the vids are coming. I have one more to do and then I will upload them overnight and post them in the morning.

Where are you hosting your vids now Calico? That BW usage has got to be plenty large. They charging you extra BW usage?

I have a new host who charges me a fraction of what I used to pay for 4X the space and bandwidth. I should be good a while.

4) memo again to BP, when you have no timeouts left in a half and are in chip shot FG range, you call a play with your last snap that GOES INTO (or out of) THE ENDZONE, that way you save ample time to get the fg team on...seems like elementary stuff, but apparently you dont get it

Sometimes I wish JJones and BP would pay $50 to some guy in the ZONE to manage the clock for the team...every year, I get the feeling that no one knows anything about taking time outs and managing the clock at the end of games or halves...well, at least it's preseason but don't be surprised if they have some mismanagement meltdown during the season too...

No offense to you David but come on. Do you ever see anything positive?
I got to stand up for David. He is not like a couple of regulars in here who see nothing but bad this and bad that all day. He just wants us to be the best we can be. To do that we need to eliminate mistakes and play smart. We are turning the corner here but are experiencing some growing pains. Some of the items he mentioned will keep us from winning games this year. I think he is spot on with his points of which all could/should be addressed and fixed asap.

Dont get me wrong - Dehaven is TERRIBLE. I said it earlier in the Official Game Thread. I have NEVER been impressed w/ Dehavens ST's. It amazes me the man is still called on to be a ST coach.

I wonder the implications of this for both Seattle and the Texans :)

It doesn't seem to dawn on some people that the coverage units in preseason are composed of guys who won't make the team.

great point

I'm tired and pretty PO'd right now so probably more to come tomorrow:

1) 1st team OL for the most part was just putrid...looked like they have never practiced vs a blitz...run and pass blocking was bad, though it did improve when Al Johnson and Tyson Walter were replaced by Gurode and Noll

2) the special teams from Bruce DeHaven is just garbage...its gone from average to bad to putrid in his 3 seasons...Cortez was booming kickoffs high and deep into the endzone and they were still getting to the 30+ everytime...punt coverage is average at best and oure returns basically stink...we will lose a game or two at least because of how poor we are on special teams

3) memo to Parcells, DeMarcus Ware has no business being a blocker on the punt return team...the guy is pobably the single most important key to the defense being better, perhaps even very good in 2005...nothing GOOD can possibly become of having your best pass rusher running 40-50 yds backwards trying to block people...ONLY BAD CRAP CAN HAPPEN, and almost did tonight when he suffered what turned out to be a (hopefully) minor knee injury...BP, you sir are a total boob for putting him out there...further, BP spent all last yr and offseason poor mouthing about the loss of Dan Campbell and about how he was so key to the offense, yet there was Campbell with 3 minutes to go in a meaningless preseason game run blocking in the redzone

4) memo again to BP, when you have no timeouts left in a half and are in chip shot FG range, you call a play with your last snap that GOES INTO (or out of) THE ENDZONE, that way you save ample time to get the fg team on...seems like elementary stuff, but apparently you dont get it

5) Bruce DeHaven and Tony Sporano were horrendous hires by Parcells

6) 1st team offense (minus JJ) played two series vs the Houston backups to start the 3rd qtr, and not only didnt score...they failed to net even one first down

7) Drew Bledsoe would be fine at QB if he can consistently get even average pass protection..he looked good tonight despite mostly bad pass protection...Tony Romo got all the snaps after Bledsoe left and played well...made a great throw to Crayton...undone by another horrible drop by Q Morgan in the redzone, though he did come back to make a nice TD on a short throw from Romo..still, no excuses for the other redzone drops he's had...those were easy plays

8) Patrick Crayton is really looking solid, he's a real playmaker and needs to be on the field in more than just 3 WR sets

9) not sure why anyone thought Chris Canty was taking Greg Ellis' job...I've seen every snap Canty's been on the field in preseason and he still has yet to make a play..appears to be adequate vs the run but is non existant as a pass rusher

10) if this team can somehow score 350 pts this yr, they'll win 10 or 11 games...problem is it doesnt appear there is virtually any chance of scoring that many pts...the OL is just horrible right now

thats all for now

David
You have serious issues. Knew that last year when you started posting that Parcells sucked. Relax - the 3-4 defense is kicking in! Bigger players making things happen. QB's rocked - just not yours. Al Johnson started again - that has you bound up. Young kids on Defense, Roy liking that biscuit and making a lot of plays in the box. Davis had a good game at FS. We have our Backup QB - see Romo's performance. Burnett - Sack and Forced Fumble!!!!!!!!!!!Why is #51 playing ST NOW?

but that was with Keith Davis in there...how much will he play on ST's this year remains to be seen.can't wait to see Spears play on Thursday.

Do you mean the San Diego team that only managed 16 points vs. Minnesota this weekend? A true powerhouse on offense. Stop Tomlinson and you stop SD.

Yes, thank you Inman!

AS Parcells said in his postgame....
Do you even know who was in our KO team?

Lets not worry about what will be better when the season starts...

The changes that needed to be made were...4-3 to 3-4...And a real DB coach...

We also have more depth & talent...

Its going to be a special year if we can hold off on the injury's!

Man talk about p*ssing on the camp fire, lol.

We were far from spectacular and far from putrid. We are improving and Parcells is using the preseason games like he should to test/experiment/evaluate.

The D looked good to great and in a regular season game, the iso and stretch plays will be shutdown.

Romo impressed me with his new found zip and excellent ball placement.

Julius running through arm tackles and showing great burst is a thing of beauty.

What I deducted from the game is that we have the pieces to be a 10-6 / 11-5 team, it is all going to boil down to breaks regarding health of the team and the rookies fighting through the inevitable 16 game brick wall.

some people just cannot stand to be happy ever. I am enthusiastic after tonight. I saw alot more than I expected. I saw and offense that worked well when given time to get some rhythm. I saw a back up QB who was sharp and made great reads and throws. Things are looking up for this season.

yeah calico, I know I just cant help but be entusiastic about a 1st team offense that couldnt even get a single first down against another teams backups, and they had TWO series to do it...

Some of my thoughts:

1) The defense played well. I thought that they looked very good even without Fergie. Ware showed up again and made some plays; he flushed the QB in the arms of Ellis for a sack and was in the mix all night. Looks like they have moved Ellis back to the left side and put Coleman on the right. I don't know why they try to move Ellis every year in preseason.

2) Newman is BACK! He had his guys covered like a blanket last night. I think only 1 pass was completed on him and that was on a scramble where he had to cover for about 8 seconds (that's a complete bull ride folks).

3) Keith Davis is going to be our starter at FS and deserves in. He was around the ball all night and was making plays. And he didn't let anyone get behind him. I am now officially comfortable with the FS position.

4) The Left OLB is now our biggest weakness on the D. Looks like we are going with Singleton and he will be steady but unspectacular as always. We really need Burnett to step up and provide us a playmaker at that spot.

5) Looks like Bradie James has got it together enough to hold on to the starting LILB spot. I didn't notice a lot of plays out of him but at least he wasn't off on the other side of the field out of position like last year.

Offense:

1) Bledsoe just looks nervous and uncertain in the pocket. He has a .300 Magnum arm but just doesn't seem to be able to find his receivers. He needed the work so bad that BP blew off the Henson's farce and gave his reps to Bledsoe. They did finally put together a drive but we had way too many 3 and outs.

2) Bledsoe doesn't seem to look for Keyshawn much and didn't start finding Glenn until late in the first half. Keyshawn I don't think had a single catch...maybe because he dropped the only ball Bledsoe threw to him.

3) Crayton is the real deal...he is a playmaker and the brightest spot on our offense beside Julius. Morgan dropped a sure TD and wonders why he is not the #3 WR...Go Figure.

4) Thompson is the second best RB on the team. He is big and strong, runs with power, has vision and speed...Lots of speed. If he doesn't make the team Parcells needs to be fired. A-Train's biggest weakness is that he has no vision. He was getting huge holes opened up for him but would just run right past them and up the back of his blocker. Keep Thompson and let either A-Train or MBIII go.

5) Pettiti has RT under control and Tucker did a pretty good job as well. Walters is a Third stringer at best. Cut him and let Gurode backup Rivera's hurt *** and Al Johnson.

6) We have to do something about blitz pickup. It is just not working and they are going to get Bledsoe KILLED (which may not be all bad).

Special Teams:

1) They suck start to finish; McBrier is the only bright spot. Fire Bruce DeHaven...end of story.

Random Thoughts:

Is anyone else sorrier that we let Swinton go than they are that we let Dantzler go? I was at the time and still am sorry we let Swinton get away.

dbair1967's analysis was not far off. He paints a darker picture than we want to here but he was pretty much spot on.

Some real issues are being addressed. I didn't see the game much. Only NFL Network. But seems Rob did at least ok. Am I right?

Seems Davis did at least ok? Am I right? Again didn't see the entire game yet.

So Swinton runs a TD back. He does that against regular ST players time to time. It's the only reason he's still in the league guys. He's not an every down productive player. And we were playing people to evaluate who could and could not play STs. This is a time for evaluation. Our real STs players will be better.

We are deep and talented at several positions.

The team is vastly improved and barring injury appears to be capable of making a playoff run.

Even my untrained eye can see mistakes so we are a progress in work. But we don't need to fire anyone right now. We need to improve. But we can be a good team.
