These guys are starting to earn more than they contribute. We have up to 9 draft picks and a ton of cap space(up to 40m). Even though some guys are only making 2m or less they can be replaced for a fraction of that.

The only June 1st cut I would make is Carr

Player cut.......Salary Cap Savings
BCarr- 9m
Witten- 4.4m
DFree- 2.5m
Church- 4.2m
McFadden- 2m
Gachkar- 1.3m
Wilcox- 1.6m
TWilliams- 1.6m
TMcClain- 1m
KMoore- 600k
DStreet- 500k

Are these the actual savings after adding a base salary back in or before? Pretty sure it's before so in Street's case....it's really a wash. There really isn't much chance you are going to get a better player than Williams or McClain or Moore or Gachkar for they salaries they are earning. People are getting on Williams but he didn't have the starting QB or the #1 WR in the lineup most of the year. He's not easily replaced. Carr definitely is a cut. With his new salary Church is expendable. Wilcox has not developed so it wouldnb't be hard to look at a replacement for him. Free should be gone. I doubt they do anything to Witten while Romo is the starting QB.

Those are the savings before adding a player back to the roster.

I completely disagree with your assessment though.

Street for one should be cut as Butler and Lucky are already better.
TMcClain has yet to stay healthy
TWilliams is not going to be kept next year. If we can upgrade WR2 this year he is expendable.
KMoore is too small and too weak armed. A turnover machine.
Gachkar is too expensive for a ST guy.

If you add up 5-6 guys that overpaid by 1m that 5-6m you can spend elsewhere.
These aren't priority moves or vital but you can't take an honest look at their performance and say they are safe.

Let me correct...Street should be a goner. He has done nothing.

Williams you just wait until next year unless you draft a week one starter to replace him.

McClain has at least shown he can play a little when healthy....replacement for his pay...not so much. BUt I could justify letting him walk and keeping a young player. Progress stopper and bottom churning, no prob.

FIne on Moore too, but you are just going to replace him with another suckage vet.

Gachkar's flexibility makes him probably worth keeping.

.

Yeah, you put Williams with an average qb and he's a nobody. The Laurent Robinson effect, great qbs do that to guys

About the only player I getting into trouble is Carr.

But let's be honest here.

Since when has this team been motivated to lop off the fat?

It usually has to get the point of unbearable before that ever happens.

Carr is about the only player I see with his head going up the stairs to the guillotine, let alone have his head on the block.

I can tell you right now, period point blank, Church stays. He is a core Cowboy per Stephen, he is Teflon.

Right now, anyone else under contract has a minimal value to being cut.

And the way things roll around here, they would much rather go with what they know.

Their are too many holes on this team for us to go cutting a bunch of starting players and creating more. As of right now cut Carr and cut T McClain. Let Street compete in training camp before deciding to cut. Everyone else are on cheap rookie deals and cheap vet deals. Get the most production u can out of them and let their deals expire on its own.

I can see wanting to cut Church but it won't happen.
