We ran 80 plays (thats EIGHTY)...had the ball almost 39 minutes...had 27 first downs...converted over half our 3rd down attempts...Romo didnt commit a turnover, we had only 5 penalties and we scored 24 pts...had anyone told me this would all play out before 4:15 EST, I'd have thought we would win for sure and would be sleeping in a card board box tonight after losing all my possessions and money.

Another key game in December, and yet another performance where the team came up small...Romo kept us in it as best he could, but when your OL is a no show, the defense reverts back to its mediocre roots and the team as a whole cant tackle anyone, you basically are set up for failure.

1) Really good showing by Romo...only a couple of poor throws (one we got lucky on) and kept many plays alive with his feet or really quick release...the miss to RW though was pretty significant, but you cant pin this December loss on the QB

2) OL...just pathetic...they didnt block anybody today in the run game and got manhandled up front...it was embarrassing..that was as lame an effort as I have ever seen

3) Witten, Austin, Roy Williams...you guys came to play today

4) I'm getting to the point where I wish MBIII didnt play so much...for the 2nd time in 3 weeks he had a really pathetic fumble, and it was a huge momentum shifter...along with Hamlin's ridiculous deal, signing Barber for as much as we did isnt paying off

5) Defensively, they pretty much played the way they always do in important games...no consistent pass rush, missed a ton of tackles and had coverage problems (except for Jenkins). I see some banging on Newman, but at least the TD he gave up was on a play where he tried to actually make a play on the ball. Otherwise he played fine. The problems in coverage were all pretty much our safeties and Scandrick. Scandrick somehow found a way to play almost as bad as he did back in week two, even though he wasnt on the field as much.

6) The Folk miss was the worst kick he has ever had here, and you can see he is really getting frustrated and maybe getting down on himself. The first FG looked great, but the 2nd one was a total hook. I'm not sure if Buehler is a legit FG option, but if Folk's hip is an issue (and it very well could be) it might be time to consider shutting him down, before the kids confidence is shot for next yr and beyond.

7) It didnt cost us the game, but its a broken record with these officials on a week to week basis. Teams know they can rape Ware and Spencer all they want and never get called for it, ditto the mugging jobs they put on Roy Williams. That non call on Webster's OBVIOUS PI was a significant play. He (RW) gets intefered with or held at least 2 or 3 times a game in plain sight, and I'm not sure if teams have been flagged for it more than once all yr.

8) All you "we give up on the run" clowns, please sit down and be quiet. This isnt a good run blocking OL. Sure there are some exceptions here and there, and we do rip off some long gains from time to time, but they have no ability whatsoever to block consistently enough to feature the run more. Todays performance was pathetic by the OL.

The season isnt over, but this was a huge loss and the team itself played poorly. San Diego and New Orleans are both eons better than the Giants are, especially offensively. I dont see how we win either of those games, simply because I dont see how we'll hold either of them under 31-35 pts. If that plays out, we'd almost assuredly have to beat Washington and Philly to make the playoffs, and even then we might not get it. We now have no shot at a tie breaker vs NY (who needs to finish 3-1 to get to 10) and we'd already lost the tie breaker to GB.

Wade's a nice guy and at times he has come up with some good defensive plans, but at the end of the day he's the HC of a talented football team that plays lousy when the stakes are high, and its his responsibility to get better results than what we've seen in December and January the past few years. Today may have sealed his fate.

Good post David.

If we lose to the Chargers next week, things are going to get really interesting.

I'm in the minority but I am just not too upset with this loss.

If we can wrap up our division, it will be a guarantee that we have 1 home game and no bad weather as the 1 and 2 Seeds will be dome teams.

This is still a good football team who lost a close game on the road, in the cold weather against a desperate division rival.

The situation with Nick Folk is really starting scare me.

We are a stupid, undisciplined football team. You know, a reflection of our coaching staff.

I think the D plays better next week.

I also think we win if Romo plays anywhere near where he played today.

San Diego's defense isnt as good as NYG's, so maybe we can score more. But I dont see how we stop them. Their offense is really playing well, and Phillip Rivers is red hot.

I feel bad for Tony because this loss is gonna get pinned on him and he executed today unlike other members of this team.

I dont see how anyone could pin it on him. His only really bad throw was the miss to RW. If he hadnt played as well as he did, we'd have got blown out.

The defense and OL deserve all the blame.

That pass is going to become the reason we lost with the media.

Just watch.

1) Really good showing by Romo...only a couple of poor throws (one we got lucky on) and kept many plays alive with his feet or really quick release...the miss to RW though was pretty significant, but you cant pin this December loss on the QB

No upgrade needed at the QB position.

2) OL...just pathetic...they didnt block anybody today in the run game and got manhandled up front...it was embarrassing..that was as lame an effort as I have ever seen

Anybody who says this isnt the highest priority in the off season needs glasses.

3) Witten, Austin, Roy Williams...you guys came to play today

Mardy Gilyard would make the O and special teams sick.

4) I'm getting to the point where I wish MBIII didnt play so much...for the 2nd time in 3 weeks he had a really pathetic fumble, and it was a huge momentum shifter...along with Hamlin's ridiculous deal, signing Barber for as much as we did isnt paying off

Bet Jerry is starting to regret that contract too.

6) The Folk miss was the worst kick he has ever had here, and you can see he is really getting frustrated and maybe getting down on himself. Having two kickers active has ******** the development of Jason Williams IMO.

8) All you "we give up on the run" clowns, please sit down and be quiet. This isnt a good run blocking OL. Seems to me the Giants first option was to take away the run, and did not feel that Romo could beat them through the air in a windy Meadowlands. Were stringing running plays out sideline to sideline all day.

We essentially gave up two tds due to turnovers and STs. If we limit the big plays then the D will have a shot.

It's not as if the Giants were able to consistently drive the field on us.

I'd also add that San Diego's defense allowed 3 tds as well to a Browns team that is by far the most impotent offense in the league.

We lose a close game to the Giants, the Chargers just scraped by.

We're at home.

Let's not act as if beating Norv and co is an impossible task.

I agree with much of the assessment but San Diego is due to lose, teams rarely win seven in a row let alone 8.

I think the drop by Bennett on the first drive was significant as it prevented us even from trying a FG (although Folk likely would have missed it anyway).

Roy was interfered with badly and I am not convinced that there wasn't a block in the back on the punt return.

I am sick of losing to big mouths like Tuck and Jacobs.

Good thing is we are still in first and will be guaranteed no worse than second in the division after next week given the Eagles and Giants play each other so both cannot win.

Right now, as bad as it sounds, I want the Eagles to win (yes I barfed writing that) as a Giant loss is more beneficial than an Eagle one.

It will come down to Giants, Eagles, Cowboys and Packers fighting for three spots. No other team in the NFC really has a chance in my view.

Great post. I think for one of the only times this season, our special teams let us down in a big way. They're allowed one. I got a feeling Coach Joe D won't let it happen again.

David, that was a clinic in exactly what happened in this game. I shouldn't even do my regular post game thread. I can't say it any better.

I agree with everything you said except where you had to resort to childish name calling. The people who were clamoring for the run (and I'm not one of them) had a fairly decent point. Calling them clowns and telling them to sit down and be quiet was as unecessary as a tomato fruit roll-up. You're better than that David.

Dude, you just don't get it. Regardless of the hows or whys, we always come up small when it matters most. We don't have the mentality to step up when it's absolutely needed. Remember Philly last year? Playoffs against Giants two years ago? Today? We're undisciplined and when things don't go well, we tank.

I would just like to point out, that calling out happens both ways.
