And let him collect another year's salary and nick our salary cap for a few more mil?

It's not going to happen.

Only an extra 700,000 on top of the nearly 6 million it would already cost to keep him which is why it wont happen.

Then you're putting out the 6+ million on your cap (knocking that 14+, nearly 15 I guess) to under ten and then you've got to go find another guy to pay to replace his roster spot.

This is why he won't be traded or cut and why people need to just simply understand that fact and live with it.

I'm not sure you are understanding everything. RW is counting $5.9 million against the cap for next year. That includes salary + prorated signing bonus. If he were cut or traded, his salary would no longer be counted towards the cap, only the rest of his signing bonus which is $6.6 million. So his cap hit goes from $5.9 to $6.6 million if cut or traded. Thats only an extra $700,000 against the cap which is not too much to absorb if the team really wants to get rid of him or you can get something of value in return.

No, you're not understanding. It means it's an extra 700,000 dollars over what it would cost to just keep him.

Meaning we wouldn't have him, we'd be paying an extra 700,000 dollars above what we would if he was here to dump him, AND then we'd have to find someone to either replace him (Meaning putting out money for that guy) or moving Henry to FS and Hamlin to SS and thus paying for another guy to replace Henry.

You'd be paying the 6.6 million to not have Roy AND having to pay someone else, on top of that money you already don't have cause you cut/traded Roy, to replace him with.

Essentially you'd be paying two salaries, the 6.6 for Roy, and another persons for 1 spot.

That, quite frankly, is stupid.

Well said.

And yes it is stupid. But that "disease" seems to run rampant in here some days. :)

So you want to trade Roy....which actually costs MORE money to do than keeping him?

Hell, even drafting a replacement or signing a free agent to start for SS AND keeping Roy as a backup costs less than trading Roy and doing either of that...

That makes no sense.

Again these are people I REALLY want to sell property to.

"I've got two pieces of land. I'll sell you one of them for the price of both of them. How does that sound?"

Some Cowboys Fans: "I'll take it!"

I don't see where the defense suffered a great deal this past season because he wasn't there.

I could see Fergie getting cut LONG before I see the Roy Williams move ever happening. If some of these people were playing with their own money, and not someone elses, they'd realize that as well.

That's it exactly.

You're dealing with fans here and not business people. Most just hand over their check to their wife, girlfriend or significant other and they have no comprehension of dollars & sense or working within a budget.

Really good Cs could push Ratliff around. Ohara was doing it consistently. Ferg was better and unless he doesnt return to form hes better against the run.

Put Ratliff at DE and nickel tackle and look out.

Well, duh.

Roy actually costs more to cut than it would to keep him.

Ferguson, the opposite holds true. So yeah, its far more logical to cut Ferguson than Roy.

And if one got cut, yeah, Id bet on Ferguson.

But I expect both to be on the roster next year.
