9 News Denver's Mike Klis reported RB Montee Ball is not among the Broncos' final cuts.

Ball's roster spot seemed all but gone after a disastrous showing in the fourth preseason game, but Denver will keep the former second-round pick around for at least another couple days. Ball could still be cut once waiver claims begin this afternoon. The Broncos may also be holding out hope they can get something back for Ball on the trade market.

The Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reported Browns RB Terrance West's roster spot "is not necessarily safe."

Pro Football Talk reports the Browns are in the market for a veteran back, and if they find one it could mean the end for West. The sophomore running back has earned the ire of coach Mike Pettine for his "ups and downs" and will begin the season behind at least Isaiah Crowell on the depth chart if he sticks with Cleveland. The Browns have reportedly discussed bringing in Ray Rice.

Time to put the Ball talk to pasture.

Broncos released RB Kapri Bibbs.

Bibbs was competing for Denver's last spot at running back but lost out to Montee Ball. He totaled 27 yards on six carries this preseason. Bibbs will likely be added to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Turbin is not coming here at the present time.

Seahawks RB Robert Turbin passed through waivers on Saturday and went on Seattle's injured reserve list.

Nursing a five-week ankle injury, Turbin will likely be released with an injury settlement over the next month or so, which would make him an unrestricted free agent. The Seahawks kept Fred Jackson, Christine Michael, and Thomas Rawls behind Marshawn Lynch. Turbin's days in Seattle are very likely over.

I think we can put this thread to bed! Thanks for all the input!

Christine Michael - RB - Cowboys
Cowboys acquired RB Christine Michael from the Seahawks for a conditional draft pick.

It's a smart flier for the RB-needy Cowboys, and the best-case scenario for the uber-talented Michael after he languished behind Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin the past two seasons. Michael has obviously been overvalued in fantasy circles, but his raw physical ability still jumps off the page. He'll be put in position to succeed by shrewd OC Scott Linehan behind Dallas' league-best offensive line. There's a chance Michael ends up just as buried in Dallas as he was in Seattle, but he's very much worth a flier behind Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Darren McFadden. There are carries there for the taking in Big D.

Well one more!

Broncos waived RB Montee Ball.

It was reported Saturday that Ball had survived the Broncos' cuts, but that was only true before GM John Elway went to work on the waiver wire. Elway presumably spent the past 48 hours exhausting trade possibilities on his 2013 second rounder. Ball has been a plodding disappointment as former undrafted free agents like C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson have surged past him on the depth chart, but there should be teams willing to take a flier on the running ability that made him a day-two pick. There's a strong chance he's claimed on waivers.
