News: Pollard must be lead for Cowboys Offense

I agree.

And not just because Pollard is my flex in Fantasy Football.

"If Pollard becomes the lead back, Elliott can benefit from fewer touches and maximize his opportunities when on the field. A similar setup occurred when the New Orleans Saints had Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara. After one season, the two flipped roles with Kamara getting the spotlight and Ingram serving as the hammer. Dallas should follow this blueprint."
Then Pollard would have gotten zero reps vs Tampa amirite?

What?

No doubt in my mind Pollard will be the #1 RB next season no matter how good Elliott performs this season.

I agree but my concern is teams knowing he's a liability in pass protection.
Teams already know this. And as soon as you settle in with Pollard getting most of the reps then Cooper Rush is going to see a lot more blitzing and Pollard is going to fold like a soft taco back there. They have a good reason for mixing things up.

An OC has more to consider than which back will average more yards per run.

He may not be here next year. He is gonna want some big money. We can’t keep both. I am not sure cutting Elliot is a for sure thing.

Explosive plays are what leads to scoring points. Scoring points is what leads to wins. Pollard has contributed a number of explosive plays that have lead to points that has helped us win. Zeke provides nothing. He has 3 receptions for -5 yards on the season. This is beyond bad.

Still a little too much Zeke. It wont always be that easy to run the ball. We nearly lost the Bengals game because of too much Zeke.
They still have this Zeke is going to ‘wear down’ defenses mentality, something I find kinda moot when he doesn’t get many carries.

You know the drill. There has to be a certain amount of saving face on the contract. Jerry was calling Jaylon Smith a “cornerstone” player a month before he was cut.

That’s what we have to put up with in Dallas and why many people become frustrated.

I feel like it can be a balance of 30 touches and whichever back is having the most success ride the hot hand. its going to fairly equal as zeke is always tapping out. I hear about how he needs to be ridden till he gets stronger at the end of the game i just dont see that as I rarely see him staying in the game for an extended period

How about trusting Moore to create a game plan week to week on how to use them to whatever matchups are the best.

Not sure which will get more responses...use each to best matchups... or. ..... trusting Moore ....:lmao2:

He breaks long runs off later in the game when they don’t want to tackle him anymore.

Yes but since he signed the big deal they have started to "save Zeke" by having him sit out a lot of the 4th quarter. As I have posted several times.. he did not play a single snap in 5 of our games last season when we were blowing the other team out and he had one whole carry in 2 others. It is what it is.. Zeke is not getting to reap the benefits of the pounding he inflicts on defenses.. Pollard is.. which leads to stuff like this..

You know where I stand on this 3 years running.

Pollard needs 15 carries and I would give Zeke 10. In games where we are dominating in the run game or in blowouts, give Zeke more.

Gotta start out the games with Pollard getting the lions share to get a lead.

I like Zeke in short yardage and short GL situations.

Agreed, Zeke in shortage and goal line for sure, Pollard more touches between the 20's.

Zeke is running the ball as well has he has in a few years. They are two different types of runners. Pollard is a break-away guy who will get 40 yards on 1 play and 0 on the next. Zeke is getting 5 yards pounding the football but won't break any big runs. Both can be effective. I am not sure Pollard could carry the ball 20 - 25 times a game and still be as effective.

Pollard relies on speed, Zeke relies on power.

Who is 1 and who is 2 is irrelevant since both will get carries. Play the hot hand when there is one.

Pollard was exposed week 1 in pass protection, otherwise I think he could take the starter position. His speed does add some extra play making ability to the offense.

Some of yall are obsessed with who the "lead" is, who cares. The current mix where both get balanced opportunities is working just fine and ultimately will keep them both fresh.

No he wasnt. IN fact, there was an article about how he graded out better in pass protection than Zeke did. LOL

You Zeke apologists love to make things up in defense of your hero.

Try actually reading a post sometime.

My hero..... Comical. Emmitt Smith is more my type of running back.

Grades are subjective, like PFF rating Diggs as not even top 50 corner last season..

They are subjective until they agree with your point right?

The myth that Pollard cant block is like a fart in the wind.

Clearly the Cowboys trust him.
