No offense to you David but come on. Do you ever see anything positive? We didnt play terrible tonight. I saw some pretty good play to be honest. Ready for SD? Ill take that bet right now. This D is going to give Breese FITS.
=)

sure I saw some good...I pointed out with at least average protection Bledsoe can be pretty good...I pointed out Crayton looks solid...I should have noted that our secondary is very good and our defense finally has some ability to force turnovers and get an occassional pass rush...

however, when you only score 1 td on 1st team, have numerous 3 and outs, too many jjail break rushes allowed to the other team, multiple plays where the RB is stopped for loss or no gain, when your 1st team cant even net a single first down against another teams backups and your special teams are the worst in recent memory, there's are real reasons to be concerned

the OL's getting way to old to be any good. I can understand 1 or maybe 2 veteran lineman, but not 3.

You have serious issues. Knew that last year when you started posting that Parcells sucked. Relax - the 3-4 defense is kicking in! Bigger players making things happen. QB's rocked - just not yours. Al Johnson started again - that has you bound up. Young kids on Defense, Roy liking that biscuit and making a lot of plays in the box. Davis had a good game at FS. We have our Backup QB - see Romo's performance. Burnett - Sack and Forced Fumble!!!!!!!!!!!Why is #51 playing ST NOW?

honestly Nors, I see little reason to discuss this with soemone who didnt even watch the game...but a few pts

1) what "bigger" players are making things happen? Wiley was bigger than Ware and never made anything happen last yr

2) Al Johnson did start, and I hope if he starts during the season he plays better than what we've seen so far...again, not sure if its a coincidence or not but the offense was FAR better for Bledsoe and Romo when Al Johnson and Tyson Walter were on the bench

3) Davis played his best game IMO

4) the run defense was so-so

5) I love Kevin Burnett, but since you like to make stupid pts to agg people on I think I'll make mine...Singleton started ahead of him again, and made a half sack...what is your point about #51 being on special teams? hasnt he always been on ST?

6) as for my comments last yr on Parcells, they were warranted...and they'll be warranted again if he keeps doing stupid crap like playing DeMarcus Ware on the punt return team or throwing 1 yd passes on 3rd down at the end of the half with no timeouts remaining

.

we were talking about that very thing last night at the sportsbar...he fell in love with the no talent Dantzler and let a far better player walk..Swinton isnt great, but he's a better KR/PR than what we have here and is also a better 4th/5th WR than anything we have

Bledsoe was only sacked once that I recall...thought he was pressured some and it made him nervous. As for the stops for loss; that was mostly with A-Train in there and as I pointed out he had holes he just couldn't find them...he has no vision. That trait probably has something to do with Chicago letting him walk.

Swinton was a pretty solid backup WR last year for Detroit. No, he is not great but I'd take him over Copper, Crowder or Morgan.

Some of my thoughts:

1) The defense played well. I thought that they looked very good even without Fergie. Ware showed up again and made some plays; he flushed the QB in the arms of Ellis for a sack and was in the mix all night. Looks like they have moved Ellis back to the left side and put Coleman on the right. I don't know why they try to move Ellis every year in preseason.

2) Newman is BACK! He had his guys covered like a blanket last night. I think only 1 pass was completed on him and that was on a scramble where he had to cover for about 8 seconds (that's a complete bull ride folks).

3) Keith Davis is going to be our starter at FS and deserves in. He was around the ball all night and was making plays. And he didn't let anyone get behind him. I am now officially comfortable with the FS position.

4) The Left OLB is now our biggest weakness on the D. Looks like we are going with Singleton and he will be steady but unspectacular as always. We really need Burnett to step up and provide us a playmaker at that spot.

5) Looks like Bradie James has got it together enough to hold on to the starting LILB spot. I didn't notice a lot of plays out of him but at least he wasn't off on the other side of the field out of position like last year.

Offense:

1) Bledsoe just looks nervous and uncertain in the pocket. He has a .300 Magnum arm but just doesn't seem to be able to find his receivers. He needed the work so bad that BP blew off the Henson's farce and gave his reps to Bledsoe. They did finally put together a drive but we had way too many 3 and outs.

2) Bledsoe doesn't seem to look for Keyshawn much and didn't start finding Glenn until late in the first half. Keyshawn I don't think had a single catch...maybe because he dropped the only ball Bledsoe threw to him.

3) Crayton is the real deal...he is a playmaker and the brightest spot on our offense beside Julius. Morgan dropped a sure TD and wonders why he is not the #3 WR...Go Figure.

4) Thompson is the second best RB on the team. He is big and strong, runs with power, has vision and speed...Lots of speed. If he doesn't make the team Parcells needs to be fired. A-Train's biggest weakness is that he has no vision. He was getting huge holes opened up for him but would just run right past them and up the back of his blocker. Keep Thompson and let either A-Train or MBIII go.

5) Pettiti has RT under control and Tucker did a pretty good job as well. Walters is a Third stringer at best. Cut him and let Gurode backup Rivera's hurt *** and Al Johnson.

6) We have to do something about blitz pickup. It is just not working and they are going to get Bledsoe KILLED (which may not be all bad).

Special Teams:

1) They suck start to finish; McBrier is the only bright spot. Fire Bruce DeHaven...end of story.

Random Thoughts:

Is anyone else sorrier that we let Swinton go than they are that we let Dantzler go? I was at the time and still am sorry we let Swinton get away.

dbair1967's analysis was not far off. He paints a darker picture than we want to here but he was pretty much spot on.

Jack it appears you're starting to come around. :)

Despite what Winicki says :)......If the OL can give Bledsoe 1 or 2 more seconds I really believe this team will score some points.

Burnett had a sack and a forced fumble - not sure you mentioned that.

Als played ST 5 years in Tampa before starting. I never remembered seeing #51 on ST last 2 years. Usually you backup LB's do that. If they can't play ST they are not on roster........Als to make this team he has to man a ST job.

Burnett will be starting Week 1 - JMO

Thinks like the French army. He's folded already, and the enemy has no plans to attack......defeatest and dispair. But this is the same guy who last year felt he knew more football than Parcells.

And has fought all this change - change that is needed.

Henson, where art though?
3-4 fully implemented and efficient and causing TO's.
JJ and TT running amock
Bledsoe and Romo go what 16-25 TD and 200 yards and no turnovers?
Burnett sack and a fumble
Roy wreaking havoc and FS Davis a stellar Game
Tnew big Int - corners upgraded with 2 Vets in Henry, Glenn

Fergi and Spears still to come.

Glenn on page with Bledsoe. Witten at TE?

Only YOU would be gloom and doom. I'm very optimitic on this team.

Can someone grade out sacks? Davey pictured it as Al Johnson was the entire fault and Gurode saved the Line. I saw the first sack and it was 100% on Flo - He let the 3-4 LB in untouched. That had nothing to do with Al.

I don't know if it was Al Johnson or Tyson Walters but there was too much pressure up the middle. Walters has no business in any starting lineup IMO. But Johnson DOES have a tendency to get blown off the ball from time to time. Gurode is harder to move out and I think would be a better center for us...and probably would be starter but for a BP man crush on Johnson.

Chris Canty's job in the 3-4 is to play the run and not rush as if a 4-3 D end. The front 3 are holding the line pretty well if you ask me.

Singleton's been on special teams since he's been here....its one of the reasons Parcells likes him I suspect

Ware's on ST too...is he a backup? (and for the record, I've said he has no business being out there...just stupid IMO for Parcells and DeHaven to have him on things like punt return duty)

and as I mentioned in other posts, I love Burnett...he's gonna be good

gloom and doom? I never said the team was going to be atrocious, but they did play like crap for the most part last night...the 1st team offense had way too many 3 and outs (including a pair of 3 and outs against the other teams backup defense)...the first team offense has two offensive tds in 3 games...too many opposing blitzes are working to perfection (on one blitz last night not one but TWO defenders came scott free up the middle)...the run blocking could be alot better, but getting Rivera back healthy should help some in that area...

on defense, it was better against the pass last night...the run defense wasnt that good but as you mention hopefully Ferguson and Spears will have positive impacts there once they return...still too many plays with little or no pass rush...the special teams are awful

I'm normally very optimistic, but I also call it like I see it...and if this is the best they can do offensively they will be hard pressed to be a 10-11 win team and make any noise in January...I think there's enough talent there but they need to get alot better

I never said it was all Al Johnson...I said I dont know if its a coincidence or not, but the offense was alot better for Bledsoe and Romo when Al Johnson and Tyson Walter were replaced by Gurode and Ben Noll..anybody that saw the game would have to agree...the offense was virtually non existant in quarters 1 and 3, and in the beginning of qtr 3 our starters were playing against Houstons backups

but thanks for taking what I posted and twisting it all around to support your lousy agenda Nors

I never liked releasing Swinton. He was average on most kickoffs, but he did break a few every now and then. He is a decent receiver when given the chance too. Not great, but okay.

I think we will be okay, though

you forgot to mention the inability of this offense to run a screen.
