wouldnt you be a little frustrated injurying yourself on the first drive of the first preseason game? who cares, people say stupid stuff when angry, and this is an example of it, get over it.

I agree.

Some Cowboys fans have no class, and then get upset everytime someone criticizes TO when if he were still on the Eagles doing the same stuff, they'd be laughing and mocking.

Lets see what this MRI shows

Although im not sure how much it matters, the average life of an NFL starting RB is just over 3 years and Portis though tough has taken 4 years worth of touches in the past 3 as the sole workhorse for the skins. I would be very, very suprised if he makes it another two years with out a serious knee/back/shoulder injury this may just be the first sign but this man has taken a beating and certainly wearing down.

Not sure if this has been discussed or not, as I dont feel like reading 6 pages of the thread.

But wasn't Emmitt Smiths injury in 1993 against the Giants more severe? He was able to play 2 weeks later. And the shoulder wasn't a concern the rest of his career.

Whats the big deal?

Because you're comparing Portis' toughness to Emmitt's. Portis has had somewhat of an injury problem in his career. Emmitt broke his neck against Chicago in week 1 of '96 and played the very next week. Nothing against Portis, but I don't nearly see him as tough as Emmitt was. Only a handful of players were.

Rich.....

What's it going to be then, eh?

I do not think he "broke" his neck, Rich. From what I remember he jammed it. If he "broke" it and played the next week, he was Superman.

In more ways than one...

Even if he jammed it, it is pretty remarkable.

I think Portis will be ready for the first game.

Commanders fans do it also. It happens with every fan base. There are fans out there that just dont think and look at this as more of a game, and like to see rival players get injured. That just isn't the right mindset.

but anyways, and update on Portis will come around 6:00 when gibbs addresses the media. Im really hoping for good news. :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:

He had surgery in th eoff season and skipped the pro bowl that year. He had a severe grade 2 almost a grade 3 so thay wwent in and basicly snugged up all the ligaments, I think that can be done athroscopicly so shorter recovery time.

I share in your desire for good news. I struggle with people who "enjoy" an injury to another team's players. As one who has suffered a knee injury, the pain and hard work through rehab are things I wouldn't wish on anybody. Like somebody mentioned earlier, I want my completely healthy team to beat their completely healthy team.

My son and I walked into the Barbershop full of Commander fans; I live in Fort Washington, Maryland (Trivia Moment: home also to Brian Westbrook). In walks a huge Oakland Raiders fan who immediately starts giving these Commander fans a hard time about the incident (he gave me a hard time about the HOF game while I was actually seated in the barber's chair).

Several things came out of the discussion...

1) Portis should not have been in the game

2) The Offensive Coordinator should have briefed his star RB about trying to make such a tackle

3) Portis didn't want to play in the game but the coaches insisted

I have no way of knowing any of these things to be absolutely accurate, but that was how the dialogue went.

Oh ...my haircut looks good!:)

I Hope Portis recovers soon enough to play in the regular season, but that type of injury is lingering to a RB. It will probably have some type of impact on the RB.
