On the one hand, if this is a fakeout then it's dumb. The 'Boys have been planning and practicing all week with the mindset that Portis will play. They've already planned for it, I think Parcells said earlier today that he anticipated Portis playing. To try a fakeout on Friday afternoon before a Sunday game is a little late to try and mess with the gameplan.

That said, I still won't take this at face value until I see the 'Skins on that field Sunday minus one suited up Clinton Portis.

portis is officially listed as 'doubtful', and so is the possibility of a skins win this sunday.....

Perhaps......but you aren't in the heads of every Cowboy. You never know what is going through the mind of others. To them, this is a job, not some college ra ra. You just never know.

but c'mon, they're professionals, we should expect them to remember what happened last year, and expect anything and everything except for a sure-fire victory, but you're probably right that some may feel overconfident, but I doubt it will be a rampant feeling

Does anyone keep a running tally of how often SI's Peter King is wrong? His fantasy prediction this week was to play Portis regardless of his lingering injury....

His girls' field hockey predictions are usually spot on, though.

I was actually hoping he would play because now Skins fans will be making excuses for why they lost the game. with how their secondary performed this past monday and probably not being able to control time of possesion without Portis then this is looking like a HUGE week for Glenn and T.O. will that is if Bledsoe gets it together.

I don't care if Jim Brown plays for them. Our boys need to be ready to DESTROY! As pointed out throughout this thread, we should have more than enough motivation to DESTROY them.

I agree. Who plays or does not play this weekend for the Skins is the skins problem. Dallas just needs to focus on what they need to do to win this game regardless of what may be going on with the skins.

Don't believe for a second that Portis won't play. Gibbs has a history of playing games on whether one of his player's is injuried and will/will not play. Don't worry. Gibbs will list Portis as questionable and then there Portis will be out on the field playing against us. In my mind another mark against Gibbs who claims he so much a Christian but sure doesn't hesitate to lie re football issues if he sees a benefit to Skins. To my mind, a lie is a lie and when he came out and said Portis wouldn't play against us Gibbs will just say he spoke prematurely and Portis was lot better by Sunday morning.

Sure, but I am not worried about any games that Gibbs may be playing. After all, this isn't Parcells' first rodeo.

If Dave Campo was our coach, he would likely be fooled into popping champagne right about now. I have faith in Parcells, and I am sure he is not fooled by any smoke that Gibbs may be blowing.

I think sago1 isn't worried either about mind games, but, Gibbs is a two faced little rat faced man that will ALWAYS play those games!

Like I said earlier, lets see if St. Gibbs is a liar, or legit! Personally, I think he's a liar and Portis somehow plays...he may not start, but he will play.

And, that is fine by me...no excuses!

Besides, Roy will take care of Portis's other shoulder...

I have to say I am disappointed that Portis played last week...he clearly did not a big impact on the game and I would have rather seen him healthy and suited up for this game..with such a HUGE revivalry I want to see both teams going out there with everything they've got....no excuses, no bs

I think the purpose of playing Portis last week was to get him some reps in the game so that he could get his legs back. However, your point is valid in that it may have been best to get his shoulder up to 100% before playing him.

He did average nearly 4 yards a carry when in the game, so I wouldn't call his effort a disappointment.

You know, this could be an advantage for the Commanders in the fact that they will have a different game plan from last week. I am thinking that last weeks game film for the Cowboys to study might not be as informative as we might hope.

Then again, they did lose Portis.

If I am Parcells, I am working on the long pass defenses and the dump-off passes. I am sure we will see a plethera of them.

The dump-offs have really hurt the Cowboys in the pre-season and last week.

Don't be surprised if Kevin Burnett sees more game time over on Ellis' side. Burnett's speed just might be better suited even though he plays behind Ware primarily.

Think so?

I see your point, but I get the feeling the Commanders are not used to their new offense yet. Their sideways passing game last week really had me baffled.

What new wrinkles can you add when you don't have any "fabric" to speak of?

I also believe Portis will play. This game is just too important for him to miss if he can go at all.

The decision on Portis should not even weigh into BP's mind. We have enough problems of our own as we saw last week.

If the Cowboys lose the game becouse of Gibbs ' mind game or becouse of weather factors then we are not a good team to start with.great teams win games regardless.untill we beat them badly i won't call us a great team yet.

Joe Gibbs is at it again, he is well known for saying a player will not play, like Portis. Gibbs said Portis is doubltful and ESPN, but according to Parcells that is one of Gibbs tricks, he gets you to thinking a player wont play, then he plays him, and your not ready.
