Drew Bledsoe gets hurt.

Is Romo good enough to handle the Cowboys with a very needy WR on the field?

After watching Henson today, there is no way he is an NFL qb in this league any time soon.

Romo has never played an NFL down, we can't possibly go into this season with only him as the backup with this much invested in a WR.

Thoughts on what the Cowboys will do?

Honestly.... I think Drew Bledsoe has just become the team MVP.

We have an awesome aerial assault now but it's all going to depend on Bledsoe dishing out that ball. Like you said, it's made even more critical by TO's past behavior.

Personally, I'd like Kerry Collins if he comes in for cheap.

I don't think would solve the problem though.

Cutler would most likely struggle more than Romo if pressed into service halfway through his first season.

That's actually not a terrible idea, although I think he still may wrangle a starting spot.

Just to satisfy my curiousity. Why would you want to draft Cutler over Linehart or Young.

I live here in Nashville and I had the opportunity to watch a lot of Vandy's games. Seen all the highlights and lowlights of Cutler. The thing that he posses that I don't think Young has is the brain to be an NFL QB. This game happens so fast at this level and you have to be able to think fast. I don't think Young has the mental accumen for it. When you score a 6 on your Wonderlic that's a bad sign.

As for Lienart, I just think it will take him longer to grow into a starter in the NFL. When you look at the two they both compare well physically . Lienart is 6-4 and Cutler is 6-3. But when you have a guy who has had a rotator Cuff injury that scares me. He never did have a great release and he looks kinda like a picture when he throws. He winds up too much.

Neither one has GREAT speed on the ball but Cutler can make good decisions and make most every NFL throw.

I think Matt Lienart could either be the next Payton Manning or the next Ryan Leaf. I would rather take the more sure bet and go with Cutler.

Initially absolutley. But I am talking about our future QB. Not someone who will come in and back up Bledsoe. Is till think we keep Romo.

Yes, I thought of this also. Now that the Cowboys do have TO, there can't be any room for failure at the qb department which is another reason why I wish the Boys weren't so cost effective at signing players for the OL. We will see how everything pans out, but if anything happens to Bledsoe, this could be mirroring the same years where the Boys went out and made a splash in signing The Rocket or was it Galloway, and AIkman got hurt only to not have a NFL ready backup qb to step in which in turn was a true waste.

Well with TO on board now, it makes the job at QB much easier. Teams won't be blitzing near as often, they won't have 8 guys in the box. I really look for Witten to become a real force, like a gates. This also improves our line alot. Blocking 4 guys is much easier than blocking 6. I think either back up we have right now will benefit from the presence of TO if they have to come in.

This is also a HUGE benefit to Julius and the running game. And also, TO WILL throw a block downfield.

If Drew could stand up to that beating he took last year then his potential for being lost to injury is very low.

Yes, it would be nice to draft Cutler for the future, but the Boys need....NEED to sign an NFL ready backup especially w/the addition of TO. Don't let the signing go to waste! And sorry, but I wouldn't go into the season depending on Romo who hasn't had any real NFL experience in a real NFL game.

Who could be signed? Well...not a lot of great backups but here are a few that could be had:

Collins (probably best of the rest - too bad Payton wasn't here to coach him since they worked together before)

Griese (didn't do too bad in his revival in TB)

Weike (ummm....who knows..just throwing out names)

Aaron Brooks (good option, but too much of a headcase for the Boys at this stage of signing TO - meaning, we need some more GOOD head strong leaders and unfortunately, a lot of them have left this offseason in GLover and Campbell)

T. Detmer (I never liked him honestly...but)

Can't think of anyone else at the moment...

You are referring to Matt Shaub. Yes, he would be a great back up and a pretty good starter as well.

He didn't.

What did he score? I thought it was a 6 or something like that. Either way, if it doesn't even approach a 40 I don't want him.
