I don't think that is the case

I had back surgery for a herniated disc 15 years ago...you always know it is there and I played 100s of rounds of golf

I just think he always felt the optics were bad and didn't want to fuel further criticisms by playing golf

Once he decided to retire I think he couldn't care less about the optics and just went and had a great weekend of golf with his Dad and family
I must have read him going and playing golf as something that is good optically. When a guy who is known for having multiple back surgeries goes and plays golf publicly it seems to show that his back is feeling great. No way I'm signing a QB coming off of back injuries who can't handle a round of golf. I would imagine the criticism anyone could give for him golfing would be pretty weak and easily dismissed by Romo.

IMO, Romo will never throw a pass for a different team, he is done in that regard. But, if Dak does get injured and Dallas has a good record and/or heading to the playoffs.........Romo would listen.

It would take a special circumstance for him to try once more and only Dallas holds that card. Obviously, this would apply to the 2017 season, another year off from football is too much and he would probably lose that itch by 2018 after a year in the booth.

I do not see him going to any other team during the season and try to catch-up on the fly but he could jump right in for us if need be.

With that said, I think his playing career is over, on to the next chapter.

tony would not come back to dallas, and is not going to leave the job he just got to play football, that would be stupid.
Tony was miffed about people on team who didnt want him back last year when he was healthy, so I dont think he even
wants to play for dallas.
Dallas chose dak , so now they can forget tony lol.
he has too good of a job to leave it for football.
The only way would be if cbs wanted him to do it for some late season run, but I doubt they would want that.

it looks to me like Jerry still has Romo as his backup and doesn't have to pay him unless he needs him.

I think that Tony would come back. Just think how awesome it would be if he came back and lead them to the Super Bowl.

I think he's done and wish him the best going forward. Stepping in at the #1 spot with CBS is a damn good gig.

he wont come back, he cant, he is signing a contract with cbs, like I said if they wanted to let him make a run lol then it is remotely possible.
But cbs wants him in the booth, and that is where he will be.
A SB ring is cool , but so is the job he now has.
to be honest I would rather have his job than a ring.

well it may be in his contract then, tim tebow had it in his contract.
So maybe it is possible , but I still dont think tony would come back to dallas and play.
he is on good terms with jerry, but not JG and some team mates.
But hey it is possible I guess.

I thought it would be good to do this poll now and again at some point in the future, maybe even more times.

I could easily add in various poll options such as when he would play, which team, etc., but that would just cloud the vote and research shows that when voting in polls with softer or more moderate options, people will tend to go with one of those options to avoid committing to the more definitive options. As such, I am keeping this poll very simple by going with only Yes and No options.

If he does this transition well, he sets himself up for a 20 year career and health benefits in his future years.
He will be closer to his family and there for his children. There are more important aspects to life that playing NFL
football.

The CBS job will be waiting for him but an opportunity to play won't be after this year.

I think the only way he plays is if Dak Prescott got hurt. Tony only really wants to play here, and this is the only place he could mentally be ready immediately.

Houston dilly-dallied around and screwed this up for themselves. Had they just offered Dallas a 2nd-round pick, Jerry would have pulled the trigger. Romo was still in play mode back then.

The Texans allowed time for Tony to condition himself for the switch to broadcasting. They tried to play hard ball. Hey, dummies, you're Houston. The toilet of Texas. When you're this close, you go get the QB you need. Idiots.

I think he started feeling pain in his back when he played golf last week and thats why he suddenly decided to retire.

I will say though, Cutler will probably go to Houston now.

Should be interesting, Romo is better but Cutler is alot better than anything they have or could get in the draft immediately.

If I was Houston, I would be on the phone with Cutler right now.

Tony is too smart to screw this opportunity up by going back to football this year.

I don't think it's screws up his opportunty.

I think CBS would love it if he started with cbs... then was asked to play for Broncos.

CBS would turn this into a positive... exclusive.

I always said Romo had Favre in him..... so it could happen.
