1st #12 - Mykel Williams DE 6’5 265 Georgia - Dallas knows they need to set the edge and stop the run to win in the division and playoffs. Mykel offers the best of that with pass rush.
Walter Nolan/ Jahdae Barron - safety picks -

2nd #44 - Carson Schwesinger LB 6’3 240 UCLA - a linebacker is a huge need and this one has elite instincts against the run. Captain with crazy burst - will excel in Eberfus’ defense.

3rd #76- Charles Grant LT William and Mary 6’5 311 - I think he can step in and play OG and later play OT.

5th #150 Damien Martinez RB

5th # 170 Tahj Brooks RB

5th # 174 Miles Frazier OG

6th # 190 Hunter Wohler S

7th # 211 Tim Smith DT

I am addicted to those draft simulators. I tend to trade down in the first and grab either Harmon or Nolan. Look to grab best available RB or DE in the 2nd. The extra 2/3 for trading down I look at CB or WR. WR has to be a guy that can stretch the D. Later rounds I go LB, G/C, another RB and a big fat interior DLineman. DL is pretty deep this draft.

No simulator. Drafttek for who is available.

In the 2nd I thought Alfred Collins DT Texas would be a great pick. But ultimately do you want safeties playing linebacker like at Buffalo two seasons ago. . Defenses that win in the playoffs have these types of LBs and I’m giving Mazi another year to get it.

I like your choices but I will be running back early

I am not sold on Williams at all,i am not sold on Shemar Stewart either and both these guys scare me.

Can M Williams play strong side DE?
Even if he can develop the weight and strength to eventually play the 5tech end, 12 would seem high for the position. Someone like Burch in the late 1st or early 2nd or Kneeland last season would seem to be a much better fit and spot for the position.
We already have enough questions on the DLine vs the run, not sure I want to compound that trying to convert a college OLB to strong side/5tech DE!

My issue with Mazi, more than anything, is his ability to play 60/70 snaps. I think he is at best a top of the rotation/run stopper. I think they need a lot more help at interior DT. Nolan and Harmon would be great fits. Collins is more like Mazi. Good player but I think they need some pass rush talent in the middle.

Defenses that win do so at the DL not at LB LOL

LB is way less important than a top DT

Williams is a guy who two years from now could be Greg Rousseau or Taco Charlton. I don’t know if the Cowboys have the balls to take that chance.

I think there are many holes. You are saving a lot of money by letting DLaw go and getting a base DE. Walter Nolan is a strong possibility but if let the Eagles run outside zone all day on you it doesn’t matter who is inside..

Got some great players but not adding a DT early in this loaded class would be disappointing to me.

I like most of the players in this draft. OG Frazier is rising up draft boards and most likely won't make it to Day 3 now.

Grant is more of an outside zone athletic Tackle, he isn't enough of a mauler to play in this Inside ISO/Duo blocking scheme. He is a very good Tackle but for this team I don't think he is a fit. He might be able to play Center here but would have to gain 10lbs and add more functional strength.

LB Schwesinger is only concerning because he gained so much weight(15lbs) in the off-season and didn't run at the combine. If he runs under 4.65 at his pro day, I would be fine with the pick. He has only started one season, so he isn't a proven commodity. His tape is really good in that one year though.

I had Schwesinger in the 2nd in my mock. If he can play at that weight, I think he could be an outstanding Mike

Yes,
They line the strong side DE straight up over the tackle in the 5tech position quite often on run downs. Did so in Quinn’s 43 under, Zimmer’s 43, Marrinelli’s 43 and will do so in Eberflus 43!

You’re absolutely right. It will be interesting to see his pro day. If he runs 4.7 or high 4.6 it could make him slide despite the added weight
