Pollard's Injury

We have hundreds of fibula fractures and hundreds of ankle sprains to show that this is not a major injury going into the offseason. If this were week 9 yeah you should panic. Dak had a fracture that literally popped the bone through the skin. Gallup had an ACL injury which we also see a history of guys taking a year to fully recover.

I believe the cowboys medical staff on this one because we have both data and anecdotal evidence that suggests pollard will be 100% week 1

What was the problem with Dak's leg the year he came back? Do you recall the games he missed because of the ancillary stress which caused thecalf strain?

Thanks, Doc, for your insight. Good thing you post here.
Atrophy in the calf muscle and then trying to build it up to fast.....either that or just a completely different injury. I didn't see the X Rays, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night

Yep...cause you need to be in NFL #1 RB shape. Good call.
Lol, I was 29 when I broke mine. They put a plate and a bunch of pins in it. Guy in bed next to me was 74, had almost similar break and they were discussing amputation because of his age… “figur it out”!!!

Can this team really trust a guy who had his leg broken for him during the second quarter of the last game of the year?

Dak broke his ankle and it took two off seasons and a full season before he was steady enough to now worry about the ankle.

What makes anyone think you can just plug in Pollard and things will be okay?

And on top of that, he's been tagged and paid a premium price to rehab with nothing guaranteed next season. And sitting behind him on the depth chart are just guys.
There’s no assurance Pollard will return to form next season, but the Cowboys knew they would be moving on from Zeke and they couldn’t risk losing their other back in free agency who was their top playmaker, so they had no choice but to tag him. It would’ve been very difficult replacing both backs. If Pollard doesn’t return to form, we just move on from him after next season. At least we have him secured and aren’t stuck with him long term.

The bone will be stronger than before, the question is the severity of the ligament damage....again, I don't think they would have franchised him if the Docs were worried about it.
I hope the team docs are right, Coach. I suffered almost identical type of injury (lower left leg fracture with damage to ligaments and nerve) during my mid 20s while playing football. Was never able to be 100% or do the same pre-injury ever again no matter how much I rehabbed or trained. Hopefully, today's surgical and rehab is much better at healing.

I agree with this assessment.

Nerve damage is bad...I lost feeling in my left shin for about 3 years after suffering nerve damage in my last football injury. I didn't hear Pollard had any...

The isn't an Achilles or ACL. He's likely walking normally already. This was 2 and a half months ago already.

The break did not require resetting; it was a fracture. No surgery, nothing….just time to heal.
The ankle did not require surgery either. He chose to have the rope procedure which has been very successful in making the ankle stronger than ever.

Anyone who thinks Jerry would franchise a RB without the certainty that he was 100% knows nothing about Jerry. He franchised Pollard as a one-year rental. You don’t do that with a guy who isn’t guaranteed to be 100% to start the season.

Pollard will either be signed to a multi year contract, lowering his per year rate, or we will run his legs off this season and let him walk. Ronald Jones and the draft are all about insurance and the future in case we don’t get him signed.
