Who you got?
Ashton Jeanty rb Boise State
Kenneth Grant dt Michigan
Kelvin Banks ot. Texas
Tyler Warren te Penn State
Derrick Harmon. dt Oregon
James Pearce Jr. edge Tennessee
Walter Nolen dt Mississippi
Josh Simmons ot Ohio State
I think they leap at Jeanty there. Jerry has ADHD and is lazy. He'll think he won the whole draft.

12 feels high for Grant.
Banks is high on some draftniks lists and much lower on others. I get nervous when I see that kind of divide.
Warren is so good. I'm biased though. I love versatile TE's and would run 12 personnel all day.
Harmon has really improved since his Michigan State days. Much better movement skills than I thought.
Pearce has fallen off some. Was in the conversation as #1 overall and now I see him being mocked late 1st.
No thanks to smallish 3Techs. We don't have the right people playing next to them for them to be truly effective.
Simmons is good but coming off injury. Huge gamble at 12 for a team like Dallas with so many holes.

Understand totally but IF this kid is as good as advertised, IMO you take him and don't look back. He will make Dak a better QB day one.......remember the crazy win rate he has with an RB rushing for 100+ yards?
I look at it this way, anyone who fixes the run defense ,rush offense has to be considered. Keep in mind though, DT’s after day 1 are very hit or miss, but you still can find a real good back on day 2

I think Simmons is the best tackle in the draft and they are mighty scarce. He had acl surgery. He is probably worth it with the lack of olinemen league wide.

I agree ......take a look at this PFF DT ranking for 2024. Notice some have excellent pressure rates but are average run defenders. This is my concern......wanna make damn sure I'm getting a high level run defending DT

Honestly, my concern is more positional than talent. A DT rarely makes an immediate impact as it generally takes 2-3 years. Since Mazi is showing improvement, I am leaning more toward pairing him with a free-agent vet with a solid resume as a run defender. That way I know what I'm getting and know he can hit the ground running.
Mazi is still not all that. And we need TWO DTs. and to be blunt this is the kind of attitude that has left us mediocre at best for years at DT. Run stopping is what almost all good DTs do right off the bat. Pass rush is extra and not as important.
We have been KILLED by run games for years.
And the top DTs show it RIGHT away.
Besides which Jethro will not spend the money if FA on a DT good enough for what we want and need

I want a top 10 talent that falls so probably no one from this list.

If I had to pick from these players either Pearce or Harmon.

This class is loaded with elite size, defensive tackles that can play multiple techniques. We are talking about many that are well over 300lbs that all translate as good run defenders

The Cowboys could finish 7-10 and would probably get the 12th selection. To me players four through sixteen have similar grades. I also still think you can get a quality player in the 40s so I like where we are in the draft. We will probably take the highest rated player at 12 and not trade for need. It’s a toss up for me between Jeanty and Harmon. I will take Harmon

Honestly I was hoping for a top ten pick so that we could trade back for more picks. A #5 pick you could trade back to ten and then to fifteen and pile up some extra picks. WE need at LEAST six serious upgrades and actually about a dozen upgrades in all

Mazi is the first DT Jerry used a 1st round pick in 20+ years and you guys think he's going to use another 1st on DT? I don't ......at all.

It’s not over yet. The Cowboys could easily lose the last 5 games. No more Giants on the schedule and our offense is concerning.
