This won't be a popular opinion maybe. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of rookie contract rbs, strictly. Draft them and let them produce then let the walk but keep drafting a new one every other yr in the first 4 rounds.

First, they absolutely should try to re-sign Pollard, but it they can't franchise him and trade him. His age and the season he just had, and reports starting to come out they expect him to be ready to go by the start of tc.

If McCaffery got the niners a 2nd 3rd and 4th Pollard could Def get dal something like that. Maybe a 3rd and 4th or a 2nd and 5th. Or just a 2nd would be good for me.

Tony Pollard
1377 total yards 12 tds 232 total touches 0 turnovers
5.9yrds per touch

Christian McCaffery
1839 total yards 13 tds 343 total touches 1 turnover
5.3yrds per touch

If you maintain a good/above average offensive line this is ideal. Will we do that? Consistently? I would draft on offensive and defensive lines early in every draft if I was at the helm.
Most NFL lines are terrible and RBs still do fine.

Cheap RBs with fresh legs is the way.

Pollard is close to Christian McCaffrey but even McCaffrey may not be worth his pay considering he is always hurt.

Don’t think you can trade a tagged player.

You definitely can’t unless he signs it.

Can't go into the draft with an absolute need to get an instant starter. That would be moronic for a team that plans to contend.

I would be all onboard with moving on from both RBs, drafting 1 or 2 in this deep draft and use the money that you save from not paying the RBs to fill other needs in free agency. The problem is that the Cowboys do not sign anybody worth a crap in free agency so you might as well pay Pollard and maybe even Zeke cheaply and not have to use high draft resources on RB. Use the high draft picks on other positions of need that we won’t fill in free agency with the money we would save from moving on from Pollard and Zeke.

Give me Kareem hunt or Miles Sandersfor 7mil AAVin FA. Or Mostert for around 3mil.

That's based on if they can't sign Pollard. I Def think they can and will, but if they can't def need to trade him.

Why would Sanders be less expensive than Pollard?

Oh no
Give Pollard McCaffreys touches and you have 2000+yds

Tag Pollard he is a guy defenses HAVE to account for every play, from anywhere. Keep Davis , sign a big oaf to handle goaline
Next year lord knows what you can get for Pollard if need be.

The WR contracts in the league have gotten a bit absurd, but I do think I'd rather allocate $ spending there.

RBs in rounds 2-5 can make an immediate impact. WR's first 2 years impact in round 2-5 is much more rare, its a steeper learning curve.
I'd go draft there too. I'm not one of the you need stars to win. Dallas has had teams full of stars and havent won a sb. What they havent had is good coaching. IMO you need a combination of atleast 2 of these

Good coaching
Great QB
Good Defense

Dallas has a good defense, so that's a check.

Dak has had great games but he's not a great qb. Alot of factors come into this, that aren't in his control. I'm not going to say he's inconsistent because the amount of his good play dwarfs the amount of bad play he's put out. The thing I will say is he is very impatient. If it's not working he will force things like all qbs do and mistakes happen. So it's not a Dak thing but a qb thing.

I will say this, Dak is best when he's doing what MM offenses have historically done. Maybe that's why MM and Moore didn't agree on scheme. So we'll see how it goes there.

Now coaching, MM has a sb so theres some credibility. But how it ended in GB naturally there's skepticism. But this is the yr we find out what we have in a coach. I believe they strapped him with Moore because he's was unknown to them running their team. I think they trust him now.

Bears got 98 million dollars to spend next year. A young QB that needs weapons. Pollard and Fields would be scary..
if 20 is healthy and 100%. He's been hurt badly the last 2 years. Its a gamble.

THE SAME APPROACH SHOULD BE USED FOR QB'S, seems like the market is always being reset, get a qb for 4 years, GET A NEW ONE, thus not having to pay 60 million for a qb a season!

at some juncture it must end. Can't keep resetting the QB asking price year after year. Its very bad for the league and teams. 1 guy just holds the entire franchise hostage. I have always been an advocate of a hard $ cap for QB's for each team. I think limits must be in stone for say 3 years then reevaluated by the league every 3-4 years. The money and years. Its the only way going forward. I would only do this for the QB position since its the most important position.
