Potential pass rush help

Hardy probably isnt going anywhere and JPP is over rated. We need to find some quality players who we dont have to over pay for. Rather see them add 3 solid players then one potential stud who you have to pay extra for his name.

If JPP is at a decent value, because he had a tough couple years, I wouldn't mind getting him. He did have a real good 2nd half of last season though.

This is exactly the guy that I was thinking of in free agency.

Not the 'splash' of guys being mentioned Like Suh or JPP, just productivity, for a fraction of the cost.

Hughes looks to me like a player coming into his own and one on the rise.

I'm interested.

Why wouldn't Hughes garner JPP money? They have similar productivity the last two years.

Market, pedigree, name recognition to name a few.

I'd be willing to wager that - if he hits the market at all - that Pierre-Paul gets the bigger contract.

I don't think so this year . We're close !!!! Need a dominant dude and we are right there !

They have something up their sleeve Stephan jones was interviewed and said priority #1 is too get a dominant pass rusher , he sounded highly confident about something like he's all in .

Agree 100% in that this year is most definitely different from the last 2 yrs, SJ basically said it in so many words right after the GB loss when he emphasized how important they would be looking for big-time pass-rushers. This tells me that we will be big players in FA this year, most likely for a top-tier 4-3 DE like Greg Hardy or JPP, not so much Ndamukong Suh however since Suh is reportedly looking to be the highest paid Defensive player in NFL history. My personal preference happens to be Greg Hardy because once that domestic abuse charge is tossed out (and I have read numerous reports claiming that Hardy will not be charged and the woman was a well known coke-fiend), the man is everything this DL needs and THEN some.

I watch a lot of the Bills games up here in western NY. They have probably the best Dline in football and now that Ryan is going to be the coach, he's going to go to a 3-4. Jerry Hughes is a guy that shows up on sunday. 20 sacks in the last 2 seasons. He's a 4-3 DE and is a FA. Probably not happy about trying to be a OLB. Just saying

S:thumbup:IGN HIM UP

The Voice of reason. Good post.

Suh

Nuff said

I don't think paying out a massive contract to one guy like Suh is the way to go.

I think McClay, Marinelli, Jason, and the rest of the staff will be able to get a couple of guys that are productive instead of one, break the bank, wing nut, like Suh.

Romo and Witten aren't getting any younger and we have a shot at a championship if we can get that elite pass rush help.

We pick in the late 20's, where do you think we get it?

A darn good corner or safety should be there around our pick.

Possibly Todd Gurley is there for our pickings.

Some potential possibilities they could look at.....

- DE Jabaal Sheard
- DE Jerry Hughes
- DT Jared Odrick
- DE Adrian Clayborn (showed his promise/potential in 2011 & 2013...injury plagued in 2012 & 2014)
- DE Pernell McPhee (think his versatility makes him a coveted commodity if he hits the market)
- DT Nick Fairley
- DE Brandon Graham
- DT Stephen Paea (not know as a pass rusher but had 6 sacks in 2014...replace Hayden? familiar with Marinelli)
- DE Brian Orakpo (on a prove it type of deal)

I'll wait for you to tell me how great a decision it was once jerry (oh I'm sorry.... Jason ) signs him

I'd think Hughes would be pretty appealing to Rex Ryan as an OLB. The one who is probably PO'd is Mario Williams. Aside from the money, he was pretty explicit on his desire to get out of a 3-4 defense iirc.

I would take Mario for 3 season if they release him.

Jerry Hughes is a buyer beware IMO.

He is a product of his environment, playing with the best DL in football creates mismatches for him. Having Mario Williams, marcel Darius and Kyle Williams means he gets little to no attention.

He won't have that here

I'm not trying to bad mouth your line of thinking regarding Suh. No need to get all defensive and chippy.

If we do sign this wing nut, then yes, I'm going to cheer my butt off for him. My loyalty is in line with the Cowboys and supporting them, and if they think Suh can be had, and is the right fit, then I'll get on board.

I know that line of thinking is not popular with some in here, but then again, I don't give a rat's *** either.

Agreed. He is best off where he is at right now. The only free agents I have interest in are Sheard and McPhee, and even those two will get inflated contracts that are banking on them breaking out when being designated the top rusher. Not sure I would want to get involved with that.
