Postgame Thoughts

kudos once again to mark columbo for having the o-line ready to go against a very good d-line. filo excellent again. fleming not so much, but able.

Eh. They weren’t really ‘ready to go’ until the 2nd half.

Here’s the problem: every bad throw or bad play by Dak is viewed as proof that he sucks.

He had a few bad ones today but made FAR more good plays than bad.

Then when he makes a GREAT play, it’s dismissed. “Well, Cooper was great after the catch! Doesn’t count!”

He just put up a 121.6 passer rating, 3 TD and 0 turnovers. He’s 28-15 as a starter and is only 25 years old. He’s on pace for a 2nd division title in 3 years.

Yeah, I’m excited. He’s starting to look like 2016 Dak again. So sorry, haters!

I am not a hater ... I want Dak to be the guy but I am not blind ... for every good play he had in that game I can probably show you 3-4 they he blew the play .. can’t happen ... I hope he gets better but it won’t happen with this coaching staff but that’s a whole different argument

I want to like Dak so badly. I want to watch the games and see a reliable NFL starting QB, but every single game I come away more and more unimpressed... yes, even in a win like this one. He missed wide open receivers so many times it is laughable. He missed a WIDE OPEN Noah Brown on a walk in TD that any NFL QB should make 10 out of 10 times. He missed a WIDE OPEN Beasley on an out pattern for a first down when Beasley had 2-3 yards of separation. He bounced throws to open receivers more than once when he had a completely clean pocket. He underthrew Gallup by 5-6 yards in the 4th quarter when Gallup was 3 strides behind his defender for what would have been another 80+ yard TD if he just makes an easy throw to an open receiver.

Full credit, his touchdown was a thing of beauty that only 5-6 other qb’s make but we should’ve scored 45-50 in this game and he should’ve had 2 or 3 more touchdowns and another 150 yards.

He is, in my opinion, an average backup qb and will never be anything more. Makes me sad.

Yes, the second pass was actually over 20 yards....but you have to admit his passing is a very mixed bag. He only had one or two throws all game more than 10 yds down the field. There was the miss of Brown for a TD, the awful short hop where his feet were all over the place and the pass to Gallup was at least 3 yds short of where it should have been.

We are only going to go as far as Dak leads us, he needs to start hitting the open guys. I know there are going to be misses into tight coverage...but you have to make the wide open plays. Basically we have shown we are not going to be a big play offense....we don't get anything 30+ yards down the field. As such, youhave to nail the wide open ones.
Yes, it’s still a work in progress and Dak needs to keep getting better. Was Romo a finished product at age 25? How many of these WRs are in their 1st year working with Dak? Basically all of them except Beasley. Their timing isn’t perfect yet.

I feel like Gallup could’ve made a play on the last one, but you’re right, it was underthrown.

Dak is avoiding turnovers and the offense is improving. He’s 28-15 as a starter and is on pace for a 3rd straight winning season. Call him whatever you want, he’s a winner who’s made of the right stuff. If he keeps working his butt off, he’s got a real shot to be our franchise QB.

Dak Prescott: 9.3 yards/attempt, 3 TD, 0 turnovers. 121.6 passer rating.

3 straight wins. 3 straight turnover-free games.

Oh, and on pace for his 3rd straight winning season.

Winners win. Dak is 28-15.
yet no playoff wins right now. dak was good enough but cooper bailed him out a couple of times. still won and that is all that matter in the end.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful day for food, football and alcohol.

You are simply wrong, because you want to view this game as some sort of redemption for the “injustice”. Watch the replay again and the referees are already in their positions and have blown the whistle, meaning no movement is allowed. If you watch the other time Ladoucer does it in this game, his extra motion happens way before the referees are even set and still moving to their positions.

Oh, and the slant td to Cooper was an awful throw that Cooper just made a play on and the defender fell down. It was an easy 8 yard slant that Cooper had to stop and jump for instead of run through. Just so happened that he was so open that it didn’t matter.

Serious question: when you watch other NFL games, do you scrutinize the QBs this closely?

Because I see misses in just about EVERY game by EVERY QB.

Why is it that Dak’s mistakes are amplified and remembered more than his great plays? He had 3 TD and 0 turnovers!

Dude, watch the replay on the 8 yard throw that was behind Cooper and he turned into an 82 YAC.
Clearly you don’t really understand the game. QBs don’t pass to players. They pass to the open spots and the receiver must adjust. There were 3 defenders in a triangle around Cooper. Dak lead him just enough to make the play but not allow the defender to Coopers right to get to the ball. It was as close to a perfect throw as you’ll find. Dak is a work in progress. He needs to hit the TD pass he underthrew. He needs to throw more passes away. He needs to set his feet to be more accurate. But our offense has so many slow developing plays in it,that the QB has to hold the ball, hold the ball, and take hits as he delivers the pass, just as Aikman did for years. Sometimes you get sacked. Sometimes you barely get off a huge pass play. The ball to Cooper took time, and it was thrown perfectly.

Hahahahaha

Okay.

Hey, how did Amari Cooper finish with 180 and 2 TD? Did Zeke and the defense throw him the ball?

In fairness Cooper was largely responsible for the two TDs. Dak got him the ball but on the first TD, the Skins DB fell and Cooper just outran everyone. The second one, Cooper broke tackles and sprinted to the end zone.

Silly exaggerations. Almost like you people have an agenda. LOL!

Dak’s 2nd TD pass was 21 yards in the air, not 11-12. Nice try! Oh, and it was an absolute strike.
Whats silly is I didn't even criticize Dak in my post but you got your panties twisted and accuse me of having an agenda, yet stop short of saying what that agenda is.

I noticed you neglected to point out an exaggeration on the 5 yarder he took to the house. Why is that?
Actually, after going back and looking at the replay it was a 25-26 yrd pass. Its not an exaggeration just an honest mistake.
Want to talk about the absolutely embarrassing throw near the end of the first half where Dak panicked and flopped to the ground (for no reason)
while attempting to throw and wound up bouncing it 10 yrd short of the receiver leaving us out of FG range?
He played decent today overall, but its not like he was airing it out and making the defense back of the 8 man fronts.

Then the INTs that bounced off a WR’s hands don’t count against Dak.

And let’s strip the QB of credit for every single TD in which the WR had great YAC.

The 2nd TD was an absolute strike 21 yards past the LOS. Great throw, great run after catch.

The problem really is that a Dak game can run the full gamut from awful plays to a couple of great ones.

That’s his problem...... he’s way too inconsistent. Think back to that earlier drive. Totally throws a dud to Brown on first and goal. Then on second and goal he runs into a sack because once again he steps back instead of stepping up into a clean pocket.

At some point he has to get more consistent IMO if you want to consider him a legit franchise QB.

Notice how none of the Dak worshippers are are praising Linehan for the actual call, which was actually perfect. When Dak sucks, all of the sudden its Linehan an that doesn’t know how to do his job. The whole defense bit off the play-action and Dak was going there from the beginning. All he had to do is place the ball where it was catcheable on one on one coverage.

And just as an aside, Dak actually throws that route well, if he knows he is going there. It was no different with Dez last year. Most of his catches, particularly at the end of the year were on these type of slant routes.

The one throw you can praise Dak for is the second TD by Cooper, because it was a deep route to the middle, which he always avoids like the plague. That’s what made it so shocking. It’s basically one in a million. This is Dak’s passing chart from 2016,his best year, meaning this isn’t some subjective claims:

Ironically, I think the Cooper TD today is about right where the only TD PAST 20 yards inside the hashes was in 2016.

You just exposed your agenda.

Dak played like a stud overall today. So sorry!

Well in fairness guys like you have always tried to give Dak a pass for interceptions that bounced off a WRs hands. So you can’t try to play both sides here.

Dak had a really good game today.

But when in that, there are still things that he does that are frustrating and he has to stop doing.
