he plays till he's 45. Manning would still be playing if his arm strength was not diminished due to nerve damage. Even so Broncos believe Manning gave them the best chance to win and they were right. Brady wants to play till he is 45 why not Romo. Best tactic is to trade back load this defence with young new talent and lets make a run to get a string of SB victories.

I was borderline between staying at 4 and taking best non-QB or trading down to 7. Trading down to 15 sounds interesting but to hard to gauge who'd be there. This draft, I think there are going to be a lot of reaches. I picked trade down to 7.

I'd be happy with any of several players who could still be on the board at 7 -- Elliott, Jack, Lawson, Buckner, Rankins, Hargreaves. Maybe even Jackson, Treadwell or Ogbah -- and the 2nd round brings two more starter quality players or trade a 2nd and 3rd to move up if Lynch slid to the 20s. Could go up as far as the Jets at 20.

I am on the fence with Wentz...I wouldn't be upset by that selection, but I have been solid on wanting Defense in this draft, including Ramsey/Bosa with #4 and Jaylon Smith in rd 2 or 3

the weird thing is that if they moved back in the first round with some type of trade, then I could see them taking Lynch (mid teens) or even Elliott....I just think the real studs early in the draft are mostly on defense, other than Tunsil

The more I ponder this question.....The more clear it becomes for me....there are 3 QBs worthy of becoming true face of the franchise starters in this draft. Lynch,Wentz and Goff.

There are 11 teams looking for a QB.....

Cleveland
Dallas
San Diego
San Francisco
Philadelphia
Chicago
LA
Buffalo
Jets
Arizona
Denver

We are in a good position to get one of these guys. You bite the bullet now and take one....because you may never get another chance like this to draft one. You don't want to become the Cleveland Browns and still be searching for a QB 20 years later.

It's a QB driven league....and we need one. I'd even go as far as saying we need a new face of the franchise. Tony Romo hasn't won anything. And father time has caught him.:(

Some will say...draft a guy (later) and develope him. Rarely do those guys pan out.

I cannot argue with this reasoning...this is why I am on the fence. But, I keep seeing people post things (regarding Bosa) that "if we didn't have a need at DE, would you even be thinking about him?" So, the same thing applies to QB...If we didn't have a need for a FUTURE QB, would we even be thinking about wentz, goff or lynch? I think our discussions would be more on "at least one of the 3 QB's will be there @ #4, what can we get in a trade???"
